When trouble walks in, there’s no choice but to hold on tight for the ride. Two years before, Shaw Woodward watched the love of his life walk down the aisle to another man. Since then, life has kicked him in the balls and lifted him up several times. Just so happens he’s on the downward dip of that cycle right now. After a difficult mission in the Ranger Ops unit, he’s struggled to keep his focus, … struggled to keep his focus, and his captain is forcing him to seek help. He just never expected to walk into the shrink’s office to find the woman he loved seated behind the desk in sexy secretary glasses with her blonde hair in a confining bun he wants to unravel.
Atalee Franklin has experienced a lot of highs and lows lately—a marriage and a divorce to name a couple. As a psychologist, she’s passionate about helping people through their most difficult moments, but then in walks Shaw, the gorgeous, muscled friend of her ex-husband, and also some of the reason her marriage failed.
With another shot at a relationship in his sights, can Shaw actually get his head clear enough to move forward? Leaving the Ranger Ops isn’t even a possibility—the only way they’ll strip him from the unit is by putting him in the ground. Atalee only wants Shaw to find peace while doing something he loves, though her worries for him are real. Losing him a second time isn’t even an option…

Another great read from Em Petrova, with her usual flair for romance and sizzling chemistry as well as attention to character development and terrific plot lines.
Bout Time! Good things come to those who wait. And think. And wait! Shaw took his shot and misfired. Then karma or fate gives him a second chance. It takes courage to re-enter battle after being wounded. And this has nothing to do with Ranger Ops duties. Atalee made a mistake. She didn’t follow her gut. Could she learn something from the Rangers? On her wedding day, Shaw declared his undying love for her. Problem was, she was about to marry his fellow Ranger, friend. Now, he they reunite. Atalee as therapist, Shaw as her patient. Do they have the wisdom/courage to open that unlocked door? Excellent story. I feel excited to read the rest of the series. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
A quick well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Another mission with results that keep you turning the pages to find out how it all ends. This one about the relationship between Shaw and Atalee and what both go through. This is book two in the series and a standalone read but I cannot wait until the next one so I can read about this team of men.
This exceptional 2nd book in the ‘Ranger Ops’ series will draw you in from the first page and hold you captivated until the end! It is well written, emotionally deep, fast pace, funny, witty, moves at a brisk pace, and exciting. The characters are loveable and complex; the chemistry between them is blazing hot. I enjoyed watching their story unfold and getting their second chance with each other. This is a very interesting and engaging read that I strongly recommend reading.

I absolutely loved this new “Ranger Ops” story!!! This is Shaw and Atalee’s story! It is very hot and steamy with action, a little angst and so much more. Love the twists and turns. This story starts off strong and does not let up until the very end. I absolutely love the characters and cheer them on to finally get their happy ever after. I cannot wait until the next “Ranger Ops” story!!!
Shaw is on the Ranger OP team now. He is having issues dealing with an op in Mexico.
Shaw tried to stop Atalee from marrying his friend. That didn’t end well as she kicked him out and told she never wanted to see him again. She is now divorced and works with vets.
Shaw and Atalee spend time together. Slowly he realizes she has helped him work through his issues. She worries about him mentally being able to do his job. Will they be able to work through all their fears?
Who knew that the Texas Rangers had a Special Ops division? Is that even a real thing? Aren’t the Texas Rangers already an Elite division?
So many questions, I know!
Anyway about “Within Range” … I liked it.
It has a strong cast of characters and as this series is just getting started we have had a more in depth look at two of them. This story touches on PTSD and the struggle that so many of our valaint men and women face.
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY! I’m so thankful to live in a country that has so much freedom, but freedom isn’t free, is it?
No. It comes at a heavy price which too many people take for granted.
I want to say THANK YOU to Em for not only writing a great romance, but for the message she imparts as well…Be thankful to those who do and have served to protect our way of life, and this great country of ours.
It seems like another series of Em’s is going to crossover into Ranger Ops … Knight Ops. I very much enjoy the Kight Ops series as well. A specialized group of Bayou brothers who form a clandestine unit to help safeguard our country.
I’m looking forward to the next installment of Ranger Ops to see where Em takes us on her adventures with these Special Ops heroes and the women that love them. Until next time … Happy Reading 🙂

This was a story that I did not want to put down. Exciting action with the RangerOps, and a unrequited love with a second chance. My husband is a Vet, and i loved that the story gave some focus on the hero’s that many forget. I just cant seem to put into words how much I enjoyed this book, from the characters to the emotion and to finding ways to cope after military engagements. An amazing writing skill that weaves so much into one book.

If you have read anything from the Knight Ops series, this is some intriguing background with some familiar names and faces. Put it on your must read list if you have yet to read Knight Ops.
If you have yet to meet any of these men who work a really challenging set of jobs, and the women and men around them, hang on for a hot and steamy ride with some sexy cowboys and caregivers.
Hot series for fans of military action / romance. Powerful KU read!
I received an advance copy of this book from Booksprout.
I have either bought from Kindle or borrowed from KU most of the books in these series. Totally addictive!
This is sweet, romantic, steamy and heartbreaking. Shaw is intense, amusing, tough and sweet. Atalee is stubborn, caring and protective. After trying to get the woman he loves, Atalee, to run away from her wedding to his friend to go with him, and her turning him down, he transfers to a different part of the state, then gets asked to join Ranger Ops. 2 years later he’s in need of a shrink, and accidentally ends up with her. Now divorced, Atalee can’t believe that she now has a chance to be with Shaw. Shaw’s a little broken, but she’s willing to do whatever she has to to make him better. While out on an op we get a quick visit from a couple of Knights, which makes a great book even better. This series is more intense than the Knight Ops series, but still has it’s amusement.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Shaw lost his first love to another man who was his friend. Now Atalee crosses his pathway again a free woman ,and he is determined not to let her go again. Bring in danger and missions with the Ranger Ops and their lives get more chaotic. Second in the Ranger Ops series and a good addition.

Book two in the Ranger Ops series and I want to read the next book. This is a second chance story for Shaw Woodward a member of the Ranger Ops unit and Atalee Franklin. Two years ago she married Johnnie but on the day of her wedding Shaw finally told her he loved her. Atalee is now divorced and working as a psychologist. Shaw has been sent to her to get help for his PTSD neither one of them realize who the other is as Shaw used an different name for the appointment. Their story kept me turning pages. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What a great addition to this series. This book is part of a series and can be read as a stand alone. This book features Shaw and Atalee. We get to see the ups and downs of their relationship and their HEA. Written as a 3rd person, multi pov. This book is steamy! Entertaining! Amazing!
We get to see characters from the previous book, but they do not take over the book. Strong story line, awesome characters, fantastic descriptions to detail, and engaging dialogue. All in all, a great read.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes
Sassy Beta Reading and Review

I enjoyed visiting with the guys from Ranger Ops, this is the second story in the Ranger Ops series. You don’t have to read the first story, At Close Range, to be able to understand and enjoy this story, but it is good to remember all the guys in the group and what they have been going through. The characters in this story, and series, are like reading about the people you already know. Very good story line. I like when the issues of Veterans issues and problems are addressed. We forget about the guys who have fought for our freedoms.
In this story, Shaw had to watch the woman he loves walk down the isle to another man. He did what he had to do and told her how he felt before she walked down the isle, but she didn’t want to hear what he had to say. She told him to go away and she never wanted to see him again. He transferred away so he wouldn’t have to watch her with his old best friend. He then was recruited to Ranger Ops. He has seen and done some things that he can’t get out of his head and it is affecting his job. He has to see a shrink to get it right before something happens and someone else gets hurt. When he walks in to his new shrink, he didn’t expect to find his love there.
Atalee married her guy. Then as soon as the honeymoon was over, he lost interest in her. She doesn’t know if it was him or if it was because of the things Shaw said before they got married. Did she jinx it for herself or what? Now that the divorce is settled, she can get on with her career as a psychologist to help Vets with their problems. When she sees Shaw walk into her office, she is thrown. When she sees the scars on his body, she wonders what he has been through in the missing years. Can she deal with him leaving at any time without knowing if he will come back alive?

Atalee and Shaw started long ago. Now they are getting there first chance. Very good story. I loved it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Oh, this was fun.
Love the cover the dude is something else!! Now for the story that is good too. Shaw and Atalee history is a bit rocky, to say the least. Now they are in a patient/therapist relationships oh this was fun. There is nothing simple about this second chance romance and I could not be more pleased to have had a chance to read it. I am looking forward to additional books and I hope you take a chance on this one. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it
The last time Shaw saw Atalee was on her wedding day, the day she married another man.
In the two years since then both have suffered, Atalee from divorce, Shaw from traumatic events whilst serving in Ranger Ops.
As a therapist, can Atalee help Shaw?
And is this a second chance for them as a couple?
The story line has tender moments, lots of action, some steam, but most of all love.
The book is well paced, and the characters are well rounded, and believable.
This is a great continuation of this new series.
Oh, I loved Shaw and Atalee. Years ago, Shaw confessed his love to her at her wedding to his then-friend. She refused him and he hadn’t seen her since. After the events of book 1, he’s left with some PTSD and finally relents and sets an appointment to see a therapist. That happens to be Atalee. His love for her can’t be contained anymore and she realizes he’s the one she should have been with. Now they try for real this time while dealing with issues and her fear of losing him because of his job. This had some action, friendship, and so many sexy times. But it also touches upon real issues with vets now a days and it was written beautifully without dragging it out. I also love that we get to see our past characters and get glimpses into their lives and continue to develop the others’. I can’t wait to see how Linc is doing and for his story.

Second chances..
This story is about second chances. Not just a second chance with the person you love but also a second chance for yourself. This is something both Shaw and Atalee need. With this book, Ms. Petrova has given us a wonderfully written and very emotional story.

Shaw is part of an off the grid government team. He was recruited from the Texas Rangers to Ranger Ops which is like Knight Ops in Louisiana. They go on specialty missions where there is no accountability of their existence. Shaw approaches Attlee before her wedding to his ex-friend to tell her he loves her and not to get married. She said no and was divorcing in two years. She has pursued her dream of being a psychologist and gets a job with the VA. Shaw had a bad experience on his last mission and needs to straighten his head out and get some perspective. So guess who turns out to be his therapist. They start dating and he is still deploying on these hush hush missions. Full of action and excitement. Well written and great read and continuation of the Ops teams.
