Witching for Grace really is magic, and am I the only one who wants to move to Premonition Pointe now? Chase’s newest novel is the exact right blend of magic, romance, and powerful female friendship.
“Fantastic witchy magic. Selling haunted real estate never sounded so fun. Deanna Chase delivers an entertaining story about the “joys” of growing older.”
This book was such a fun read. I love the humor in this book. The characters are strong and well written the world building is great and the plot and story line move along at a really good pace.
I love Grace and how she is written as a character with such a great sense of right and wrong but also one that is not afraid to speak up for herself and those she loves. I love the witchcraft in this book and how the author did not shrink away from making it front and center in the story. From the beginning you know that Grace, Joy and Hope are witches.
I love Owen and how he brings out the playful side of Grace.
This one is such a good read if you love a good read about witches, haunted houses and strong women that are not teenagers or young twenty year olds but women closer to midlife that high school. I can not wait for the next book in this series to come out.
I am working my way through the PWF books and some of the authors like Deanna are completely new to me. This is a well written book with a good storey but perhaps a bit too sweet and standard for my taste hence why i have given it four stars.
Witching for Grace by Deanna Chase is the debut of the Premonition Pointe series. Grace Valentine is on her own after having been married for twenty years. She also ran her husband’s real estate firm, so she needs a new job. Grace interviewed with Kevin Landers at Landers Realty (her husband’s rival firm) and has a temporary position as a realtor. If Grace wants full-time employment, she must sell one of three haunted properties that no one has been able to sell. Grace, thankfully, is a witch, so she has the right skills and connections. Grace has been trying to resist the urge to hex her cheating ex-husband and the twenty something he picked over her. As if Grace does not have enough going on, her niece needs a place to stay thanks to her mother’s sleaze of a live-in boyfriend, Grace’s hot flashes are off the charts, and her roots need done (desperately). On the upside, the thirty-four years old realtor in the office has asked Grace out (now she really needs a hair appointment). Witching for Grace gives us a look at a forty-five year old woman (and witch) who is starting over. Most of the life situations are realistic with humorous and witchy twists. Grace is lucky to have two good friends in Joy and Hope plus she has her niece, Lex. I would have liked more backstory on Grace and the town. I felt that was lacking. I loved the haunted homes and how Grace went about finding new owners for them (a story just on the haunted homes would have been intriguing). I would have liked to have heard more from the spirited inhabitants. There are some good life lessons in Witching for Grace that will resonate with many people. I do want to let readers know there is foul language (quite a bit) and sexual innuendos. Grace experiences passionate kisses that have her hormones on overdrive (the thoughts alone cause her to have hot flashes—she needs to start carrying a battery operated fan in her purse). I liked how the story ended and we get a glimpse at Hope’s tale which is next in Witching for Hope. Witching for Grace is an amatory romance story with a courageous cat, a charming colleague, an insensitive sister, humdrum hair, waxing woes, and haunted houses.
No one writes witches like Deanna Chase and her new heroine Grace Valentine is no exception to that standard. Y’all are going to glom this book! Happy reading!
A well written paranormal, fun read! Great relationships between a young adult and her aunt, and her aunt’s friends, mentors all, family drama, and all the fun involved in living life to it’s fullest…
I have loved every Deanna Chase book I’ve read. This one is no different in that I love it. It is quite different from other cozy mysteries. Things that are the same are witches and ghosts. Differences are an older lead (she is in her late 40s) and some PG but hot make out scenes. It is, after all, a paranormal Women’s Fiction so those differences are to expected. PWF are a new(ish) and it’s about time.
I loved this book- the connection Grace, Joy and Hope reminded me of how amazing it is to have friends who always have your back. The multi layers of all the relationships make me want to visit Premonition Pointe and I’m looking forward to reading Hope’s story.
Great book, hilarious, terrific characters and love that Grace deserves! Grace, an over 40 recent divorcee, is basically starting her life over. She has a new realtor job, new house, an ex-husband and a new hot younger boyfriend. She has challenges but meets them full force with her best friends and coven sisters.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if in the middle of one of your menopausal rants what you wished would happen to your ex (or whoever you were ranting about ) actually happened? That is the premise for Deanna Chase’s first contribution to Paranormal WOMEN’S fiction collection “Witching For Grace” . With MENOPAUSE comes changes to Grace Valentine’s life. Not just the old cliche of divorce because your middle-aged husband is cheating on you with his much younger receptionist but to her powers also . You see Grace is a witch. Suddenly, with anger comes accidental hexes, like STD for her ex and his girlfriend! Deanna Chase has you laughing through your tears as Grace and her coven (her two best friends) navigate through this period of their lives with unusual good Grace and a dab of magic! Ms. Chase had me wanting to move to Premonition Pointe and join in on the magic. This is a book I never wanted to see end. Thankfully book 2 is available on Kindle Unlimited so I could move on when it was available. If like me, you are lamenting the changes that growing older has brought to your life, pick up “Witching for Grace, for some witchin’ good fun!
In this first book of the new Premonition Pointe series, Grace Valentine is torn between cursing her cheating ex-husband with erectile dysfunction and hoping his much younger girlfriend gives him genital warts. In her mid-forties and newly single, Grace is determined to establish a new career with her ex-husband’s real estate competitor. The job is hers if she can sell the haunted properties that have been on the market in Premonition Pointe for years. While attempting to sell the haunted properties and help friends and family with personal issues, Grace attracts the attention of a much younger man—much to her surprise.
Witching for Grace struck the perfect balance of paranormal and reality, dealing with issues many middle aged women have already experienced or may experience in the future. Filled with friendship, family ties and a dash of witchcraft, the book is sure to please readers who enjoy strong female characters, romance, and humor wrapped in a paranormal package.
Grace is newly divorced and in need of a job. The real estate office is one she used to compete against, and to prove herself and land a permanent job, she needs to sell three unsaleable houses. Haunted houses.
Grace accepts the challenge, and while doing so, gets assistance in the form of a co-worker at the office. A much younger man, who has his sights set on her, and who makes her heart race.
This book has a Keating Hollow/friendly small town vibe to it, but with its own twist. There were some funny moments, and the main characters were all loveable. Solid start to the series and I look forward to reading book 2
I’ve read several of Chase’s series before, so I had high hopes for this PWF book, and she did NOT disappoint! This story was similar to the Witches of Keating Hollow series, but with much more humor, realism, and fire behind it. I groaned a bit when I read the three witches in their coven are Grace, Joy, and Hope, but thankfully not everyone has cliché names. Because of The WOKH series, I was expecting them to be sisters with such similar names, but they’re just besties that complement each other well in their coven. The WOKH series also has a Hope, so I do wish she had chosen another powerful but descriptive name for her, but the differences in the series’ was enough that I didn’t get caught up on it.
The humor wasn’t a dash here or there either. There were a few times where some hilarious scenes were developed which hooked me even more than normal. Grace starts as a wallowing, broken woman who is traumatized by the dissolution of her 20 year marriage, and grows into a powerful, inspiring witch with integrity, grit, and passion to fight for those who need her most. The pitfalls of getting older are aired out for everyone to read without hiding anything, but Grace doesn’t wallow about it. She embraces it, holding her head high and moves on to find the positive things in her life. The magical aspect of these witches was greatly increased which I loved. The fact she accidently hexes those who cross her is hilarious and endearing. I found her communication issues with Owen to be welcome as well. It really adds a sense of reality to the story to show she too isn’t perfect at everything she tries to be. As with the WOKH series, the final chapter is told by the character that will be highlighted in the next book of the series and sets the scene up nicely. I really can’t stress enough how much I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one! It’s the best of Chase’s books yet!
great bunch of over 40 series books, this being one.
It was a real joy to read this first book not only in brand new series but new genre as well. I loved this story that pulled me straight in to small town known as full of paranormal activities such as witches, ghosts, spells and curses.
Three besties, witches – Grace, Joy and Hope along with Lex make an amazing team. Great characters with a beautiful, meaningful names. Though this book was focused on Grace we got a lot of insights from other characters as well. Loved the paranormal side of story which was funny too.
The only thing I was not pleased was that book was a bit on the short side and left me wanting for more. Can’t wait for the second installment which I definitely will read!
Grace just divorced gets a job at a competing real estate office and she has been assigned the most difficult homes to sell because of course they are haunted houses. Grace takes the challenge with the help of her best friends and coven members Joy and Hope…they help her dig through the history of the houses and through trial and error, find the clients that match them. There is a handsome younger man and sparks fly, a niece and sister going through a challenging time, and an ex that keeps butting in…lol
Witching For Grace by Deanna Chase was a joy to read! I could totally related to Grace and wanted to join her and her friends for their adventures. There were lots of laugh out loud, Oooo and OMG I can’t believe that moments. This book is a new series and part of Paranormal Women’s Fiction #PWF…13 wonderful female authors have gotten together to create paranormal fiction for the 40 plus generation and I’m so excited to be reading these! I’m so looking forward to what happens next in the small magical town of Premonition Pointe!
Original story. I liked the characters. Not sure what the author was trying to convey with their names though – Grace, Hope, and Joy? Religion or serenity, I guess. Other than the choice of names, the idea of a realtor trying to move haunted houses and a younger man seriously courting an older woman were interesting twists. I liked it enough to look into the next book in the series.
Such a great read!
A new to me author, BUT will definitely be purchasing more books by her… Loved the story, the characters, were fun, kick butt & kept you wanting to read more. Which I wasn’t sure would be the case in the beginning, But boy was I wrong! Some parts had me laughing out loud & others had me crying, or sitting at the edge of my seat, wanting to skip parts to see what was going to happen, but also NOT wanting to miss what was going on right now. Add in a killer pair of heels… I think Grace is all of us at some point, ” ignoring the urges to hex her ex with erectile disfunction?” who hasn’t been mad, annoyed or enraged enough Not to wish they could put a little “hex” on someone for their crappy behavior. “…but she’s only human”, Truer words! Can’t wait for the next book! & Loving this new genre of PWF: Paranormal Women’s Fiction “a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!”.
I’ve never read the author before so it’s always exciting going in and not knowing what to expect. It’s also nice to find you enjoyed it and especially looking forward to the next one. A 45 year old woman who’s going through a divorce finds her self being pursued by a handsome younger man, juggling a new job opportunity that involves selling an awful lot of haunted houses and her niece coming to stay with her. Not to mention magic gone awry, a useless ex and her sisters crazy boyfriend her life has certainly gotten complicated. But she would not have it any other way. It’s funny, romantic, exciting and I enjoyed it entirely too much!
