Ummmm AHHHHH!!! *freak out dance*
If you’re looking for a phenomenal paranormal shifter read THIS IS IT!!!!
It literally has everything you are looking for!!
Suspense, drama, revenge, romance, swoon-worthy (literal) alpha and so much more that I seriously can’t tell you without spoiling it.
Ryker and Pru have been destined for each other. So many trails, so many heartbreaks, so many betrayals have finally brought them back together only for them to turn around and face the biggest one of all.
I absolutely loved these two! I even fell for the rest of the pack and can’t wait to see who is next.
Love, loved this book and have a feeling I’ll be falling for the whole series just as hard!
I was so mad when I found out she was the white wolf I was pissed how unoriginal I saw it coming from like 3 miles away. The second the mom mentioned the myth I am still a little confused about how she is related to the original white wolf. Another thing I saw coming was Avery who was on the other side. How did now one see this coming. Other than guessing the plot twisted I really enjoyed this book.
This book took me on quite an adventure. Pru has a past she can’t remember and Ryker has a love he can’t forget. Secrets surround them everywhere. I really enjoyed this story and I liked how the characters evolved throughout, great character development. The characters themselves were intriguing and complex. The story kept me interested and wanting to know what happens next. This book built up the next in the series and I would recommend it to other readers.
A Fantastic PNR Read!
4.5 stars!
My love for her is all-consuming, and the thing that keeps my heart beating.
I was instantly consumed myself when reading Wolf Bound. It brought back so much nostalgia from when I used to read shifter/werewolf stories when I was younger. This is my first Kayleigh King read, and it will not be its last. This series has now wormed its way into my heart.
I loved the pace of this book, so much. With it being a fated mates story, it’s pretty obvious that the two main characters will fall pretty quickly. We saw Pru and Ryker develop their relationship in a nice, realistic but quick, easy way. Ryker already knew Pru from his past, and knew she was his mate, so he already had those feelings for her right off the bat. With Pru, her past got taken away from her, and meeting Ryker for what feels like the first time for her, she instantly felt and knew there was a connection. With that, the fall for eachother came so nicely, especially after Pru found out who and what she really is, and that made everything make sense.
Pru is such a strong female character. I loved how she never cracked under the pressure of everything, especially when so much new information was thrown at her basically all at once. She accepted everything, although feeling a little skeptic with certain aspects, but always stayed on her feet. She had such a great support system, so it was really nice seeing how everyone else connected to her and made her feel welcomed.
Ryker is that broody tattooed guy, so he obviously has the appeal right there. But the thing with Ryker, he feels with his whole being. He couldn’t accept his past and what happened, thinking he lost his mate, so he set out a new path for himself and stayed dedicated to enact revenge for her. Once he was finally reunited with his mate and his family, he’s even more loyal and he’s selfless. He’s the perfect guy.
Ryker and Pru were so cute together. They had this cute wit/banter between one another that just kept you smiling. I enjoyed how this wasn’t just a full on light read, there were certain parts of the book that started to take a turn, and you didn’t know what was going to happen. There’s love and loss in this book, and that helps make it feel even more real, because of how these characters had to handle these situations. I loved reading and learning about the lore in this book, and being introduced to all certain types of supernatural creatures. While not all are shown, you do find out the types. I literally adored every side character. The friendship they all had together, and the love, showed that you need friends and family, the ones that care about you, by your side, cause you’re not alone and you’re not feeling anything alone. The only thing that knocked off half a star was the fact that I wish we saw Ryker be a little bit more moody and angsty towards people and not meet Pru again so quickly, but other than that, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves PNR books!
PNR books are a new genre for me. I have been sticking my foot in and feeling this genre around as I look for authors that suck me in with a story!
This is King’s debut novel, but she doesn’t write like a debut author. Her words are strong, the plot has a wonderful flow, and the typical spelling/grammer/plot hole mistakes I usually see with a debut author does not exist.
Ryder thought he lost the love of his life, and Pruitt feels like she doesn’t have a place to land. These two end up in Montana running into each other at Ryder family home. In Montana Pruitt feels she is now a part of something, and then she finds out that the people she sees as family is a part of a whole other world. Ryder comes from a family of wolf shifters. As Pruitt realizes her feelings for Ryder are strong she also realizes she won’t ever be able to compete with the ghost of Grey. Tigether these two end up on an adventure that has them questioning what is love, family, and friends.
Great book and I am excited to dive into more books by this new to me author.
This is a great first novel from a promising author. I love shifter stories, and Kayleigh captures the essence of the shifter story, and the romance was sweet and tender while we had more danger and intrigue in the secondary plot around the rogues and an old foe.
I really loved all of the characters- secondary and main. Kayleigh does a great job of balancing danger with the sweet, and sometimes funny- and our leading man is deliciously growly and broody, but also SOO swoony. Total dream boat- Kayleigh King can write a man!
This story has great bones overall- all the makings of a kick ass story, but with a few things that were less my reading style. The pacing was a bit slow for me, both in waiting to get to both the romance and the action. That is normal for the beginning of a series, especially one such as this that requires more world building. While I liked the focus on the ensemble- that really created the pack and family dynamic, it did mean it took our couple a bit longer than I wanted to kick off (or even really meet). And, overall, I just wanted a bit more romantic time between the two of them- more one-on-one scenes to build their chemistry. This book was also not as sexy (the sex scenes were not explicit, more fade to black) than I’m used to in a shifter story (and I personally prefer a bit more steam in general, though still liked what we got here).
Overall a great start to a series and an enjoyable read. I’m excited for some other characters to get their stories- though it looks like the one I’m really interested in will have to wait until the finale!
PS: I saw a few other reviews that pointed to a plot hole, one that I felt was actually explained (not everyone goes rogue at the same age)- so this was not something I noticed.
There’s just something about this book
This book gripped me from the start. When a book manages to grab my attention right from the opening sentence, then I know that I’m definitely going to enjoy it. Which was the case with this one. Even though the blurb was pretty telling of the storyline, I was surprised by the unique plot and the emotion behind the words. For me, I think it got to the 50-60% line that it all became a bit predictable for me. Which in then left me a little bored because I knew everything that was going to happen but followed through simply because of the story.
My first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last. I’m intrigued by this series and can’t wait to read the next book.
I absolutely adored this story. Pruitt and Ryker have the sweetest love story and it’s everything you would want in a paranormal romance. There are so many twists and discoveries made in the book that I can’t divulge too much without spoiling a plot point.
My only issue with the entire book, is the fight with Nickolas. It was so underwhelming and didn’t live up to the build up.
5 Well done Kayleigh! I was truly impressed with the level of sophistication in PLOT and PACING! I loved the world setting, loved all the characters, and just overall how well-rounded it was! Reading this you certainly couldn’t have guessed that it is a debut novel!
I think Pru is intelligent, reasonable, and knows what she wants. I relate to her a lot, the feeling of this unexplained emptiness… I’m pretty sure I don’t have anemia and glowing eyes though ( I WISH! ) and I love how she quickly adapts to the situation and just how smart she is!
Ryker is unapologetically alpha but also tender and loyal to his family and mate. Also, can we talk about how hot Ryker is….? The brooding hero…. with tattoos, piercing blue eyes, and protective nature…
I loved the dynamic of their relationship, they never had any real conflicts and all the drama had been from the situation they were in and not because of some stupid misunderstanding that lasts for like 1/2 of the book. (which I’ve read and was really annoyed) I like the pacing too! Like bam 10% in its action, it’s going forward! There isn’t much angst due to the speed which I do appreciate after reading so many angsty books out there that leaves you emotionally drained (sometimes in the best way).
I also love the humor and the irony and just like sarcasm, it makes it really enjoyable! This is a very fast-paced book with no BS and just brings you right into their amazing world! This book gets intense real quick and before you know it, you’ve devoured a nearly 400 paged book!
The Weylyns is definitely everything you can want from a second family! Remi is just unapologetically sassy and feisty, and the best friend I wish I had haha. The dynamic of the story is very healthy and just heartwarming! I love the concept behind the White Wolf Prophecy too!
That being said I am so excited about the next book in the series! The teaser at the end of the book totally got me hooked to the next couple Ranger and Winslow! It is a very natural and smooth transition and logical next book!
Suggestion:
I think if I had to be very picky and be a critic the only thing I would maybe suggest is that maybe develop the chemistry slightly more for Ryder and Pruitt but I do get that it is a fated mate novel so it doesn’t necessarily need this. I think maybe a bit more time focusing on the friendship aspect in the latter part of the book would also be beneficial to the overall smoothness!
