The “wonderfully creative, seamless, and stirring” debut novel in the Sword of Truth epic fantasy series by the #1 New York Times bestselling author (Kirkus). Terry Goodkind’s debut novel, Wizard’s First Rule, was a phenomenon from the moment it was first published by Tor Books in 1994. In it, readers are drawn into the magical New World, where ordinary Westland forest guide Richard Cypher … Westland forest guide Richard Cypher accepts his extraordinary destiny. I enjoyed the entire series
This is an awesome introduction to the Midlands, and Damar! You don’t get all of the consistent characters through Goodkind’s “Sword Of Truth,” series but you get most of them, plus you meet Darken Rahl who’s steadfast character reference throughout the whole, long series! Sword’s definitely come into play, but so do a bunch of other things that I …
The Sword Of Truth was the first fantasy series I really enjoyed. Unlike other novels that I read in the genre before, Goodkind focuses on character development as opposed to world building. Although the world and magic system are interesting, characters like Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell, and Zedd really make the story shine. I highly recommend …
This book was fun and engaging, as the series goes on I couldn’t. I believe by the third book I was bored to tears.
Great book…great story…wonderful, rich characters. You’ll not forget it.
I first read this book when I was perhaps 14. It was one of the first adult fantasy novels I’d ever read, and after I read it, there was no way I was going back to YA novels (except Harry Potter). I’ve now read this novel five times. The first two times were because I fell in love with the author’s stories because he was one of the gateway …
This is an excellent introduction to this series. It is well written and keeps you wanting for more. Richard Rahl is well developed and is someone you want to rote for from the start to the end.
The first and the best of this series
this book was such a great read, it started off kind of slow but picked up pretty good. I loved all the characters they brought in, each with their own personalities and tragedies. I was really drawn in to them as an actual person and connected with them with. in my opinion this book was well written.
One of my favourite series, this intro to Kahlan and Richard is the first of many great adventures.
Good, if not overly original, start to a series that went on long after I gave up.
Definitely set the hook deep with need to read the whole series!
Part of a terrible series. Awful characters, very poorly written
I love The Sword of Truth Series so much. If it were possible for me to rate it ten stars, I would. Epic Fantasy quests, a plan to destroy the world of life, and mythical monsters are but a few great attributes of this magical series.
Highly recommended. Think ‘The Wheel of Time’ but for a slightly younger audience.
Please note: This series …
Currently reading the whole series. Bought them all at once so I could “binge” read. Plot is phenomenal, best read in order! Each book is about 800 pages,so get your bubble bath ready!
This is one of the best series written. Most may know the tv series that couldn’t do Justice to the written word.
The first of the series featuring Richard and Kahlan, this is one of my all-time favorite books. I’ve read every one and they’re all fabulous!!
This is one of my favorite books ever!
Fantastic first book to a fantastic series, A young woodsman discovers his life is not what he thought is was after rescuing a mysterious young woman. With the help of his aged mentor he is set on the path to the other side of the Veil and adventures beyond his dreams. He is given the title of Seeker along with the sword of Truth. He and his …
Pretty good first book. Later books in the series are trash, though.
