Taut Writing and Breakneck Pacing That Will Keep Readers Up All NightKatie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business.… out of business.
Daniel might be concerned, but he’s not convinced that a bodyguard–and a female one at that–is necessary. A new attack and his niece’s urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who’s behind the intimidation and threats–before a would-be killer strikes again.
Witty dialogue and a simmering attraction will have readers flying through this tension-laced thriller. Eason exercises complete control of her readers’ emotions as they race through the pages to discover the truth.

I loved this second book in the Elite Guardians series! With lots of action, suspense, and danger, this is a fast-paced romantic suspense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Daniel was such a good strong male character. He’s a great boss, has taken in his niece to raise, and had been a Marine, so he had the ability to focus and think clearly in crisis mode. And although he had the basic instinct to want to take charge and be the one who protects everyone, he’s good about recognizing that Katie had skills of her own and could handle the pressure. I loved Katie and Daniel’s relationship and how it developed naturally throughout the story.
Katie was also a strong character with plenty of training to carry her through her bodyguard assignments. However, she’s also working through a tragedy from her past that has caused her to leave her chosen field and work as a bodyguard. After being hired by Daniel’s niece to guard him, she finds herself facing her biggest fear and turning to her faith to get her through it.
Daniel’s niece, Riley, was also a wonderful character. For a teenager, Riley had a lot of common sense and was very mature. Having been forced to grow up fast after the death of her parents, Riley was very concerned about losing her uncle. After hiring the bodyguards she continued to have an active role in what was happening.
Without Warning by Lynette Eason is an exciting contemporary suspense. It is the second book in the Elite Guardians series but can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed meeting up with familiar faces.
The Elite Guardians are a unit of female bodyguards who form a tight bond and have each other’s backs. Without Warning focuses on Katie.
When life is good – pray. When life is tough – pray. God always hears our prayers. “Would God listen to him?” Yes, absolutely. God celebrates when a prodigal returns to the fold. God always answers our prayers but not necessarily in ways we could have imagined.
Life has dealt blows. Sometimes we blame God. “Forgive God. It’s not His fault.” Hardships in life are not caused by God but He can turn situations around. As in Genesis 50, what others meant for harm, God used for good.
God speaks to us still today. His voice is not often audible but He speaks to our heart or through ‘God nudges.’ “Gut instinct. Divine intervention. He’d learned not to ignore it.” When God nudges us, we need to pay attention.
Wealth and the love of money corrupts lives. There is nothing wrong with having wealth if we use it for good. However when we make wealth the god of our lives, we are in trouble.
Once more I loved all the characters who were realistic and likable.
I love this Elite Guardians series. All the stories are cracking and totally thrilling and exciting.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
Lynette Eason’s books are difficult to put down. Excellent writer!!!!
Great suspense series as with all Lynette Eason series. They address hard issues and
really make you think.
I really like this series! The characters grip you and pull you in. I didn’t want to put it down! My favorite books and authors get read more than once because you can go deeper the second time around. I will definitely be reading this again!
I enjoyed every book in this series. I really love the characters. The story is actioned packed and I couldn’t stop reading until I was finished with the book. I love the way faith is in wach story.
Awesome story!
Lynette Eason is one of my favorite romantic suspense writers. She knows what the genre readers desire and delivers without hesitation. From the first chapter, Eason does a good job at inviting me into the suspense and doesn’t let go until the end of the novel. Without Warning is no expectation.
I enjoy how Eason drew me into the writing. First, the setting is a typical American neighborhood where everyone pay attention when something happens or they are completely ignoring what happens around them. Eason’s quick writing with the right amount of dialogue and prose throws me into the action right away, inviting me into the action.
Speaking of the action, Without Warning begins with a dead body hanging from the pipes in a restaurant’s basement and keeps moving throughout the whole book. I really didn’t want to put the book down. It was original and completely unpredictable. Yes, I have read TONS of romantic suspense novels and usually have majority of them figured out before the end of the novel, but Eason does a good job at keeping me quessing.
With the characters of Katie and Daniel, I enjoyed getting to know them better. Katie was introduced in the first book Always Watching, and I couldn’t wait to see her in her own story. By moving through the women who make up this bodyguard position from the Elite Guardians Agency, I get to observe how each one of their personal struggles. Eason has done her research on what it takes to diffuse a bomb and throws Katie into a situation to face her worst fears. As for Daniel, he is an admirable hero who has taken in his teenage niece and is a great boss to his employees because he isn’t afraid to work right alongside them. As for the romance, it was a little too fast for me. Daniel and Katie weren’t together that long, and they were already feeling emotions for each other. I didn’t like that.
Always thrilling, Lynette Eason has created another hit out of the park with her next installment in her Elite Guardians series Without Warning. With non-stop action and characters that are deepened, I really can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of Without Warning from Revell Publishing and the opinions stated are all my own.
I loved every minute of this thrill ride. How could a strong former military man need a bodyguard, particularly a female one? Have a loving relative force one upon him and make that bodyguard equally matched intellectually. Good chemistry ensues. is at my website.
What a series!
Great second part of the Elite Guardian series. Strong female lead, good character relationships. I loved the uncle-niece interaction. It was a beautiful portrayal of love. While there is romance, it doesn’t overwhelm the plot, and it’s actually kind of cute.
I like that Katie has real issues: PTSD and some estrangement with her family.
“Without Warning” is the second book in the Elite Guardians Agency Series. Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency actually stumbles upon her next assignment by accident. She was driving and spotted blue lights at a familiar restaurant. She stops to investigate, only to discover that the owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who is trying to put him out of business. At first Daniel is uninterested in a bodyguard believing in his skills with weapons to protect himself. Then his niece urges him to reconsider after a second attack. Daniel and Katie work together to try to figure out who is behind the intimidation and threats BEFORE the would-be killer strikes again. Katie and Daniel grow closer as they struggle to find out why and who is behind the burning down of one of Daniel’s restaurant and the murder at one of his restaurants. The romance between Daniel and Katie was enjoyable. The growing suspense and effort to find out who and why all of the events occurred will keep readers glued to this story. Definitely highly recommend this story to readers who enjoy suspenseful romances.
