Waking up each day is a gift….On her 21st birthday, someone slipped a potent drug combination into socialite Aurora Brightwell’s champagne, putting her in a coma for the next ten years. It’s been a long road back, and it’s time to reclaim the life she lost and find out exactly what happened on that fateful night. Financier Kincade Enright has his own reason for helping Aurora discover who … helping Aurora discover who poisoned her, but for the time being he’s keeping that – and his true identity – to himself. What he can’t keep hidden though, are his growing feelings for the one-time paparazzi darling and party-girl.
When this prince of finance joins forces with the former sleeping beauty, nothing can stop them from finding the answers they seek…or prevent the powerful emotions developing between them as they search for the truth.

This was my first read by this author and I’ve never heard of her before. I love having a book blind-date to introduce me to new-to-me authors.
Aurora’s story is interesting and entertaining, imagine waking up after 10 years in a coma. The world has moved on, friends living their lives but for family their life stopped and remained at your hospital bed. The main part of this story takes place a further five years after waking, relearning all motor skills and finally wanting to know how and why. Was she poisoned on purpose or by accident? It took me a few chapters to get into it but once I was hooked I couldn’t put it down.
Great plot, interesting and mostly likeable characters. I was thoroughly entertained.
When it comes to contemporary romance, it normally takes something pretty special for me to go all in. But this author has a way of accomplishing that and this story is suspenseful, honest and enchanting, all in one. Taken as a modern day Sleeping Beauty, this book hit most of the spots for me. A charming story that I could easily put back on my to-be-read-again shelf. We meet Aurora on the night of her 21st birthday, a rich socialite that is continually in the society pages and in the rag newspapers about her party life, until her party is upended with her being drugged and sent into a 10 year coma. The book then picks up 15 years later, when Aurora has worked hard to get her life back after 10 years in a coma. Slowly the pieces of her life, and the night she almost died comes together, and the author does it an unhurried and organic way that will keep you up late reading.
There is one typo that repeats quite often, about retired detective Nick Ramon, which spells his last name “Roman” a few times, but it’s easy to discard. Along with a nice mystery, there is a wonderful love story and also a story of loyal friends. Easily recommended.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Aurora at twenty-one her life was overwhelmed someone drugged her and that knocked out had lasted ten years. Kincade seems to get drawn into her. It was hot, twists, suspense.

This story focuses on Financier Kincade Enright and socialite Aurora Brightwell’s getting together to investigate who would drug her drink years ago that ended up putting her in a coma. While they are working together they start getting strong feelings for each other. I loved the characters in this book they all had a great part to play. The flow of the storyline was awesome.

Work. Very intriguing. It ran off hot and cold for me. But she had to get through the corner to get to the hot parts. AJ basically was a social light that somehow got her self in tangled in getting sluts one too many Mickey’s. 21st birthday wakes up now is the 31st birthday more or less. Four years of extenuating, stressful physical therapy to get her life back on track. She now has met someone and seems like love. Not instant love but it’s blossoming into love. These two characters Cade and AJ are making their rounds in this book. But eventually you do wanna know what happened 10 years ago technically 15 years ago when someone or some persons caused physically harm to your person. So now we have this suspense in whodunit? Some people are providing answers summer not people are not being truthful. There’s only so many people you can trust. As you slept life went on and now you’re to get your life back.

Aurora has lost 10 years of her life after being drugged and ending up in a coma. She has plenty to learn again and figure out in her life. Love wasn’t any part of her plan…
A great story that pulls you in, fantastic characters you’ll easily fall in love with and a wonderful romantic read for your summer evenings sitting in your porch swing.

GREAT CHARACTERS
WOKE is a stand-alone contemporary suspense-romance. It starts on Aurora’s 21st birthday, but the majority of the book continues when she is 36.
Though the “suspense” is slow and predictable, the romance is beautifully arranged. Actually, there are two romances and they are both wonderful. The characters really carry this story, more than the action. Though the narrative seemed to drag at times, I loved Aurora (A.J.) and Cade enough to want to push through until the inevitable endings.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

She awakens from a ten year coma…
When NYC socialite Rory Brightwell’s champagne is spiked with drugs during her 21st birthday celebration, she falls into a 10 year coma.
Her miraculous awakening is the start of Peggy Jaeger’s clever tale Woke. Present day Rory is a new woman with a new life and a new name. Now known as A.J., this woke woman has a burning desire to do good in the world and a secret desire to figure out who dropped drugs into her drink all those years ago and why.
Key to this mystery is Cade Enright who awakens A.J.’s dormant romantic life.
A.J.’s amazing recovery is aided by her loving mother, Callie and devoted nanny, Maeve and who can blame them? They always hoped but never quite believed their darling would awaken.
Who did the evil deed and why? Suffice to say, A.J gets to the bottom of it and never loses her humanity and plain gratitude for life, and loved ones. There is even a secondary romance for the sharp and stalwart Maeve.
The mystery is clever, the dialogue snappy and the NYC society setting divine.
AJ previous known as Aurora has had a hard road these last 5 years after waking from a 10 year coma, she had to learn so much all over again and get use to the new world she woke up in and find her place in it. Love hadn’t been on her schedule of things to do but Cade makes her feel alive again and doesn’t want to take no for an answer, but now she is also looking into what happened 15 years ago and secrets will come out. I just loved Maeve and AJ’s Mum with how much they care and she really does have two Mum’s, Cade is well a bit caging on things but you do feel like he is really falling for AJ while Phil her supposed bestie definitely has secrets but what we don’t know. Get settled in as you won’t be moving until what happened 15 years ago is uncovered and you find out if AJ gets her happy ever after, but be ready for some twists and surprises you don’t see coming!!!

Wonderful read about perseverance, willpower and love. Aurora awakes from a coma and through perseverance and her strength, she overcome her weaknesses and learn to walk, run and function in a new world. She has the loving support of her mom and Maeve and finds love and eventually through sheer grit and her intelligence, does she discover what happened to her. Amazing storyline, wonderful emotional loving and realistic characters. A must read !

Drugged at her 21st birthday party, Aurora nearly died, then spent 10 years in a coma. She moves forward after waking, thanks to her devoted mother and their housekeeper, to the point of training to run the NYC marathon, and meeting and dating someone she met at a fundraiser. AJ, as she’s now known, wants to know what happened, and goes in search of someone who can help her. I’ve read two other books from this author, both very nice romances. But holy crapoly – I had no idea that Ms. Jaeger could write such a captivating and suspenseful romance. This story roped me in at the beginning, and never let up. The romance is wonderful. Cade and AJ are just perfect together, until he omits something that she might think to be important. Her mother is a bit overprotective at times, but considering all that AJ went through, fairly understandable, and Mom is supportive. Maeve, their housekeeper, has worked for the family since she came to the US, and she’s so much more than just “the help” – she gave up her chance at forever to take care of AJ when she was comatose. Nick, the detective who worked her case, is a really great guy, and I love AJ’s matchmaking attempt. Best quote in the book: “Forgiveness is a gift, according to Maeve, that should be doled out often, and without incurring interest.”

What a story! A woman’s life is lost to a coma for fifteen years because of jealousy! I was not putting this book down until I finished reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a romance with many questions, twists and turns. It is Aurora and Cade’s story, and what a story it is Aurora woke after a ten year coma. He is part of her past and future. You need to read this book. I do not want to leave spoilers in my review, but you will not regret picking up this book

Woke is another great read from Peggy Jeager. A story about surviving and helping others. Aurora is living a completely different life as she did before her 21st birthday. The focus of newborn Aurora is to do a normal everyday task until she is stronger enough. In her new job, she meets Kade and a long-dead and uninteresting parts came to life. Aurora is really starting to live again and she wants to find what really happened on her 21st birthday. A romantic interesting story with a mystery to resolve. Both Aurora and Kade are interesting and make a lovely couple.

Loved the twist on Sleeping Beauty.
A delightful twist on Sleeping Beauty set in present-day NYC. Peggy Jaeger’s vivid imagination is a plus for her readers when she comes up with truly original story lines!
This book had a great twist on the classic Sleeping Beauty – When Aurora turns 21 her life changes forever and when she wakes up she needs to find out the truth, who wanted to hurt her. I did guess correctly at who it was but loved how she pulled people into her life and how it changed those she cared for most forever. Definitely recommend if you like a steamy romance.
A truly amazing story. I could not put it down once I started I just had to know what happens next. I really loved the characters.

I really enjoyed this page turner about Aurora, but she likes to be called A.J. now. On the night of her twenty-first birthday, someone put drugs in her champagne glass, which caused her to be in a coma for ten years. It’s been five years since she woke up. While at the Till for her physical therapy appointment, she literally bumps into a man. Kincade (Cade) Enright is the guy she was so attracted to and here he is at the charity auction. I really loved all of these characters and I loved the second chance story told about Maeve and Nick. No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
