5 beautiful, dark and intense Stars!
Holy crap! This will grab you from the very first page and won’t let you go even when it ends.
I was expecting dark. I was expecting intense. I was expecting evil. What I wasn’t expecting was beauty!!!!!
Trisha’s words inject beauty and light into an utterly dark world!!! I found myself constantly re-reading passages in order to savor the beauty of her words.
A favorite excerpt from the mind of the UNSUB:
“Obsession. It starts with a spark. A flicker. At the strike of a match. Lying dormant in most of us, obsession feasts on the fumes, breathes in the smoky scent, curling around and in on itself. Building.
We pet it, nurse it into existence It is ours. All ours. A coveted perfection. And when it refuses to be ignored, it rages. It roars to life. A blazing inferno. Consuming.”
*Sigh*
Thank you, Trisha, for your gorgeous words. They will be treasured.
This is a series and does end on cliffhangers, this series has everything I live in a book…a great twisted plot full of suspense, hot steamy scenes and unpredictable twists. A terrific read.
Visions with red is a twisted, dark, steamy book. The first half of the book I was like stop talking all the FBI stuff and get to the good details. She describes the murders/crime scenes in great detail. Makes them so easy to imagine. The main character Sadi has a dark past that starts out in the prolog. Let’s just say I wish that chapter was longer and the whole book was about that. But the further read you learn she has a role as a profiler and she is hunting the UNSUB serial killer. Who is clearly obsessed with her. This book made think it was boring and I won’t read the second one to I need to read the next book now because it is ends with a cliffhanger. Colton is also sexy and we read from his point of view. Now sure why his view was important but I am hoping the next book with explain more on him. The BDSM scenes are very well written like she has knowledge on the world. They had my heart racing, blood pumping, flesh burning excited.
The only reason this book has for stars is because it was so boring the first half of the book (except for the sex scenes) definitely will be reading the next book.
This book ends with a cliffhanger! I immediately moved on to book 2.. I had to know how it ended! I loved the story and the characters, and before you know it the story is over and you are on book 2… great writing!
Wow, I highly recommend this thriller, listening to the killer on audiobook is creepy. I can’t wait till more secrets are revealed.
I must say I have enjoyed everything I’ve read this far by Trisha but this one is on a whole different level.
This is a dark read so if you can’t handle dark and disturbing this book is not for you.
Sadie had the unthinkable happen to her when she was younger and now it looks like her worst nightmare may become her reality yet again.
The storyline is very well written as well as the characters. I loved how Trisha wrote this in the POV of the three main characters. This book will leave you begging for more.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a little dark, it was sexy and suspenseful! I’ve been binge watching Criminal Minds lately, and this book is like a really sexy version of that show! Lol
Sadie is so damaged and broken by her past, and you just want to see her overcome it and be happy! I can’t wait to read the next book!
Suspenseful and captivating.
The ending made me want to dive right into the second book. It was suspenseful and had me on the edge of my seat for at least half of the story. Though the book didn’t grab me right from the start and I was always made aware of it being fictional due to the killer’s POV. Other than that, I liked Sadie’s character as well as Colton’s and Quinn’s.
I’m still edgy because I don’t know who the killer is and I keep guessing and pointing my finger. It’s addictive and I already put all the other connecting books of this series on my tbr pile.
The Story:
Sadie Bonds led two lives. By day she worked as a profiler to catch killers and by night she sought out a place where she could let her inner demons roam.
When she met Colton, she was torn between the allurement and the danger of what it would mean to give in to her inner desire. He wanted to free her and make her face her demons. But was she able to accept his help? Could she ever break the chains of fear?!
Thoughts:
I don’t know why I expected this book to be a dark read, it wasn’t, or rather it didn’t feel that way, though it had some darkish elements and very hot moments. Maybe I’m just used to darker books. Anyway, it wasn’t what I anticipated but it was a great read and a suspenseful crime story. It mostly followed Sadie, how she was constantly on edge because of her demons that held her captive for years, and the investigation of the horrifying deaths in her town.
Sadie’s past still haunted her and made her seem a little paranoid at times. I liked this though because it gave the story even more edge.
Colton is still a mystery to me because there’s something about him which I can’t pinpoint. He has a secret past of his own that hasn’t been revealed yet and I can’t wait to find out more. He’s a controlled man and I loved his calmness and how he slowly seduced Sadie with his words and deliberate actions.
Detective Quinn was rather unimposing at first but I came to like him more and more.
I liked this book a lot but somehow I couldn’t fully fall in love, though I was very much captured at the end. It was an alluring story nonetheless and I highly recommend giving it a try.
There were definite things of interest in this book. I like the criminal minds behavioral analysis idea, and the serial killer who is intriguing and difficult to identify without pursuing the entire series. But for me the psychological trauma and impact weren’t addressed in a way I’d like to make it believable, however as a novel I can not expect authors to be versed in psychology so for what a thrilling twisted mystery and romance it is very well done.
just could not get into this book. read the prologue and 1/2 of first chapter and done. it’s not a bad story, but I could already see the plot and it is slow movind.
I began to relate to the story’s Sadie – her mission and training to do the right thing but weighted down with her past experience. The dual story telling was spell binding; however, I put my bet on Sadie to deliver the goods – too bad the book was cut up into three parts for this one story line.
Just discovered this author. She is fantastic! Very engaging writing – I wanted to know what happened next. Nicely written flawed characters with great heart. I will read her other work.
Read all three books. Could not put them down. Unpredictable and always on edge. Great story!
This series contains a lot of plot twists, so you must read the entire series. Just enough Dark erotica to please those fans.
Loved this book
Brilliant comes to mind after reading this first in a new series from Trisha Wolfe. She takes us not only into the suspense world with a serial killer but also deep into the BDSM world where a criminal profiler still haunted by her own past with a serial killer meets a mysterious man who craves her and uses his Japanese bondage skills in shibari to give her the release she craves from the nightmares from her past.
Sadie Bonds was abducted by a sadistic killer when she was a teenager. She managed to survive her time with him but not without it leaving not only an outer scar but also with a fascination with blood and a craving for things she’s tries not to think about. She went on to work in the police force and had worked herself up to becoming a profiler with the FBI but instead took a demotion and now works for the Arlington County Police department as their criminal profiler. Most of the men don’t respect her job including her partner Quinn. But when women start turning up dead with plenty of blood surrounding the crime scenes Quinn’s animosity changes when he knows that if they are going to catch this killer that Sadie and her gift of being able to read what story the blood from the victims tells her will be their best bet.
Sadie is such a fascinating character. Her time in captivity with a killer certainly messed with her mind but instead of letting it make her insane she has taken her fascination with blood and used it help find other killers. What she doesn’t realize at the start of this case is it is personal and this killer knows things about her past that no one should.
In the middle of the investigation we are shown Sadie frequents a BDSM club as a voyeur to try and sate the demons in her mind that take over after seeing the horrific things of the murders. It is here she meets the club owner’s brother Colton Reed who is a master at rope bondage – which is one of her triggers from her time with her own abductor. We get Colton’s POV throughout the book and he is one hot sexy Dom but by the end of this book he is still a man of mystery. We haven’t gotten the full story on him yet and I can’t want to see what demons are in his past.
This book does end on a cliffhanger. Normally that would drive me nuts but we were given plenty of story to stew on until the next book. I was fascinated with all the threads of different genres the author weaved throughout this book. Yes, it a romantic suspense at heart but it also soo much more than that and I was entranced from beginning to end.
An amazing read – really well written. The characters were likeable (and believable) and the BDSM scenes were very steamy! The story line was really good, I found this an absolute page turner and couldn’t read it quickly enough. This was much more than a load of sex/BDSM encounters linked together by a weak plot.
