I could not get into this book. Did not hold my attention.
Fun read! Great characters
Too much filthy language. Just want a good story. Don’t appreciate the smut.
Too racy for me from the language right at the beginning. This had some elements that attracted me, but the opening dialogue turned me off.
Just barely got into the beginning. It was not holding my attention and was not realistic.
funny, feisty lady brining down the ego of an alpha male , hot and a great read
This is the kind of hot – fast – pace – romance you don’t want to read if you have stuff to do because you won’t put it down. So good!
I have a weakness for the rough and gruff kind of hero that falls in love with the shy smart heroines.
A great start to a series, yet stands alone with an HEA. I liked the characters at the ranch.
Love everything by Vanessa Vale!
Story line is good. I just don’t read books with this much sex and profanity.
Wow, this is one hot read. I enjoyed how persistent Boyd was in getting his fated mate Audrey to believe he has changed his sexual prowess since he laid eyes on her and keeping his secret. There is some drama, but nothing can keep these two apart. This is a well written book and I also can’t wait to read Rob the brother and alpha of the pack.
REVIEW: 3 STARS
“It seemed I was a glutton for punishment. And orgasms.”
I am at a crossroads with this one. I read a shifter romance. Well, a COWBOY. SHIFTER. romance. And, well….
I
Couldn’t
Put it
Down!!!!
Crazy, coming from me – I can assure you, I can’t believe it either. I haven’t read one of these in a very long while, my first being Katy Regnery’s It’s You duet – and I loved that one, It’s been four years, so I feel like I was ready to try this trope again – because, at that time, I wasn’t sure anything could top my “first time” experience. This obviously tips into the PNR side of things and it’s an area of reading I’d love to dive deeper into, so this was an easy purchase and read.
How did I ever find this, you ask? Well, I have seen Vanessa Vale’s name around quite a bit with the blogger sign-ups I get, but I have never read her. Most of the time, I catch her mid-series and I don’t really jump into those. But Renee Rose was a completely new to me author in every sense of the word. I don’t think I recall ever hearing her name. ANYWAY, I got an email and their book was listed in the sales section from another author I get a newsletter from….so, needless to say – $.99? Sure! Why not! I’ll just grab this, see what it’s like and see if I want to finish the series out.
And there you have it. I found another series to tag along behind and read when I have a few moments to throw a quickie in. I seriously read this one in ONE sitting and I never do that. Ever. I’m still laughing at myself.
But, to be open and fair and honest with my review, as much as I enjoyed this one – the writing was…..young. Immature? Rough around the edges? I don’t know if I can explain it accurately, because it was easy to follow, but it was almost basic. I’m sorry!! I’m sorry. I know that sounds rude, but I can assure you I am not trying to be rude. Again, look at the above bold sentences. I honestly couldn’t put this down.
Down and dirty? Check.
Raunchy? Ummm…..maybe?
Hot? I mean, it could fall in that category.
Intriguing? Most definitely.
Will I read more? Yep!
With this being my first read by these authors, and my second shifter romance EVER, not only did I have some new voices to check out, but I also had a still very wet-behind-the-ears genre for me. So the discovery and exploration has me paying close attention since it’s all new. I seriously enjoyed it. I am laughing at myself because I can’t believe that I’m typing those words out. It’s not that I never wanted to read it, I just didn’t think I could wrap my head around the idea of a shifter romance, especially from new to me authors. But I did, and get this: I can’t wait to read more. Not only do I want to find out about the other brothers in this series, but I want to read more of this trope. (Even from other authors) I want to see what can be done with this trope because it does pull at me to discover more. I may just have to ask for some shifter recommendations….
What fascinated me was I found myself flipping the pages and blowing right through it. I didn’t stop for much….but I also didn’t highlight much for reference or quotes either. Not sure I found much to highlight, to be honest, but it was entertaining nonetheless.
I will say that I feel like I missed out on some good background building – especially if I were new to this genre (which, clearly, I am). It could have been explained and built upon in that aspect a little bit more, but it was most definitely entertaining enough that I read it quickly and easily – so, again, that makes me that much more interested in reading more. I am a slow reader. I have never been shy about that fact – but I seriously couldn’t stop reading it!!
MY TRUTH: Will I spend $5 for each subsequent story? No, probably not. It wasn’t that mind blowing – but I won’t lie and say I won’t read more. If they go on sale – I will buy them up and happily (and excitedly) read them. It says a lot to me that I am willing to forego well-written for a great, entertaining story. I will always choose a story that keeps me entertained, and this one did exactly that. Again, not denying that I enjoyed it – because I did, but I just don’t think I’m willing to spend that much for each one, unfortunately. I felt like it was missing a few key things that could have made it amazing, so that does give me pause on the price tag. Other than that, very fun read and I will look out for more.

This is my first book by this author, and it will not be my last. I really enjoyed the pacing of the story. While for character development I would recommend reading this series in order, this story can be ready as a standalone. I read it as a standalone, and am now reading the entire series.
Natalie is an independent woman, left to her own devices as she returns to her inherited ranch. Rand is a local, and a wolf shifter, who remembers her from her visits when she was a young girl. I love how the story shows the beautify and sadness in both characters as they struggle to keep huge secrets from one another. I really enjoy the secondary characters and the overall story of the wolf shifters trying to keep their secrets.
Another Cowboy / Wolf-Shifter Find His Mate!!
Rand and Natalie met summers ago when Rand was 16 and Natalie was 10 and visiting her Uncle who has since left her his ranch. Natalie doesn’t believe in love, as her parents were miserable and she knew her Uncle loved Maggie from the Wolf Ranch next door, and back then wolves and humans were not allowed to mix.
Rand is sure Natalie is his mate. But how to convince someone who doesn’t believe in love this is the real thing? Romantic, touching and humorous as the entire pack gets involved. It is always a good read in this series and from these authors.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Natalie shows up next door to Wolf Ranch when she inherits her Uncle’s ranch. During the monthly full moon run Rand is very distracted. Realizing he has caught scent of his mate he finds her at the swimming hole. They look right into one another eyes while Rand is his wolf. Problem is Rand is a shifter and Natalie is human. Trying to convince Natalie he loves her and it is not just biology driving his need for her is harder than Rand thought it might be. But helpful pack members and some un forseen circumstances allow true feelings to shine! Love this addition to the Wolf Ranch series!
I love the Wolf alpha males. YUMMY!! Boyd and Audrey are perfect together. I like that although Boyd is an alpha he loves that Audrey is her own person. I love it!
I’ve always loved shifters and cowboys so the two combined made me eager to read this one. The instant attraction between Boyd and Audrey, and their off the charts chemistry, were everything I’ve come to expect from a shifter romance. However, I felt the drama with Jett and the jealous Karen was downplayed — a lot. The issues were skimmed over when the authors could have dug deeper. Maybe we find out more about Jett and Karen in the other books, but their issues with Boyd and Audrey felt unresolved. Almost like they were tossed in for conflict then nearly forgotten when things started heating up between Boyd and Audrey. The emotions during the intimate scenes between our hero and heroine leapt off the pages, but elsewhere seemed to be lacking. Definitely plan to read book 2. I need to know what happens next, and hopefully we find out more about the two villains.
Definite romance book with some steamy scenes, but I found it to be too predictable. So there were some editing issu s and the authors made it a.bit too cheesy.
I loved the characters they just pull the reader in and wrap us up in the fantasy!
I recommend this book 9-20-2020
Ok, this book was hot, hot, HOT! It felt like a foundational first book. Touched base on several topics but left room for surprises in following books. Good characters, typical shifter/human mating storyline. I consider this a laid back relax read. I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes me in book two.
