Their first official case as a task force doesn’t take Brantley Walker and Reese Tavoularis far from home. Getting right down to business, the Off the Books task force prioritizes a case of a fifteen-year-old girl who went missing nine years earlier from the same small town they grew up in: Coyote Ridge, Texas. While it appears she vanished without a trace, they soon find themselves uncovering … uncovering disturbing evidence that points directly to someone the town once trusted.
While Brantley and Reese set out to find closure for the girl’s family, they’re on a bumpy ride of their own. Not only are they embarking on new careers, they are also venturing into uncharted territory as far as their relationship goes.

Brantley Walker: Off the Books, Book 2
By: Nicole Edwards
Narrated by: Tor Thom, Charley Ongel
Wow! This book is packed for of it all! Suspense, a budding company and a relationship that is about to finally come to fruition! Brantley and Reese have been taking it slow, but the bumps in the road that Reese keeps taking are halting their progress. Unable to wrap his head around the fact that he is falling for a man, Reese and Brantley are struggling with their attraction. But this does not keep them from taking on their first case. Lauren has been missing for nine years. Now another woman has gone missing with the same circumstances and these two are not going to stop until they find the answers. Will they get to her in time? Is it tied to Lauren’s case? And we can’t forget about JJ! This woman is full of spunk! Her days with Dante, are they numbered now that the handsome detective is helping out? Heat, steam, suspense, it’s all there in this second book in the Off the Books series. Loving it so far and can’t wait for the the third book!
Tor Thom and Charlie Ongel continue their fabulous narration of this series. I am loving the voices Thom is using for Brantley and Reese. The commanding alpha tones, the slight southern twang, all lead to a fantastic perception of these characters. Ongel adds to the fun with her take on JJ, full of spirit and wise cracks. Loving these two in this series!

I fell in love with Reese and Brantley in book 1 and I love them more in this book. The push and pull Reese is feeling is written to feel so real and it does! I am glad. I like the new character Baz. His chemistry fits well with the team especially JJ! I look forward to the next installment of this series. I hope it continues indefinitely as I really like the stories. You get a complete story but you also get a touch of the Walkers so it is a win win!!!
Another Hot Cover. This was book 2 in the “Off the Books” series. Brantley and Reese pick up where they left off and they also have there first case. Reese is still confused about his feelings for Brantley. While working the new case of a missing girl they get closer although not without a few bumps along the way like when Reese was having a drink with the new Walker cousin who is taking over the demo business or when going out on a date and Reese had the panic attack about people knowing. I really like JJ and I hope she gets her happy ending. When another girl goes missing Brantley knows it is connected to the one they are working on. In this book we also get to see that there feelings are growing for one another. At first I had issues with Reese but as the book went on I understood that he was really struggling with his feelings and the fact that he was straight falling in love with another man. I loved that Brantley was patient but it wore off. The sex scenes in this book were hot. As the team comes together we meet a new player a detective with Austin PD. These two belonged together. I hope that in the next book we will learn more about Reese’s time in the Air Force and his special operations. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Of course I love this book! Everything about it!!….
The tension and vulnerability of these characters just work for me. Add in some mystery, snark, family drama, and hot sex.. and, BAM! You’ve got a Nicole Edwards book.
A must read series!
Another great read from Nicole Edwards – she always leaves me looking forward to her next book. Thanks for sharing your amazing creativity.
HOLY SMOKES Did Nicole Edwards deliver with this one!! Wow!! I really wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, because it was THAT good. Mission: Without a Trace revolves around the first case of the group, now known as The Governor’s Task Force, involving a six-year old missing person’s case, and this missing person is not just anyone, she is the friend of the Governor’s daughter.
Mission: Without a Trace is an exciting and mysterious romantic suspense that you will not be able to put down once you start it. Nicole Edward’s storytelling skills keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout this one. Not only do you want to solve the mystery, but you also want to see just how Reese and Brantley’s relationship progresses. Let me just say, I love that Nicole Edwards was willing to go there with Reese and all of his indecision, nervousness, and confusion about his feelings for Brantley. And the way in which Brantley dealt with Reese’s feelings will only make you love Brantley Walker all the more. Brantley was extremely understanding, caring, and very patient with Reese while Reese came to terms with being in love with him. Honestly, the chemistry between these two is off the charts.
Nicole Edwards promised that there would be no cliffhangers even though the series continues to follow Brantley Walker and Reese Tavoularis and their developing relationship, and boy, oh boy, did she deliver. So, yes, despite being a continuing saga in Brantley and Reese’s blossoming relationship all mysteries are solved, and this one was a big one. Although Mission: Without a Trace is a complete story, it is best enjoyed by having read Mission: All In first, so that you can fully understand the development of the character, and see just how these guys and girl became known The Governor’s Task Force. Once again, with Mission: Without a Trace, Nicole Edwards has delivered yet another engrossing read, and I truly am hoping that there will be more stories in this series. Oh, and yes, there are plenty of appearance by some of our favorite characters from her other series.
This is the second book in this series about Brantley Walker, a recently discharged Navy Seal. He had come home after a career ending injury at loose ends and worked with his friend JJ, a computer hacker, and Reese, a friend and employee of the Walker family who had been in the Air Force, to find his cousin’s abducted niece and return her to her family. The result of these events was the formation of a new Governor’s task force to help find children and adults who appear to have been abducted, both new and cold cases. In this sequel, the task force starts to look into the disappearance of a teen girl who went missing from Coyote Ridge nine years earlier. The newly appointed task force works to locate her and prompts the abduction of another. The race to find these girls is the mystery to be solved. The author also followed the evolution of the relationship between Brantley and Reese, the challenges of connecting with someone and, for Reese, of having this relationship be observed by the outside world. I enjoyed the story and the emotional connection that is building between these two men. I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next for Brantley, Reese, JJ, and a new team member, Baz.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Nicole Edwards doesn’t disappoint. This second book in the series we see the continued growth of the relationship between Brantley and Reese. You also have some steamy scenes, suspense, and some shocking finds.
The Governor’s Task Force is on their first official case in this second book of the Brantley Walker: Off the Books Series and WOW do things get interesting! Not only do we have a cold case to solve but things are getting interesting between Brantley and Reese.
I devoured this book in a day, I was not putting it down for anything. I was so involved with everything going on, from the clues they were uncovering I was trying to figure out if I could guess who the bad guy was and what truly happened to Lauren almost a decade ago but the twist kept coming and the crazy was good at hiding in plain sight.
Brantley and Reese are also testing the waters of their new relationship, as they try to navigate the uncharted seas they are bound to make mistakes but lets hope they don’t capsize the boat and leave themselves without a life vest. The chemistry between Reese and Brantley is just as strong if not stronger in this book than in the first one, I am really enjoying watching them navigate their new relationship and their new careers together.
I would highly recommend this series be read in the order it has been released since it follows the relationship of Reese and Brantley in addition to their solving different cases. If you enjoy MM Romances, Gay for You romances, or Romantic Suspense I would recommend this book to you.
Happy Reading!!!
The author promised not to keep us waiting between these stories, and she delivered. Thank you, Nicole Edwards! I absolutely adored Mission: All In so was beyond excited to learn the next installment of the Brantley Walker: Off the Books series would be released a month later. Now, I don’t expect the author to keep up this pace. After all, she has other series and stories to tell. But with this series being a bit different than a lot of her others (following the same couple throughout) I’m glad she gave us two in quick succession. (Note: I can think of one a couple other times she wrote about the same love interests in a series of books with them being the main characters throughout. The Unhinged series, which were written under the name Timberlyn Scott, and the first two stories in the Office Intrigue series. All books I highly recommend.)
Early on in this story, Reese did something to really tick me off. Part of me understood where he was coming from, but it was a real jerk move and I honestly didn’t know how much I’d enjoy this book if that was the way Reese was going to act throughout. I love the man, but he has a lot to work through. Again, I also understand this on a certain level. And thank goodness Brantley, for the most part, understands Reese’s motivation, too. He doesn’t like it and he doesn’t sit back and take it when he feels slighted. But he does understand.
I’m still feeling the connection between Brantley and Reese and really like that they are slowly opening up more and more about their pasts. I have a feeling we’re going to find out things about Reese’s time in the military that will be shocking and unexpected. In the grand scheme of things, neither of them care that they don’t know all of the nitty-gritty details of each other’s military service. They understand each other on a level that the details aren’t needed.
The team is coming together, and this is their first official case. They, of course, need more bodies to do an effective job. I think that aspect of this continuing story is going to be a lot of fun. As it is, we meet Baz, a detective on the Austin police force. I instantly was a fan and cannot wait to see if the obvious chemistry between Baz and JJ goes anywhere.
There’s a lot of lead up to the action in this story, but the story is not slow. It just goes into hyper-drive once the action part kicks in. There’s action, suspense, heartache, and joy. Boom, boom, boom. One after the other. There’s also humor as the team starts to realize they need an actual official name…and some specific gear. So fun!
Despite the problems Brantley and Reese go through as they are solving their first official case, they are navigating to the next level in their relationship. I’m fully invested in watching it unfold.
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the author. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
Mission: Without a Trace is the second book in Nicole Edwards’ new series, Brantley Walker: Off the Books. This is definitely a book series that needs to be read in reading order to know who all the players are and what is going on. This is the continuing story of Reese Tavoularis and Brantley Walker’s new private and professional relationships. I like how Edwards, can carry a story on from one book to the next. Continuing one story line (Brantley and Reese’s relationship) while introducing a new story line to go along with it, their current case. The characters are right on point with each other and the story. I really can’t wait to see where their professional and private relationship goes from here!
Author Nicole Edwards newest book is based in Coyote Ridge and is part of the Off The Book series. I will tell you right away you need to start with book 1 in this series or you will miss out info that you need to know between the the main characters that make this book so good. Brantley Walker and Reece Travoulasis two are two of biggest ex-military men and they are working together now to find missing people. Throw in JJ and her computer wizardry and the newest addition “borrowed” policeman Baz. The first official cold case turns into quite something else and we see how much this team truly is a team in all ways. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and luckily our author is not making us wait to long between books.
Book 2 in the Off the Books series and is a continuation of Brantley and Reese’s story. They have so much to navigate in this story – their first case as the newly formed task force and their budding relationship. This story will have you hooked and on the edge of your seats from page 1. It had everything – romance, action, suspense and plenty of sexy times. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read what is next in this series.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This second book in the Brantley Walker: Off The Books Series is Mission: Without A Trace. Brantley and Reese are still working out their relationship while looking into the case of a girl gone missing ten years ago.
I’m loving this series, Reese and Brantley are two totally hot specimens with big hearts. The chemistry these two have is off the charts, add in the intrigue and mystery, along with genuine beautiful characters, and the added bonus of visits from characters of previous books makes this one fabulous read.
Mission: Without a Trace Bby Nicole Edwards is book two in her Brantley Walker: Off the Books series. This is not a bstand-alone. I recommend to read the books in order, or you’ll be lost. The previous book is Mission: All In and tells the beginning of Brantley and Reese’s story.
Mission: Without a Trace leads Brantley’s team to an old case, and to a complicated relationship – aka the one Brantley and Reese have, or rather would have if Reese wasn’t that insecure. I’m being honest here, Reese made it hard to like him in this installment – he wasn’t my favorite character. This one step forward and two steps back, hurting Brantley – my Brantley – in the process, no sire not ok with me. So my hope is , Reese wakes up and sees what’s in front of him, a wonderful future with the person who loves him deeply.
The story is a complex one, fast paced, full length without being boring for just a second. A great read, 5 stars.
Brantley and Reece relationship and story pick right up from book 1 they are working together with JJ on cases on Missing people….. and Reece is learning that it is ok to be in love with brantley they are so hot together ….. I am just loving this series so much…… I voluntarily read an arc and I recommend if you love a good series start with book 1 and trust me you will be addicted ….. I cant wait for book 3
I fall more in love with this series after every page. Nicole Edwards knows she can write some smexy love scenes! But in this series, in addition to the love story, I’m finding myself so pulled in to the Missing Persons cases. I do love the sexy romance, but the mystery part just adds to the intensity.
So, I read this in one day, it’s that good!
The team is taking on its second case and it’s another one close to home. I like the connection to the town and its residents, feels much more personal.
Brantley and Reese are in the beginning stages of their relationship, it’s not plain sailing but I think you have to expect that. Reese has got a lot to work through and it’s not an easy process. Brantley has the strength to carry him through it but Reese has to be ready to fully commit himself. I really loved their interactions. They felt very real and genuine. Brantley strength gives Reese the space he needs to work through his emotions. The underlying love and passion they have for each other unfolds beautifully and their intimate scenes are powerful.
JJ is a strong presence throughout the story, she’s a strong character and brings a lot to the story. Im excited see where her story goes and I’m rooting for her to get some happiness. Looking forward to more Baz.
Such a good book and I’m loving this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review

This is the second book in the Off the Books Series from Nicole Edwards. You need to read the first book to understand the full story of Reese and Brantley. Now they are going to be working on their first gold case as the members of the Governor’s task force and it is a case that happened fifteen years ago. They also do some serious work on themselves and if you didn’t fall for Reese in the first book they you are going to fall for him in this one. Brantley is his book and he is so attracted to him but has always been attracted to women and this really confuses him. But when he is near Brantley he knows that without a doubt he wants to be with him but he keeps freaking out and running. These two really go through it in this book right along with working the cold case of a girl that went missing fifteen years ago. Little do they know that they are stiring up a hornets nest when they are asking questions about the missing girl and this leads to another girl going missing. Between the suspense and the love interest this book will have you devouring it. I loved it and can’t wait to see what we get next in this series.
Mission: Without a Trace is book 2 in the Off the Books series by Nicole Edwards. Brantley Walker and the task force have their first cold case to work so we are given a front row seat to see how they will work as a team. And this author has this wonderful ability to write romantic suspense that keeps you guessing from page to page and we get to see that, or read it, as we follow the team and their investigation turning over every lead. Brantley, Reese, and JJ work well together and seem like a cohesive unit. But it seems like there is always room for more especially in Coyote Ridge.
And while the task force is working to solve the case of the moment, Brantley and Reese are forging ahead with their relationship. This book dives deeper into their feelings about each other and themselves and how they feel about the new relationship. There is angst and turmoil and love and some very sexy times together. But really the crux of these two is how their hearts feel about the other. I love to watch them grow and learn and ultimately make a decision on what they want. And of course Ms. Edwards leaves us little crumbs on what we might think happens next between these two. I can’t wait to see where the task force and this relationship go in the future.
