The quest continues, this time with our heroes split into two teams, each with their own targets – or Objects of Power – to acquire. The journey is all according to the prophecies; the seers’ words gradually turn to the truth as the tale unfolds. And let me tell you, it is done most expertly, weaving an intricate web of political as well as magical revolutions!
In this instalment, you get to see how the world is changing before your very eyes, and how our cast of misfits attempt to survive and adapt accordingly. With the additions of their own Objects of Power, they are obligated to learn (often the hard way) how to wield forces normally beyond their control. This is an exciting, fast-paced, action-packed, and downright awesome part of the series, setting up even more tension for the ending as (I believe) it will start unfolding from the next book onwards. There is an epic showdown on the horizon – I can taste it!!
So, what else is good in this book? Well, let me tell you – everything! The characters keep their previously established level of hilarity, banter, depth, spirit, and warmth. Every single one has a place in this story, and I thoroughly enjoy following along on their individual journeys.
I won’t pretend like the romance part didn’t help get me more invested. I’m a romantic at heart, so yes, it does sway me perhaps a little more than it should. But regardless, the characters are all well-developed and fleshed-out, no Mary Sues/Stues in sight, and they are distinct, likeable (loveable, even) and relatable! Everything I want in characters!
As to the story? The twists! The turns! One, in particular, I did not see coming, and I’m intrigued to see where this is going.
Trust me when I say: the Fate of Wizardoms is at hand, and I will most definitely come along for the ride and see this to the very end!
The main characters are set on a quest to find objects that are magic that could save the world. Those objects change the characters who wield them too. Each book in the series is better than the last.
Wizardoms: Objects of Power (Fate of Wizardoms Book 4). my tenth read from author Jeffrey L. Kohanek. Picks up seamlessly from the end of Temple of the Oracle (Fate of Wizardoms, #3). The tension & suspense continue to ratchet up throughout the book’s length. 10-hrs 6-minutes/357-pages but reads even longer with the attention to detail written into the story. Kohanek’s fantasy worlds have become one of my favorite fantasy reads. AS always I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Travis Baldree. I look forward to reading Wizardoms: Rise of a Wizard Queen (Fate of Wizardoms Book 5) just as soon as I get it. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Objects of Power by Jeffrey L. Kohanek is Book 4 in the Fate of Wizardoms series. Our heroes get split up into two groups. Jace finds himself in a heap of trouble. Has his luck finally run out? Meanwhile, Roah and Blythe get to shine in their darkest moments. I love it when the dragon makes an appearance. There’s also a jaw-dropping reveal that might leave you with more questions than answers.
This series has classic fantasy elements, but the adventures and intrigue keep it unpredictable. The pacing is good throughout. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
I listened to the audiobook. Travis Baldree does an excellent job narrating the voices of all the different characters. I received an Audible code from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.
