The “wonderfully creative, seamless, and stirring” debut novel in the Sword of Truth epic fantasy series by the #1 New York Times bestselling author (Kirkus). Terry Goodkind’s debut novel, Wizard’s First Rule, was a phenomenon from the moment it was first published by Tor Books in 1994. In it, readers are drawn into the magical New World, where ordinary Westland forest guide Richard Cypher … Westland forest guide Richard Cypher accepts his extraordinary destiny. The first book of a great series
Loved this book
This entire series is one of my favorites.
I really liked Wizard’s First Rule, It showed ma a magical world unlike others I’ve read.
However, the later books in the series might beat the libertarian drum a bit too loudly for some people’s tastes. Still even there, the stories are solid and engaging.
I read this book years ago in print but I loved the entire series
i think you mislead people into signing up by saying they can read books for free but that is not the case. you are selling books and offer only what you want for free shame on you.
Outstanding. If you like this genera you will love this book. There is a questionable sub-plot that doesn’t really apply to main theme. For that reason I would not recommend for younger readers.
Definitely, one of my favorite authors!
Wonderful series!
I’ve read almost every word Terry has written and have enjoyed the wizards first rule series most of all ( all 15 book)!
Best fantasy series
I loved this series! You will come to love so many characters in the following books, as they become like family to you. Just stop reading the series AFTER Chainfire. I wish I hadn’t read on……It’s not that the books are bad, it’s just I’m a happily ever after type of gal and my heart kept getting broken.
I liked it better before someone pointed out the politics. D’oh, sorry.
This book was the beginning of my journey of addiction to books. It was my first large book and I’ve never looked back! I’ve read this book 10+ times. I love the characters, the story and the world.
Richard and Kahlan’s story is one to learn about. There is adventure, love, betrayal, life/death scenarios, and magic (and dragons!!)
Richard Cypher is a great reluctant hero. He is astute and competent in his own right, but entering the world of wizardry makes him a definite fish out of water. There are some parallels to other fantasy works, like The Dragon Bone Chair by Williams, but this reluctant hero is not so much formed by his experiences. When it all starts, he’s an …
Love his characters and their strong moral values, plus the love story is one of the greatest in all literature.
I liked the story but the writing was very hard to read, he wondered and repeated things many times. I quit reading Terry Goodkind.
Great series.
Wizard’s First Rule is a great book, I’ve read it 12 times. It is important to try to put yourself in the shoes of the characters, and make their world yours while reading. You should try to do that for every book you read though. I find many people don’t, that is the reason why I say this.
You should also live by the rules of the world you’re …
Loved this series. The first book, of course, is the best. Two worlds next to one another, one with magic and one without. Good vs evil and not all evil is bad. Recommended this to family and friends
