A very Adorable read. Captain Jack Dryden & Daphne an Earl’s are great at Deception.
Their Journey to finding the villain they find themselves very attracted to one another.
Some parts of the Story was very slow paced as other parts were to speedy, it didn’t take away from the entire Book.
Daphne is a lovely character that is completely at odds with the normal heroine because she is not wildly gorgeous but has excellent character and is very smart. She makes some mistakes but all in all she is brave and honest and real. Captain Jack Dryden is very dashing and yet humble. I love that he is not shy about revealing his feelings for …
Captain Jack Dryden was tasked by the regent to act as a spy and find out who was trying to kill him. He arranged for intelligent, and well-connected Daphne Chalmers, considered a spinster at 24, to make introductions and guide him to move in a society in which he was unfamiliar. Although bespeckled Daphne was not considered attractive or …
Entertaining and great action It is a great thing that the lady is as smart as the man. My kind of book!
I liked the character’s in this book they where very entertaining !!!
A fun “treat” book.
This is a story made for the screen! It would be a marvelous movie appealing to both men and women. The esteemed spy hired by the regent to be and covertly introduced to society engaged to a renowned but spinster socialite. Something for everyone!
A favorite and I read a great deal!
Loved the characters
I didn’t think it was very realistic, but it was entertaining enough to read the entire book.
A Regency romance with a twist, someone is trying to kill Prince George of Wales and a talented spy has been commissioned to find the perpetrator. Because the spy is not of the ton but needs to fit in, Lady Daphne Chalmers, has been asked to assist him. So a fictional engagement begins between the handsome Captain Jack Dryden and the bluestocking …
Enjoyable Fluff 3.5*
This did have some laugh out loud moments, particularly at the beginning of the story. We have a strait-laced but exceedingly handsome hero spy and an on the shelf but extremely well-placed in the ton, Earl’s daughter. Together they attempt to find out who is behind the attempt to assassinate the Prince Regent, whilst falling …
The first book in a series, it pairs a lady with Wellington’s best spy as they work together to discover who is behind an assassination attempt on a royal’s life. She teaches the ways of the ton and provides access while he teaches spycraft and challenges her view of herself.
While stories of the Prince Regent are not new, the pairing of this unlikely couple is different. You can feel for the female’s desire to be herself throughout the story. The soldier is a likable man and with issues that seem real for the time. Good story with a mystery that is not easy to figure out.
Very entertaining.Loved it!
Another fabulous view across class lines!
I really enjoyed this one!! The heroine is not your usually “diamond of the first water” but a real person!!
Good story. Great characters. Romantic. Would like to see more of these characters.
I gave this book a five because I really enjoyed it. A wonderful read
When captain Jack Dryden is summoned by the Prince Regent to do a life or death job he teams up with Lady Daphne Chalmers by the Regents suggestion, because she’s been known to be discreet. They embark on a lively and somewhat dangerous adventure, that keeps the pages of this story turning in anticipation to see who the culprit will be. This …
I loved the strong, intelligent, quirky female lead character in this book. What a perfect matchup for the handsome, intelligent male lead! I would absolutely recommend this book to any lover of historical romance!
