The NFL has given me more than I ever imagined—a roof over my head, food on the table, and a chance to provide for the family who sacrificed everything while I chased my dreams.
Maintaining a squeaky-clean image for my sponsors when my paycheck and the fruits of my endorsements are all women want is a hefty challenge.
I’d nearly given up when I hired Darcy Cole. Yet the more I’m around her, the less I care about finding my perfect match.
Because it might be right in front of me.

RC Boldt has been on my radar for quite some time now and With A Hitch was the perfect place to start! I have never been so blown away by characters from the beginning like I was reading this story.
Darcy has had a life that really makes you be thankful for what you have. I love that Darcy has a mind of her own and does not hold back. Even though she has a difficult time getting over her past, Dax is really good for her.
Dax is such a sweetheart! When he wants something he sure does go after it.
There is not one thing I disliked about With A Hitch. The entire book was well written and the characters were amazing. With A Hitch is a slow burn and I found it very intriguing. RC Boldt has done a fantastic job with this book and I, for one, will be re-reading again.
This is another wonderful story by R. C. Boldt. I love sports romances and this one did not disappoint. I found it easy to connect to the entertaining and funny characters and the heartwarming story tugged at my heartstrings.
This book took me a bit to get into (I was in a book funk) but once I went back to it this book brought the feels.
Darcy is great at matching others but at a loss at finding a match for herself. When she finally takes on Dax as a client she gets more than she bargained for. Dax becomes more than a client when they become friends.
Will Dax be able to get Darcy on board that they could be the match for each other? Will Darcy’s past derail them before they can find their footing?
This was a great book. RC, as always, did a phenomenal job!
R.C. Boldt has knocked it out of the park once again. Her writing style is full of steamy scenes and little touches of humor that make her novels so much fun to read. Even though this is a standalone novel, she has included connections with characters from previous books which really adds to the story line.
Darcy has had a rough life, but Dax swoops in and teaches her about friendship and love. He is the perfect book boyfriend! He cooks, cleans, loves his friends and family, and is a hunky NFL star. What more could a girl ask for?!
I have loved all of R.C. Boldt’s books so far and cannot wait to see what else she has up her sleeve for the future!
I received an ARC of With a Hitch from R.C. Boldt in exchange for my honest review.
I like Dax and Darcy from the roles in ditched. I couldn’t wait for there story. I understand the book was a slow burn friends to lovers. But at 40 percent I grew bored of the story . I stuck it out til 80 percent , then gave up wanting to see the ending. I know I’m the minority with my review. I have read and enjoy many of the authors other works and will continue to read them.
A slow burn, friends to lovers book with all the feels. Loved it. Had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading it!! Highly recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed Ditched, so I was quite eager to read With A Hitch as I was already familiar with both characters. You just can’t help but love Dax and Darcy’s heartwarming and emotional, slow burn friends to lovers romance.
Dax is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s sweet, sensitive, charming and compassionate big hearted hero. I loved that he is so completely endearing and despite the fact that he is incredibly gentle and kind, he’s also incredibly masculine and is definitely an alpha.
Darcy is a complex heroine who hasn’t hand an easy life. She’s sweet and sensitive, yet incredibly driven and works hard in order for her company to succeed.
The sexual tension and chemistry between this pair is incredibly intense, and just oozes off the page.
I adored the side characters, in particular Dax’s team mates and I loved the fun, and humorous banter they share.
Once again RC Boldt has not disappointed and I will be eagerly awaiting her next release.
‘With A Hitch’ is the first book I’ve read by R C Boldt, and it was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
The book had a really good concept, focusing on Darcy a matchmaker who hasn’t known much love in her life. She is beautiful, fiercely independent and a very relatable character. When her sister and brother in law attempt to send business her way in the form of Dax Kendrick, a famous athlete, Darcy does not anticipate it being the matchmaking of a lifetime.
Dax is everything that you could possibly want in a man, he’s handsome, good to his family and with kids, and is also loyal and respectful. He focuses on the little things that matter to people which endears you to him more as a book boyfriend.
I’d describe their romance as slow burning at first and then it ignites and the chemistry between the two is undeniable. With every attempt at matchmaking Darcy organises, the more she realises that he’s not just the perfect best friend but boyfriend material.
The book is endearing and loveable and it’s a fun sports romance to read. There are lots of awww moments in this book and I couldn’t help but laugh at Dax’s interactions with his family.
It’s the perfect read for a busy commute and a perfect plot that felt original.
Can we all have a man like Dax in our life????
Dax Kendrick is swoony, strong and a mans-man…when he wants something, he is all in! He had a goal of what he wants….enter Darcy Cole. Darcy, oh how my heart ached for her. We were given an introduction to Darcy in Ditched (I’ve been anxious to find out more about Darcy).
When I read my first book from Ms. Boldt I had this feeling that I had just found an author that I wanted more from; so, like any good reader, I binged everything she had written and now, I snatch up every new release.
With a Hitch is a beautiful story not just about the romance between a man and woman, but it’s about the story of a man who knows there is more in life than just “the game” and a woman who has been damaged by her past and decide to not let that past define her future.
Thank you Ms. Boldt for another book that I will be adding to my shelf but also for giving me my no. 1 BBF!!!!

This was an overall great read! I really enjoyed the character of Darcy and how she took her past and used it as a guiding force to be successful in her future. After Dax’s past of a bad breakup, he craves to have what his parent’s have in a relationship, and this is the guiding force to bringing Darcy and him together. What starts out as a friendship between the two turn into so much more after they realize their attraction and feelings towards each other. When someone from Darcy’s past threatens her happiness and Dax’s career, she does what she needs to do in order to protect him, hurting him in the process. With help from their friends and family, they fight back and end up happily ever after. I really enjoyed this story and the flow of the storyline along with the story of Darcy’s past.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Dax is the book boyfriend the mold should be made of. He’s sweet, thoughtful, unafraid of female issues and dedicated to his mother, niece, sister… he’s just a GOOD man. Doesn’t help that he’s a pro ball player and looks like Adonis either. Great sense of humor, and just all around nice. Dang.
Darcy is his perfect match, not just his match-maker. She’s never had a good friend really aside from her sister, and her past leaves her wide open and needing a genuine good person like Dax to take up some space in her busy, business building life.
This story was just so enjoyable to read, start to finish. Can’t help but recommend it if you need a sweet friends-to-lovers with a splash of sports and some really great romance.
Characters I loved plus both laughter and tears
I’ve been a fan of this author for a while, though somehow I missed the earlier story about Darcy’s sister, Ivy, and her husband Becket, Dax’s best friend. While they both have supporting roles here, the author did a great job of providing any necessary background information along the way so I never felt I was missing out on anything by reading this book first. I will be going back to pick up their story ASAP, though.
As usual with this author, I loved both Darcy and Dax. Btw, I completely agree with Darcy when it comes to kale—in fact, most of that gym scene practically had me in hysterics. Also like Darcy, I too have trouble asking for help when I need it, so yeah, I related strongly to her. In fact, I related to her so strongly that some of this was hard for me to read and had me tears. I loved Dax as well, this strong, athlete with a soft and vulnerable side especially for his family, and who was protective and loving.
Plenty of great secondary characters here also, including not only Ivy and Beckett, but Dax’s teammates as well, and I’m already looking forward to getting more stories about them. I enjoyed the setup; there was plenty of humor, and nice chemistry between Dax and Darcy, plus there was a little mystery and a couple of plot twists along the way to keep things interesting.
The only fairly minor quibble I had was that this was a relatively long book, and it dragged a bit for me at about the halfway point where a lot of books would be starting to wrap up. I’m not really sure why, but I just wanted a little more action a little sooner—maybe just a case of spring fever on my part. In any case, things picked up soon after that, so it didn’t really detract from the story for me.
Characters I loved plus both laughter and tears made this another great read from this author for me. 4.5 stars

I couldn’t devour this fast enough. I loved it!
Darcy and Dax are funny, frustrating and so perfect for one another!
It’s funny how you brush things off that are right in front of you and are quite possibly the best thing for you.
I don’t read this author as much as I should and when I get her books it takes me back all over again to knowing that I really, really need to read her more. This is an emotional and sweet story from friends to lovers with a sports twist. Dax is the boyfriend everybody wants- a great son, uncle, brother and friend. Dax is leery of finding someone that wants him for him and not the money and fame associated with his football career. Darcy runs a successful matchmaking business and really wants to do right by her clients, especially Dax. While she is working with Dax she she sees that he really is a catch and her feelings shift from purely friendship to something else, something more. Will they be able to keep their friendship truly platonic when his perfect match is right there in front of him? I can’t wait for more from this author! I highly recommend this book!!
Pro football star Dax Kendrick has pretty much everything he ever dreamed of. An amazing career, a loving family and enough money to give back to the community he loves. What he doesn’t have, however, is a woman who wants him, not because of his fame or money, but because of the man he truly is. He’s just about ready to give up hope when he makes a last effort by contacting Hitched to set him up with Mrs. Right.
Owner of the matchmaking service Hitched, Darcy Cole has made many successful and happy long term matches for her clients. But, no matter how many people she helps find love, she can’t ever seem to find it herself. Growing up in the foster care system she knows that people can’t be trusted and love doesn’t come easy, but she wants that special someone more than anything.
Brought together by those they love most, Dax and Darcy have an immediate spark. While Dax quickly begins to see that Darcy may be more to him than his matchmaker or even a friend, Darcy is afraid to let down the walls surrounding her heart that she has spent her entire life building. While Dax is all in, Darcy is running scared. But, when they finally come together, it’s amazing. But, just when things are looking good, Darcy’s past rears its ugly head and threatens everything she holds dear. Can she protect those she loves while holding on to them, or will she need to walk away so they don’t become casualties of her past . . .
Hitched was absolutely amazing! I was totally in love with Beckett and Ivy in Ditched, but oh my goodness, R.C. Boldt completely killed it by making Dax and Darcy an unforgettable couple!
Darcy had a rough life until she met her foster sister Ivy at the age of 16. Never loved and shuttled from foster home to foster home, she has major trust issues and being in a serious relationship terrifies her. Yet, she falls into an easy relationship with Dax, and for the first time, lets a man into her heart . . . so much so, that she would do anything to protect him, even pushing him away to preserve his career when her past makes an ugly appearance.
Dax Kendrick was all that and a bag of chips! Handsome, successful, sweet, down to earth, loving, amazing with his family, a partner to his community and, he bakes when stressed out. I mean, seriously, what more could a girl ask for?! He truly lives for taking care of those he loves in whatever way he can . . .even if it is letting his niece dye his hair or baking his teammates birthday cakes. What I adored most was that he never truly gave up on Darcy, even when she tried her hardest to push him away.
Without ruining the plot, the drama of Darcy’s past is heartbreaking and she completely kicka$$ in how she handles things in the end. She’s a true inspiration and I was thrilled that taking control of what happened to her so many years ago in foster care lets her go after her happy ever after.
One Click Hitched now, because it will give you all the feels as you read. 5 stars!
Darcy & Dax
When I met Dax in the first book I thought what a great character, someone that you want to know and be friends with. I had no idea what a beautiful man he was. As I read each chapter he became more surprising and I was falling in love with his gentle nature and genuine care that he gave each fellow human being. Dax and Darcy’s first meeting is him showing concern for another person but soon you know that they have electricity between them. Darcy can be a bit guarded and reserved . She has grown up in the foster system and is a product of her environment. Do not let anyone in and do not become attached …she has lived by these words for years until Dax. He realized she needed a confidant, friend and someone to have fun with or just kick back and relax. The more time they spend together the more you will fall in love with this couple. Dax gently leads her into a relationship at her own pace . It seems as though he knew how to give her exactly what she needed at each phase of their relationship. They are sweet, funny, sexy and oh so romantic !

Wow!!! Dax is the perfect man wrapped up in a sexy package! Sweet and considerate! Hot and sexy!! He’s definitely someone you’d want to take home to your mom. And because he’s a man’s man your dad would love him too!! Lol. I adored his relationship with his family.
Darcy was the perfect match for him. She was so strong yet sweet. And I loved how she wasn’t the usual type of woman Dax went for. This slow burn friends to lovers story was so good! It also has me racing to go read Ditch for Ivy and Becker’s story!
Wow! Just one name is all I can say, Dax. If you don’t love this story, I don’t think you’ve read the same book. Boost has done it again with wrapping me into a book & me not wanting it to be over!
I so enjoyed this book! I loved the slow burn and the progression of Dax and Darcy’s relationship. I loved the fact they had time to really get to know each other with no pressure. GAH! RC gave me ALL THE FEELS and I couldn’t devour this book fast enough! Dax and Darcy seem to have a past no one is privy to and I enjoyed the way the story moves from the present and the past. Darcy doesn’t have much of a chance against Dax. He’s the sweetest man on the planet and she’s one lucky lady! Don’t take my word for it, dive into this amazing read and find out for yourself. Just be sure not to miss this book!
Great friends to lovers story that was a slow burn but you’ll clearly enjoy. Darcy worked as a matchmaker and was helping Dax find is perfect match. Dax used her because of her reputation and also because he was a professional NFL player and he didn’t want some woman using him for his fame and money. But as time passed he realized he didn’t want any of the women Darcy tried setting him up with, he wanted his independent friend. Darcy was started to have feelings also but she didn’t want to jeopardize their friendship. She danced around it until it was no longer inevitable and they combusted. They were so good for each other. She had second thoughts about everything because of her childhood and he had slightly also because he was biracial. There was a small oh oh moment but of course they came out on top. This oh oh moment touched an issue that is going on right now in real life and it opened up your eyes to how people abuse their power.
I enjoyed catching up with Beckett and Ivy but I’m highly intrigued by Kyler. I’m patiently waiting for his story.
