When trouble walks in, there’s no choice but to hold on tight for the ride. Two years before, Shaw Woodward watched the love of his life walk down the aisle to another man. Since then, life has kicked him in the balls and lifted him up several times. Just so happens he’s on the downward dip of that cycle right now. After a difficult mission in the Ranger Ops unit, he’s struggled to keep his focus, … struggled to keep his focus, and his captain is forcing him to seek help. He just never expected to walk into the shrink’s office to find the woman he loved seated behind the desk in sexy secretary glasses with her blonde hair in a confining bun he wants to unravel.
Atalee Franklin has experienced a lot of highs and lows lately—a marriage and a divorce to name a couple. As a psychologist, she’s passionate about helping people through their most difficult moments, but then in walks Shaw, the gorgeous, muscled friend of her ex-husband, and also some of the reason her marriage failed.
With another shot at a relationship in his sights, can Shaw actually get his head clear enough to move forward? Leaving the Ranger Ops isn’t even a possibility—the only way they’ll strip him from the unit is by putting him in the ground. Atalee only wants Shaw to find peace while doing something he loves, though her worries for him are real. Losing him a second time isn’t even an option…

An engaging second chance romance.
Shaw has spent the last two years trying to get over falling in love with his best friends’ fiancée, Atalee. He tried telling her that he was in love with her but she didn’t handle his timing well. Literally right before she was supposed to walk down the aisle to be married. So, he did the only thing he could do… he got a transfer for his job and moved away from them. Too bad fate had something more planned for them.
This book had my emotions all over the place for both Shaw and Atalee. It does deal with PTSD, so be fair warned it that can be a trigger for you. But it’s dealt with in such an amazing manner that it helps both of them heal.
This is the second book in the Ranger Ops series and it is connected to the Knight Ops series. Although it can be read as a standalone, it does read better in the order it was written.

This is the second book in the Ranger Ops series. Shaw professed his love to Atalee but, it was before she walked down the aisle to marry his friend. Years later he is suffering from PTSD and has to go to a therapist. Imagine his surprise when he finds out that his therapist is Atalee. I can’t wait to read what happens next in this wonderful series.

This story touched on PTSD and some action around military ops, but it was more about the romance between the two main characters. I enjoyed their journey of a second chance at love. The story involved other characters and I’m looking forward to seeing how one of them recovers and moves on after being gravely injured. Great fast paced story with plenty of steamy scenes and danger.
Shaw and Atalee have history and not the good kind.
In the beginning when Shaw approaches Atalee on her wedding day and drops a major bomb on her, I couldn’t believe it. Who does that??!!! I understood Shaw’s reasons for telling her but he had to wait until moments before she says I do.
Atalee was a woman who was trying to move on from a divorce and get her life back together. She has a job that she loves and is very passionate about it. She has a great relationship with her mother. However one day a patient shows up that she wasn’t expecting and she has to put all her past feelings for him aside because this is a man who needs professional help.
Shaw has been asked to do many things but one thing he had to do in order to save his life and that of his teammates haunts him and put further missions in jeopardy. Knowing that he needs help, he takes the first step, not knowing it will put him in the path of a past love.
Watching these two navigate a new relationship and hitting a grey area of patient/therapist relationships was fun to read. Atalee wanted him to go and see someone else once a romantic relationship started but Shaw was a private man and only talked when he wanted/where he wanted.
I highly recommend this book.
Shaw is amazing.
Shaw is a Texas Ranger, now Ranger Ops. Getting shot at and shot is just all part of the job he loves. It defines him. But it’s taking its toll and he’s mandated to see a therapist. Atalee.
Shaw laid it all out for Atalee two years ago. Just as she was supposed to walk down the aisle with his buddy. He’d waited way too long.
Now, two years later, she’s newly divorced and Shaw was right. But now he’s her patient and she wants to help him.
Shaw is all man, a hero and protector and still is all in for Atalee.
Highly recommend.

“Within Range” has many great things in the telling of Shaw and Atalees story, that once started, I read it straight through. An engaging story from page one, there is suspense, romance, steamy scenes, heartbreak, and some PTSD, to name a few. With some of the other Rangers involved in the story, there is a feeling of camaraderie and family. Shaw and Atalee’s story flows without effort, making it a page turner for me. As this is my first read by Em Petrova, I found a new author, and look forward to reading more of her work. I patiently wait for the next book in the ‘Ranger Ops’ series. **Booksprout gifted me a copy of “Within Range” and I voluntarily leave my honest opinion based on my reading** 4.5 Stars!
Second chance to get it right
These Ranger Ops guys are more than words can describe. Shaw loved Atalee but she married another man, the wrong man, because he didn’t tell her until it was too late. Now two years later, newly divorced Atalee is face to face with the man she couldn’t stop thinking about, Shaw. They have a second chance to find their happiness. Great story. Military men with hero tendencies just make me melt.
I tend to always enjoy story from Petrova and this one just added to the list. You will fall in love with Shaw and Atalee. we will have love and laughs and some suspense, but who does not love military men..Now we wait for the next one.

I loved the book and the series.
Shaw had been in love with Atalee for years, he told her he loved her right before her wedding.
She married his friend. Now he is back from mission and suffers from PTSD.
He ends with Atalee as his therapist. Seeing her again bring back feelings he buried for long time.
He feels this might be his second chance
Atalee hasn’t been able to get Shaw out of her mind. Now divorced and not in happy place she got shock as Shaw is walking to her office. He is sitting across from her. She is a therapist and her words could weight heavily on his future .
Fate has stepped in.

Best book EVER BY EM PETROVA!! Loved and enjoyed every page!
Ever since being forced to kill a teenager during a mission Shaw has been wracked with guilt and nightmares. When he seeks help at a VA hospital he is shocked to find Atalee, the woman Shaw declared his love to years ago on her wedding day to his friend. Newly divorced Atalee has often thought about Shaw and is just as surprised to see him. Atalee is a strong independent woman and learns about being with someone in a dangerous and secretive job. I am so sorry I missed the first book in this series. I loved Knight Ops and so far Ranger Ops looks to be just as good. Meeting Shaw was like a dream. To me, he is the perfect man, even with his flaws. I liked Atalee and understand her decisions. This is exciting, tense, funny and smoking hot. I can’t wait for the next book. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I received a copy of this through Booksprout and I chose to review it. I am a fan of Em Petrova, I know she will write a fantastic story. This one is well written and characters are fantastic. This is book two in this series and I am loving the series. I do encourage everyone to get this book and to read the first book.
Shaw is a member of the Ranger Ops and has some PTSD issues. He watched the woman he loved marry his friend Johnny. He is at the VA for a visit to a therapist that turns out to be the very woman he can’t get over. Atalee is a therapist at the VA with a marriage and divorce behind her. She wants to help people. A shock is in store when Shaw turns out to be her patient. Will the couple be able to give things a chance this time? A good read with real life issues.

I love Em Petrova’s military men series and thoroughly enjoyed the Knight Op series which is mentioned in this series This new series is a carry on from that the men of Ranger Op are not military they are all Texas Rangers but they have also been formed into a unit to combat terrorism on the continental USA
This is Shaw and Atalee’s story He declared his love for her the day she was meant to walk down the aisle to marry his best friend and she wasn’t impressed with him at all. So he took himself away from her environment and got himself a new posting with the Texas Rangers now he is part of a elite group but the last mission as caused him to need counselling. Imagine his horror when he turns up for his first session and discovers she is his counsellor. She realises he was correct and Johnny wasn’t the man for her and now divorced she is trying to build herself a new life. Will they be able to get over their past together Will they have a future together and what will happen when danger stalks them You will have to read to see Now hanging out waiting for the next book in this wonderful series
This is a great second chance at love full of chemistry and forgiveness to move forward. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly.

Another great book from Em, this one is the second in a special ops series. The story of Attlee and Shaw. Past friends, Atlee and Shaw meet again under professional circumstances when Shaw seeks help with battle emotional issues. Atlee , newly divorced and starting her new career is surprised when Shaw show up as new patient. Instant chemistry and is only gets hotter from there!
This story is full of battle excitement, comeradery among the special ops men, love and passion with Atlee and Shaw. A great series and a great story.

I am a sucker for second chance reads and this one didn’t disappoint, Shaw loved Atalee from afar and chose the worst moment to tell her he loved her then left after she rejected him. Now years later fate steps in and pushes them together again so they can choose to ignore the past and avoid each other or work out what they really feel for each other. There is plenty of laughs especially with Atalee’s Mum and Shaw’s Dad along with steamy scenes between Atalee and Shaw but lets not forget apprehension of whether they will end up together or if they are just not meant to be.
