Every word of the “John Clark” origin story is exciting and outlandish.
In my opinion, Mr. CLANCY’S best novel! The complete story of Mr. Clark ‘s past that led him down his path through the many books we all love. A fabulous read!
Great book by a great author love Clancy
Excellent book. (But what else would I expect from Tom Clancy?)
I read this book when it was first published. I enjoyed it then. I want to read it again, so I purchased ie as an ebook this time.
As one reviewer mentioned when it first came out, Clancy can get quite wordy. They gave the example of some character using a ballpoint pen, saying that Clancy will take 5 pages to describe the pen itself…and another 5 pages to describe the ink in the pen.
However, Clancy has remained one of my 2 favorite authors…Clive Cussler is the other favorite author.
This book is why I miss Tom Clancy. A unique talent.
Typical of his books with a lot of twists and turns
It was just too gross
Loved It! Tom Clancy always keeps me “hooked”. I did not want to put the book down.
One of his best!
Great read with many plots intersecting. You get the first look at how John Clark came about
One of his best
It was great to see where this character came from. Great read
trash
For people who love Tom Clancy, 2 words…….John Clark! Just saying
This patriotic action adventure involving the U.S. military, municipal police departments, federal crime investigation, diplomatic departments and organized crime organizations provides an interesting tale of two separate sets of circumstances relating actions establishing the main character ‘s personality and plot of the story. As the title implies, there are men receiving punishment for bad things they have done by people who have not the legal authority to punish. It brings into question some tenants of our justice system and foreign societies by relating some acts of inhuman behaviour, both by individuals and diverse cultures in general. Not for the meek.
This book was a quick and enjoyable read. I haven’t read Clancy in a long time, and had forgotten how frequently he interlards his narratives with inflated, tendentious, and pompous sermonizing. Notwithstanding that, the bad guys are truly bad, and good guys are truly good, and the story moves along briskly. Good fun.
By the time Clancy got to the John Clark series, he had developed a tendency to lean on motive to the point of interfering with narrative flow. It’s mildly annoying, but still….it’s Tom Clancy.
A dark read, but I expected it would be given the life John must have lead. Tom Clancy style, which I love. Still, not as good as other Clancy classics, thus 4 stars.
Long and detailed as typical with Clancy but hard to put down. Some parts are brutal but it keeps you turning the pages.
