Love is somewhere near the bottom of Lily Thomas’ list of life goals, right next to competitive eating and underwater cave diving. She’s spent six years pirouetting and pliéing her way up the ranks of the New York Ballet with her eye on the prize and love in the back seat. But now that Blane Baker — Lily’s long time crush — is finally single, she’ll throw her rules out the window without … thinking twice.
Reality with Blane isn’t as epic as the fantasy she imagined, and the truth sends her spinning straight into the arms of the man she never knew she’d always wanted.
West Williams has been friends with Lily since the day she moved into their building and he saved her armoire from a swift, sudden death by staircase. Their friendship has always been easy, the boundaries clearly defined. With neither of them willing to risk their relationship, they’ve drifted happily through the years as companions, never considering more.
That is, until they do. And that realization changes everything.

Loved it!!!
I actually read the second book first and then this one 🙂 but I really enjoyed reading this one. It was hot, sweet, fun and an enjoyable read. Loved West and Lilly. A great example of best friends that turn into lovers. But they didn’t see it coming. Will definitely read more from this series.
This felt and sounded like a take from Sex in the City – it’s even in the same city. This is not like the Bennet books (which is how I was introduced to this author) – this story is raunchy, steamy, messy and is what I would have expected of young singles loosed on the Big Apple. Despite that, Lily and West still come together in a sweet recognition of two who just fit, once they got over the best friends thing. It only goes to show that it is possible to find real love even in the hectic runabout of life in the Big City.
This was a really sweet friends to lovers romance! I really enjoyed Lily and West and the depth of their character development.
First book in a great series, and I really couldn’t tell you which one is my favorite. In With A Twist, Lily and West had so many sweet moments, but I wanted just a little more spice from them. West had just the right amount of jealousy to make him even more appealing without tipping the scales into overbearing. I didn’t feel 100% satisfied once they finally got over their issues and came together—more like 85%. I just wanted a teensy bit more of their chemistry before The End. Nevertheless, it’s still an enjoyable read and sets the reader up for a terrific series. And, uh, Tricky??…….. My Gawwwwd. *shamelessly swoons*
What A Twist is a great book. West and Lily are part of a group of friends and find themselves navigating the tricky road of friends to lovers. On to the next in this Bad Habits series!
I have read this entire series once before, and have started to read through it again, as it is one of my favorites.
Lilly, a dancer, for the New York Ballet Company, doesn’t really do relationships.
She is married to her career which takes up a huge part of her life and time.
She has had a crush on one of the dancers since puperty. Blaine, a guy who everyone crushes on and when he sets his eyes on Lilly, she feels as though her dreams have finally come true.
West, is a literature TA, at Columbia.
He and Lilly, have been best friends for a long time.
When they met, he was with Shannon, so he was off limits.
He would do anything to protect the women in his life and when he finds out that Lilly, is hooking up with Blaine, and that he is no good for her, he discovers that he has feelings for her that go deeper than just friends.
All of their friends, have known, for a long time, that they were meant to be together, but they are just figuring it out.
Staci Hart, has away of pulling you in and making you believe that her characters are you’re family.
I look forward to finishing out this series again and to all her new books in the future.
I absolutely loved this friends to lovers romance !! This is my first book from this author and it will certainly not be my last ! Fangirl over here!
Lily and West are friends and their circle is large. Lilly is a ballet dancer that has lousted after her partner for years but the build up in her head leads to a disappointment when her and Blaine finally happen. Where was the connection, the spark, the banter ? You realize that she has that with West they are funny , sexy , smart and support one another . What a fabulous story . I loved the dialogue between this couple it is funny, fresh and oh so entertaining !!!

I literally just finished and am squealing like a 12yr old girl. A fun story of friends who want more for each other. The friendships in this book are wonderful. It’s a great and diverse group, so you will not be bored when the next one comes out.
But best of all is the love story…what can I say I’m a sap. Best friends learn just how much they mean to each other. Great story
Very well written novel! I didn’t want to put this book down. Between the great details of the story line and the wonderful characters portrayed so well throughout it just kept me so intrigued! The emotions really play with you and you can feel the hurt, and anger as well as the happiness and love 🙂
Job well done. I will be looking into the rest of this series 🙂
I saw this book getting a lot of buzz on FB and GR, so I one-clicked it. I am soooo glad I did, I absolutely loved it! Not gonna lie, I’m 50/50 on the whole man-bun thingy. But holy bun hotness, West made me change my mind! I loved West way more than I did Lily in this book. Most of the stuff I highlighted was from him. I want a man-bun West for my own!! Lily was okay for me, she was funny. I did like reading about all the ballet stuff. Overall, I’d hands down recommend this to my friends. It was sweet, entertaining (read it in one sitting, didn’t want to put it down) little angst, so many great feels thrown in there, great side characters and one man-bun gentle soul.If you like friends to lovers books, this one is for you. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Sidenote-I’ve never read anything else from this author. I was a Stacie Hart virgin! I’m so glad I popped my book cherry with this book. I will for sure check out her other books. Yay for finding a new author!!!
Great story of people dedicated to their careers and hoe love steps in
Love the characters , they’re funny and feel so real. I couldn’t wait to find out the ending but by the time I got to the last pages, I didn’t want it to end.
It was hard for me to like the lead male heart throb because I’m not a huge fan of man buns or long beards. The author put a lot of emphasis on the fact that he had them and it was the whole reason he was sexy.
Great story; well written. Lovely characeters
Loved it!
A good book to read
I would have given it a 5 star, but there’s just too mush cussing which I think is not necessary.
Great fun. I got to like all of the characters and wished I could hang out for drinks with them.
Cute story, but nothing unpredictable. I do however want to read the second part. I have grown to care about the characters.
