It was so nice to catch up with Jesse and Ava years into their marriage, but tragic when an accident threatens to take it all away from them. Ava’s lost her memory and without her, Jesse struggles. He needs to make his wife remember.
Such a great story and a real tear jerker at times.
As the fourth in the series it was a fabulous way to possibly end the series. I have loved almost all of the characters in series as I met them. I love her writing, how she weaves the story lines and makes you want to be part of the group. Great writer and I hope to read more of her books.
Jesse and Ava have finally returned and all I can say is Long Live The Lord! Is it any surprise that Wards are still blissfully happy after all these years. Their love story was one for the ages and even now they have grow even more in love with one other with each passing moment. Jesse loves his life with his maddeningly stunning wife and perfect babies. Never could he have imagined before Ava stepped into his life this level of bliss. Ava’s still the ball of sass he fell head over heels for and no matter how much he gripes he wouldn’t change a thing about his stubbornly gorgeously wife. Fate however plays a cruel joke when tragedy strikes and while sparing Ava it takes away all her recollection of her life with her Lord. In the blink of an eye it’s like she’s lost 16 years and Jesse is at a whits end as to how to trample this. But if there is one thing Jesse Ward isn’t it’s a quiter. His persistence once won him Ava’s heart, so he’ll just have to do it again.
As I sit here I am finding it extremely hard for any words to flow. Writing this review is hard, and I mean really hard, because I am truly at a complete loss to articulate into words how much love I have for this novel.
I am a HUGE fan of the This Man Series. It’s a series that I read some time ago, and it simply took my breath away. So when I found out that we were getting more of Jesse and Ava I was ecstatic but also a little apprehensive. And why?
Because for me the series ended perfectly, Jesse and Ava’s story was pure perfection and I had no idea where JEM would take us.
So as I sit here contemplating my own words of offering, I must say I have been completely blown away. With This Man for me was nothing short of sheer perfection. From beginning to end I was transfixed, held hostage with every turn of a page.
We get to see our beautiful power couple, Jesse and Ava through Jesse’s eyes. Told from Jesse’s POV, it definitely gave me a different perspective on their relationship. It was seeing their love story at a complete different angle. And I soaked up every minute of it.
But the curve ball here is the loss of Ava’s memory. After an accident and a head trauma, Ava is left with a gaping hole in her memory. Sixteen years has been wiped from her mind. In Ava’s eyes, she’s still in her twenties, unmarried with no children. She’s young and carefree.
Jesse is naturally devastated, left completely broken. The love of his whole existence has no memory of him, has no memory of their children. She isn’t his Ava, but she is.
All Jesse knows is he will move heaven and earth to help Ava remember, even if that means starting from the beginning.
This is Jesse and Ava’s story.
I won’t say much more other than With This Man is the complete package. A highly emotional, raw and at times confronting read that I know you won’t be able to put down.
The emotional pull was all consuming often finding myself wiping away the tears. I could literally feel the ache in Jesse’s chest. I could literally feel the hurt and frustration felt by Ava. It literally took my breath away.
Such a powerful novel.
Jesse and Ava you will stay with me always. Your story is one of pure uniqueness.
5 stars
I loved the this man books and was sad when it was over, so it was nice to continue the story.
Absolutely amazing
Jodi did an excellent job with this book. Seeing from Jesse POV made him realize what could have been done in regards to Ava and their children..
Finally I am Team Lord of the Manor!
I’ve had such a struggle to fall completely at Jesse Wards feet until this book. With This Man gives more insight into Jesse’s head and heart.
Jesse Ward is shattered by the events in this book. I’m not sure if it’s his break that shows me he’s more human than robot or his fight to keep his life. But Jesse Ward finally has my vote!
This book will twist you and hurt you. It will make your heart squeeze and your lungs seize. I was balling in a particularly “bloody” scene. No matter what you felt for Mr. Ward at the beginning of this book, you can’t help but be firmly entrenched on Central Jesse Cloud Nine!
ALL. THE. STARS. IN. THE. WORLD!!!!
With This Man was EVERYTHING! I’ve missed Jesse Ward so much. He’s the one book boyfriend I could never forget. His possessiveness, controlling, trampling ways is all from the deports depths of the love he has for Ava and their children. His vulnerability has always been at an all time high when it comes to the woman his heart beats for and something I absolutely adore.
There love is SO epic and with the tragedy that befalls them, fans get to revisit some of the most epic, memorable moments of their lives as Jesse tries to spark Ava’s memory of him and their family. And to see how true their love is, that she could fall in love with him again, so easily even with his overbearing ways… they are ultimate soulmates.
With every emotion in existence, this book had me engrossed in all the feels. I laughed, I cried, I cringed and I gasped. My heart soared and ached with everything Jesse went through to bring back the love of his life and keep his family whole.
I just wish I could forget it all, just so I could start from the beginning and experience all four books again as if it were the first time. Jesse Ward will ALWAYS hold a place in my heart!
Jodi did it again!!!!!!!! She did justice to Jesse’s and Ava’s beautiful love story.
While reading With This Man, I laughed with Jesse and I cried as well. Once you start reading this book, you won’t be able to put it down until the end.
I’ve read the series several times and felt the same emotions each and every time!!!!!!!!!! Thank You Jodi Ellen Malpas!!!!!!!
Having read this man trilogy and loved all of them, With this man continued love that Jesse and Ava had, it was everything a book could be funny , entertaining atear jerker such a roller coaster, well done Jodi Ellen Malpas
With This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas is the fourth book, and a standalone, in the This Man series. Get ready for the countdown, twelve years later…
Told in dual POV this book is an in-depth view into Jesse and Ava’s life twelve years on from where we left them last. Nothing has changed, only gotten better. More loving, more emotion, more love, more peanut butter. The twins are twelve and rambunctious and awesome. They deal with their parents “gross” displays of affection as best they can (LOL) and are great kids.
The book is detailed and I’m going to leave my review vague so as not to spoil anything but as you know from the blurb, there is an accident and Ava loses the last 16 years of her memories. Jesse, the kids, everything. These two falling in love again – working through all the massive issues a traumatic injury and event like this causes is detailed and emotional. Not a quick read but an absolutely fabulous one. I switched between audio and ebook on this one and the narrators are amazing too. Loved it! Enjoy!
5 Trample Stars……End of!!!!
Another Jesse and Ava book…… HELL YES!!! Oh how I’ve missed The Lord. This book was definitely a heartbreaking, breathtaking, beautiful story about patience, fear, hope, faith and most of all love. Love for the one person who breathes life into you, loves you unconditionally and completes you in every way possible but can’t remember you or the memories you’ve made together. Be prepared for one crazy emotional ride with cameos of our favorites and those we wanted to personally trample ourselves in the first the books. Twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat…. good luck trying to put this book down!!!
This was my favorite of the This Man series. It takes place 12 years after TMC, when Jesse and Ava have settled into their life together. Life with 11yo twins. Twins who look like their parents and have many of the same attributes (even the love of PB by the dollop).
This series took my heart and humor on quite an emotional journey. In this book I got to relive much of it. This book was everything a maturing Jesse and Ava could be. Everything!
A good portion of the book I spent with a broken heart, hopeful and hurting for Ava, Jesse and the kids. It seemed one step forward, and two back. I did not envy them their hurt and loss. But reliving the good, though in bits and pieces, made me happy.
I loved spending time with mature Kate and Sam, although they will never change. They may grow as a couple and as parents, but their free-spirit and healthy sexuality will never change.
Drew? I read his story and was so happy for him as he found the other half of his heart and found his future in Taya and Georgia and…
John is always a wonderful friend, there for Jesse and Ava in the tumultuous times in their relationship, in the chaos of Jesse’s life before Ava, and in the traumas of Jesse’s past that plagues them in their relationship. Sarah, Coral, Lauren, etc. he’s stood in the background and sorted things out for them, shored them up when needed, gave Jesse a swift kick in the arse more than a few times (my favorite being when Ava went into labor), ran Jesse’s errands of driving Ava around when he was in his craziest of moments, and being their friend. Most importantly being their friend. I love all their friends, or should I say family, but John is my favorite with his steady personality, loving words for Jesse and support for Ava (aka girl).
My heart broke numerous times in WTM, but ultimately, i found myself melting into a puddle by the end. And I loved every moment of Jesse and Ava’s love/life story.
Regardless of all the trials, tribulations, that Jesse and Ava have faced their love is never-ending. This latest trial maybe their most difficult to overcome. Ava loses 16 years of memory and does not know her husband or children. It’s up to Jesse to rekindle their love and get her to remember and if that’s not possible then make all new memories. It’s touch and go for a while but when an old nemisis returns and threatens Ava, Maddie and Jacob, Jesse steps into the breach and is almost taken from them. As it is, a longtime stabilizing force in Jesse’s life is gone but a new addition to the Ward family makes up for the loss. Those who surround Jesse and Ava are increasing their families too. There is joy and love in all of their lives. Jesse and Ava get the much-deserved happily ever after and acknowledge that happiness surrounded by their family.
