It’ll get better with time. That’s what everyone told me. They were so damn wrong. That night on the bridge, I was ready for it to end. The pain. The guilt. I couldn’t take it anymore. But then HE showed up. Tall. Broad shoulders. A thick beard. Plaid shirt. Through the fog and rain, he looked like a giant lumberjack coming at me. Turns out he was a mechanic who just happened to stop and notice … happened to stop and notice something leaking from my car. Next thing I know, the guy’s giving me a ride back to his garage.
He ruined my plan. I wanted to hate him for that but couldn’t. Not after he told me what happened on that same night exactly one year ago.
Travis doesn’t tell me it’ll get better with time because he knows it isn’t about the days or the hours or the minutes that pass. It’s about the breaths.
With every breath, you get stronger.
With every breath, you start to heal.
With every breath, you see a sliver of light.
Before he found me on the bridge that night, I couldn’t breathe. But Travis showed me how.
And with every breath, I grew to love him.

What a read!! This books was yet another epic representation of how amazing Allie is as an author. There were times I laughed, cried, and was on the edge of my seat in anticipation all throughout the course of this book. After a tragic accident, Skye has decided that enough was enough in her life and has decided to take action. On the night of said action, before she is able to follow through, Travis finds her and while he doesn’t know what’s going on, senses that she needs him. Travis himself had also gone through something tragic, but has worked through his grief much more than Skye has. While they pair bond over their grief, which ironically lands on the same day, they also notice the attraction they have for each other, but don’t act on it. But when Skye’s aunt pushes them to work together, things change. The book revolves mainly around Skye dealing with her grief and learning how to move on from her survivor’s guilt, but it also shows Travis dealing with guilt of his own that is different yet similar to Skye’s. As they develop their relationship romantically, Travis helps Skye to overcome her grief, but everything comes to a halt when he finds out why Skye was at the location she was the night they met. When their breakup forces Skye to work through unresolved issues from her childhood, we see how it has the ability to bring them back together, and then get the surprise of a lifetime in how both Travis and Skye’s loss are connected. I couldn’t get enough of this storyline and loved every page and every word. I can’t wait for the next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Such a sad story and I still didn’t want it to end. Tragedy unites Travis and Skye and their meeting each other is completely fate. They both suffered tragic losses but handled it differently. In their own way they saved each other. They were instantly attracted to each other the night they met but hid it from each other. They danced around it and it was actually very cute to see. Nothing was rushed and the way Travis tried to help Skye overcome her pain was heartwarming. He did everything he can to help her with her grieving. When they finally admitted their feelings it was just perfect. They go thru so much but come out stronger and more united at the end. Their ending was well deserved and I wanted more.
With Every Breath gave me all the feels. My heart broke big time for Skye and Travis only to soar high again with hope even in the darkest of hours. I finished this book with a renewed sense of hope springing eternal even for those who seem the most lost. Skye and Travis’s story made me truly believe in “meant to be”. Five stars for Allie Everhart who made me feel so completely immersed and invested in these character’s emotions from start to finish.
