An enjoyable suspense romance, This book has enough of both to keep the reader entertained right through to the HEA
an enjoyable take on the sisters best friend trope, an added thrill of a murder, witness protection and a slightly damaged hero bring much more to enhance this story
I loved how wild Fallon was, her loyalty to Addy and how she bounced back from all that life threw at her, even when Shane didn’t recognise that at all and considered her a spoilt reckless annoyance.
Shane was so linear in his thinking of what he needed in life and what his goals were so the chaos Fallon brought to challenge that was fun to read and they did set the pages on fire too!
Enjoyable and hoping we get to read about the other GDG team members
Someone didn’t tell Fallon she was born under an unlucky star, but she has received the message loud and clear. At least that is what she believes, her birthdays have become a perpetual source of discontent. Holding true to form, her day goes from bad to horrendous when she witnesses a murder and is threatened by the killer. Shane Roarke is determined to keep his sister’s best friend safe at all costs. The history between the two is rife with intensity, emotion, drama and angst. Add to the mix a ruthless killer, danger and seething attraction you get an entertaining read.
Non-stop action and explosive chemistry!
This exciting story combines several of my favorite tropes – ex-military, bodyguard, best friend’s older brother – into a thrilling suspense story filled with every conceivable kind of action along with a surprising betrayal twist and enough steam to peel wallpaper.
Fallon is lying low after refusing witness protection, just waiting for the trial and rebuilding her life. Once a leak in the police department is uncovered, however, her best friend calls her older brother – now a security specialist – and asks him to step in to protect Fallon. Shane is determined to do whatever it takes – whatever it costs – to keep Fallon safe, and that includes keeping his hands off her despite the sizzling chemistry that has always been between them.
Fallon is a delightful character, strong when she needs to be with an endearing layer of vulnerability. She doesn’t want to want Shane, but she’s brave enough to face the facts and she’s not the least bit intimidated by his frosty demeanor around her.
Make yourself comfortable before you start this book, because the action is fast and furious and never lets up until the final bullet is fired. I read this in one sitting and loved every bit of it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Witness to Passion is book one in the Guarding Her Body series by Naima Simone. This book is a re-release but none of the content or pop culture references appear dated. Ms. Simone always gives us interesting characters with depth and complexity. Fallon Wayland happens to be in the wrong place at totally the wrong time. It is her birthday and according to her all her birthdays are less than stellar. For example, on her 18th birthday she took a chance and kissed her best friend’s brother, Shane Roarke. After a moment where it seemed like he reciprocated, Shane rejected her. Now on her 25th birthday, she is witness to a gang related murder. Could this day get any worse? Yes!! The murderer warns her about going to the police. When Shane is made privy to her dilemma, he is livid. He can not understand why she did not turn to him for protection. This book is a fast paced, action filled fight for survival. Shane makes it his business to ensure that Fallon comes through this situation unscathed. In order to do so he must keep her close. The only question is will he be able to keep her safe and resist his long held feelings for her?
This book has been sent to me as an ARC for an honest review.
I love love love this book! This is the first book I read from this author but it’s not going to be the last!
For Fallon Wayland, birthdays are just code for dissaster. This year is shaping up to be no different. Unfairly fired from her job, dumped by her boyfriend, and oh yes, witnessing the murder of a lord of the local crime family… Yeah, birthdays suck.
Ever since a disastrous, hot-as-hell kiss years ago, soldier-turned-security specialist Shane Roarke has avoided his baby sister’s reckless—and gorgeous—best friend. Yet when her life is threatened after she witnesses a gang hit, he insists on protecting her…even if she objects.
The two are forced to hole up in a safe house. Alone. Passion long denied erupts between them, burning away their inhibitions. But even as layers—and clothes—are peeled away, danger closes in. Shane and Fallon might finally have a chance at love…if they survive long enough to see it.
OMG these too!!! I couldn’t stop reading. So perfect, so engaging! These are great, deep characters. Strong, interesting ones…The chemistry between them is off the chart, but there’s also an emotional bond between them too. And the sex! SIGH.
The book is well written, easy to read and most enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

Review:
I loved it! What a nice surprise. Lately I didn’t have much luck in finding amazing books but this one was really good. It had fun banter, great characters, great chemistry and a good story.
Fallon was really sassy and I loved it and it was clear that Shane was into her but was holding himself back.
What is this book about:
Fallon doesn’t have the best of luck. While her parents where rich and they never had to struggle to get around, she wasn’t exactly wanted. Her mother is on her 5th (or so) marriage and her father is rather distant. Anyhow, she remembers lusting after her best friends brother, Shane, since forever but after a disastrous kiss, well the kiss was great but Shane’s reaction not so much, she knew it would never happen.
So yeah Fallon never had the greatest birthdays either, waiting for her father to show up on one, having her mother go on a cruise with her new husband….without her, getting rejected by her crush, and now this one. Witnessing a gang related murder and getting threatened by the killer.
Shane runs his own security company after he retired from the military, with some friends, and when he hears about what happened to Fallon from his sister he is pissed that Fallon didn’t contact him herself. The police are underfunded and understaffed and are not doing a great job seeing that Fallon’s identity was leaked to the gang that wants her dead for talking. He is going to make sure Fallon stay’s save whether she want’s his protection or not. What Shane didn’t expect was for his restraint to be tested as much as it is while he is around Fallon.
What did I like/love:
I loved the interaction between Fallon and Shane. There was some great sass and great chemistry between them. The suspense wasn’t there all that much but just enough to keep things interesting. I had my suspicions on who was the leak but I’m glad the author fitted in that twist.
