My friend Renee Rose has a new book out! I LOVE wolves! This is right up my alley.
NATURE ALWAYS KNOWS BEST, RIGHT?
I enjoyed the chemistry, angst, and passion between Dr. Audrey Ames and a champion bull rider, Boyd Wolf. The story is the first in a new series by a dynamic writing duo of Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. The story does not end on a cliffhanger and has that coveted happily ever after ending. Best of all, it is a series, so we know then we will have many more books to come.
I’m looking forward to seeing what happens for the other Wolf brothers, Rob, alpha of the pack and his brother, Colton, beta but away with the military as a Green Beret.
The story has Dr. Audrey Ames working as the doctor on-sight for the local rodeo and meeting Boyd Wolf while she is mending the broken finger of Abe Gleason. While Abe is hitting on the doctor, Boyd’s wolf is screaming at him—mate. But wolves do not mate with humans. While on the bull, Boyd loses his concentration when he sees Abe place his hand on Audrey, and his wolf is screaming with jealousy.
“He’s touching her! Get his hands off her. NOW!”
Boyd is gored, and Audrey will realize this is serious, and they must get to the hospital immediately and into surgery. What happens when Boyd’s body starts healing quickly? He must leave the hospital to keep the secret—but will that keep the good doctor away? No, and this is just the beginning between them.
Rob is mad, and as alpha instructs Boyd to keep an eye on her, and that is a task he gladly is willing to do. He will protect her from another man who wants to date her, but Boyd and his wolf aren’t having it.
The story is the romance, the uncertainty, the protection, and eventually, the revelation of wolf shifters becomes real. Will Boyd be able to win over Audrey? Will a jealous she-wolf interfere and cause problems between them? The story has bits and pieces of the past, plenty of action and adventure in the present, and hopes for the future.
“We share a secret. Trust. I need to up my vitamins if I’m to keep up with you—and your wolf.”
Accepting that Boyd can shift is one thing, believing he was using her to add a notch on his bedpost or to appease his Alpha brother is another. What will it take for Boyd to win Audrey over? Will the words of someone else be what opens the door for these two?
“When you open your mouth, you better not lie to me.”
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly in both humans and shifters. It brings the two together in an unlikely mating. It helps heal old wounds between two brothers. Maybe humans and wolves weren’t meant to mate—but then again, love conquers all.
Excellent time to grab this one-click hottie while it’s on sale! Two of my favorite authors
Smoking hot paranormal romance by two of my favorite authors! Don’t miss this one!

Doc too smart to fall for his “bull”
—>>> Boyd Wolf and Dr. Audrey Ames never would have met if she hadn’t agreed to take over the rodeo doc shift for extra cash that day, and Boyd (and his wolf) knew he just had to have her as soon as they’d met. She was definitely not his usual buckle-bunny type, cherry-picked from his usual bevy of available women who have witnessed his Wranglers drop more often than not. But this rodeo champion finds himself gets distracted during his ride and lands himself in hot water with a situation his Alpha would undoubtedly see as another screwup…again. And it seems she is not the only threat to the sanctity of Wolf Ranch the Wolf brothers and their pack need to take care of.
A great first read into this series from two of my favorite authors – definitely looking forward to more!
This is a great start to a new series that revolves around wolf shifter Boyd Wolf and him finding his mate in Audrey who happens to be human. Being a rodeo champ, he has a lot of buckle bunnies following him around but he only has eyes for Audrey. Boyd carries a lot of guilt thinking he was the reason his parents were killed in an accident about twenty years ago. Boyd and Audrey have a HEA but a lot happens first. Since this is a series, Jett Markle was briefly introduced as harassing Audrey and he seems to have a hidden agenda at this point. I loved the story, it is well written and entertaining. I would highly recommend it as a great read as these two authors never disappoint.
Rough (Wolf Ranch) by Renee Rose, Vanessa Vale is a wonderful story to read. This is a story I loved reading very much and I highly recommend it to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I’d be happy to head to Wolf Ranch any day. This book was fun and sweet. Boyd isn’t really anything like people presume him to be due to him being a champion bull rider. He and Audrey are looking for a lot of the same things in life, they just have to figure out how to push forward and find them together. Being a wolf and a human causes a lot of complications along the way. Audrey is a very sweet girl, but a little insecure. Boyd may be just the guy to show her how wrong she is about herself. And there is smoking hot phone talk! Lots of hot scenes, fun times and smooth writing make this an excellent read.
Shifter romance, not a genre I read/listen to a lot, but I can appreciate it. Especially when it is done well, like Rough by Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. This is the first book in the Wolf Ranch series, and what a sexy start it is.
Boyd, a growly wolf shifter, meets his mate, his human mate. That’s a problem because pack rule # 1: Never reveal to a human.
What I love about shifters is they don’t play games once they find their mate. They know what they want and go for it. This is precisely how it was with Boyd, who once was a manwhore. He met Audrey, and he knew what he wanted, was clear about it, and went for it.
I can imagine some listeners will think there isn’t enough storyline and too much sex, but sometimes I like that.
The sex scenes start to build long before they actually happen. They are so hot, descriptive, and well-written without being too much.
These authors already prepared and made me curious for the next book(s), especially the story of the Alpha Rob.
The story is narrated by Kylie Stewart, who has a pleasant, soft voice. She has an excellent voice for Boyd. At one point, I even doubted if it was a dual narration.
She brought Boyd and Audrey’s connection to life. I was able to feel every emotion, their need for the other, their despair, pain, etc.
The narration made the story more realistic, it added to the angst and intensity.
If you love a paranormal shifter story in a western setting with lots of steam, this is a must-read.
I love this steamy sexy read.
great story loved it
I saw the cover reveal for Feral and it caught my attention. So while I was trying to figure out what to read next it popped into my head for some reason. So I jumped on GoodReads and checked out the series and liking the sound of Rough I went over and one clicked it.
Boyd was the overly confident, charming man whore of the rodeo circuit who accidentally comes across Audrey, who’s filling in for the doctor for the evening. Now the thing I love about these shifter books is the insta love and the absolute certainty in the relationship.
This book had all of that, along with a growling hero who knew exactly what he wanted. And even though this was insta love there was a good a story and both characters had enough depth to make me emotionally invested in their story and relationship.
Now I am off to read Wild.
One of the biggest reasons why I like and read renee’s books are is, that she never makes me wait too long for the next part and of course because she writes amazing kinky reads!!I have never read cowboy type books before and i must say that this one did not disappoint me at all. The story line was good and the characters were good. This book was a pretty simple read for me and the story was rather short. Here we meet audrey and boyd , where boyd is a sort of cowboy in his place and audrey is a doctor. their chemistry was off the charts and the scenes were very good. I really enjoyed this book as a short steamy read.
This book is recommended to all the contemporary romance lovers with a touch of kink in there steamy scenes.
His wolf said mate … but she’s human.
It was his job to get on the back of a bull, but it was her job to save him when he fell
While I might not write shifter stories, it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy reading them.
Rough is a fast-paced insta-love shifter romance and had me glued to the page. Household? Dinner? Deadlines? Don’t count on me, I’m at Wolf Ranch!
For this book, Renee Rose – queen of collaborative fiction – teams up with Vanessa Vale. And what a team these ladies make! I felt the instant attraction and loved both Boyd and Audrey. The chemistry between the main characters is sizzling hot, but what I especially loved is the depth the characters have.
Buckle up and hang on tight – you’re in for a wild ride!
Dr. Audrey Ames had recently moved to Cooper Valley and worked at Community General Hospital. When the regular rodeo doctor needed a replacement, Audrey volunteered. Straight out of the shoot, Abe, one of the bull-riders, broke his finger and needed it splint. That’s where Boyd found more than he expected. Oh, have you heard about Boyd? He’s the rodeo bull-riding champion from Wolf Ranch over in Cooper Valley. His reputation as a hit it and quit it playboy precedes him. And he has a HUGE secret, he’s a shifter. So when his wolf gets a whiff of Dr. Ames, it declares her his mate which just absolutely blows Boyd’s mind since she’s a human! Reneé Rose and Vanessa Vale have combined their efforts and created such a heartfelt story with characters who are so easy to love or hate, and trust me you’ll know who they are. There is absolutely nothing in this book I did not like and can’t wait to read “Wild” next. Congratulations, ladies.
Boyd and Audrey are whom we follow when we dive into this one. This one has a secret that came out to a doc but not on purpose. How this goes on after that is what this keeps us in the loop of this. She has her eye on him as he does on her with us on them both. This is also only the beginning of a series we need to catch again.
This book was so sweet it warmed me right up. I just could not get enough of Boyd. Yes, he has a reputation of being a player, but he was so sweet, and genuine, and has these childhood emotional scars… he just endeared himself to me from the first moment. Audrey was just as likable. She suffers from a a slightly low self-esteem. But she’s smart, kind, and has Boyd’s heart. I think one of my favorite things about this book is the build up to the climax I knew was coming, that angsty, lump in my throat pinnacle that I always read multiple times. Sooo good. I loved this book and I have to say I am really hoping grumpy big brother gets a book next.
Rough: Wolf Ranch was a thoroughly entertaining read for me. It hit all those bright points that I was looking for in a book right now. It took me away from the trials and tribulations of daily life. I was transported to a more beautiful world. It was kindle-melting HOT. The chemistry between the main characters was instantaneous and off the charts. It had a hot, arrogant, possessive, alpha shifter. And a smart, sweet, and sassy female. And did I mention panty-melting… seriously a HOT book. Which is just what I needed to brighten my day and distract me from life!
I am excited that this is book 1 of a series because I can’t wait to see some of the side characters we were introduced to get their own stories! But in case you were wondering, this book stands entirely on its own, no cliffy, no left wondering what’s going to happen. Just a desire to see some of the others get a HEA too!
This is the first book of the new series with a HEA at the end of this story.
Renee Rose is a one of my favorite one-click authors, she knows how to write sexy shifter stories. Vanessa Vale is a new author to me, this will not be the last book of hers I read. These two authors together make for a fantastic writing duo.
Boyd is normally a fun loving, girl loving bull rider. He loses his concentration on the bull and ends up hurt, enters the cute new doctor, Audrey. She notices his shifter healing ability. How will he be able to convince her to keep his secret. How can she trust him and what he is?
These two authors have a way with dialogue, characters seeming so real with their quirks and all, and the chemistry between the characters is hot – red sizzling hot.
This is a book that is hard to put down and once finished, I was sad there wasn’t more. I can’t wait until the next book in the series come out!!!
Hot sexy shifter and cute doctor = steamy yummy goodness
