Wes Rockville, a disgraced law-enforcement agent, gets one last chance to prove himself and save his career when he’s reassigned to a 232-year-old secret government organization. The Witches Protection Program. His first assignment: uncover a billion-dollar cosmetics company’s diabolical plan to use witchcraft for global domination, while protecting its heiress Morgan Pendragon from her aunt’s … Morgan Pendragon from her aunt’s evil deeds. Reluctantly paired with veteran witch protector, Alastair Verne, Wes must learn to believe in witches…and believe in himself.
Filled with adventure and suspense, Michael Okon creates a rousing, tongue-in-cheek alternate reality where witches cast spells and wreak havoc in modern-day New York City.

What an interesting story this is. It starts with Wes is trouble for something that gets him sent a new division. The problem is that it’s a secret division that he had no clue exists. He is quickly thrown into the deep end with no clue what’s going on but I must say he picks it up really fast. A story full of cops, witches, and surprises making for a fun read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Prime Directive: Protect the Witches. That’s the reason for the arm of NYPD known as The Witches Protection Program/Defenders of the Craft. It’s a law enforcement branch nearly as old as the country and its newest member is of a family long involved, an unbeliever who is sure that it’s all a big joke, and dyslexic. Great fun! Loved it!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from WordFire Press via NetGalley.
Wes is on his last legs as far as law enforcement goes. One more screw up and he’s done. He has been assigned to the Witches Protection Program, wait, what? Witches? They’re really a thing? Is his new partner Alastair just pulling his leg?
Wes starts seeing things that just don’t make sense, and the weapons? Where did they come from? He has to try to protect a witch whose Aunt is trying to take over the world.
Much quirkiness and adventure ensues! Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the book!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Wes, a young, ambitious government agent is about to have the shock of a lifetime.
And it all started with…a failure…surprisingly enough.
“You disappointed me, your family, and the entire force.”
Wes has always had big shoes to fill and with the most recent screw up, let’s just say that there’s only one place that’ll accept him.
The Witches Protection Program.
Wes becomes the partners with Alistair and together they race against the clock to serve and protect New York’s witches.
There’s something malevolent circling the Pendragon company and it’s up to Wes to stop it.
“At this point, she knows too much…You could kill her.”
Will he be able to save everyone in time? Will he even be able to save himself?
This was such a fabulous journey! So much fun from cover to cover.
The plot was fast-paced, sharp and definitely entertaining.
At first, I wasn’t completely sure if I could get into a witch-cosmetic-secret government agency book… but within a couple of pages, I was hooked!
I finished it in a single sitting. I know, I know. But it was that good!
Wes was wonderfully realistic and his attitude towards all things witchy was hilarious.
I love it when the characters just accept that the world is magical and move on with their lives.
And Morgan! I would being a disservice if I didn’t mention Morgan. She was the niece and heir to the Pendragon fortune…and a witch!
I loved her wit and sass. She was an absolutely fabulous character and every time she came on page, everything was brightened.
In addition, the humor was completely perfect for me.
The give-and-take between the characters injected some much-needed levity.
“What kind of gun is this?”
“It’s sort of a cosmic super soaker. Hit the bitch again!”
Overall, this was an absolutely an enjoyable read!
This is a second edition of a book I read back in 2015–it is slightly different but I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first. I copied the below from my Goodreads page. Back then the author was known as Michael Phillip Cash-he has since changed to his real name of Micheel Okon!
I don’t think I have not enjoyed and loved any of the books that Michael Phillip Cash or Michael Okon has written. And I really did enjoy each and every one of them. Some left me with nightmares for a while and some left me with a very good feeling and most had me chuckling every once in a while–not withstanding I loved them all and if you have never read one of his novels I suggest you go get one now–you will get hooked!
His newest novel “Witches Protection Program” in many ways is a fun book. I’m just hoping that there aren’t any real good and bad witches around–cause if they are——–well they are probably in the political arena (IMO).
Wes is a police investigator who has not been doing a very good job and his Dad (who is also his boss)-tells him he is being re assigned and that if he blows this–he is out–plain and simple. But how can a dyslexic guy who is a pretty straight shooter make it in a secret police organization when one–he doesn’t believe in witches and he is pretty down that his Dad did this to him.
Well after witnessing all the goings on Wes becomes a believer–but not a true believer until he is saved by the girl who they are trying to protect! This was a really fast read and a fun one with a lot of twists and turns–(yup did it in one sitting). Once you start reading it you will not want to stop–but then I find that with all the novel’s this author has written whether under the name of Michael Phillip Cash or Michael Okon!!
I received a paperback edition of this book from the author for enjoyment and a possible review.
Some authors just know how to tell a tale, give them an idea, tie a few knots in it, dip it in rainbow dye and they can run with it. Michael Okon is one such writer and Witches Protection Program is his latest idea gone wild. In a family full of over-achievers, Wes is not another cookie-cutter piece of perfection to hang on the tree. He is human, knowingly has a few flaws and has adapted, but of course, Dad, who happens to be his law enforcement boss, takes his displeasure to new levels by sending Wes to the Witches Protection Program, where good witches often become the victims of bad witches and someone has to protect and serve, right? Wes finds himself waist deep in witchcraft, and danger as corporate hijinks and dark secrets are uncovered. Will Wes find he just isn’t cut out to be a hero or will he discover something even better than pleasing good ole Dad?
It seems no matter what Michael Okon writes, he nails the entertainment factor from start to finish by reaching out beyond the safe zone and skims the very edge of the realms of possibility! With Witches Protection Program Mr. Okon has combined a little drama with a slurry of humor and a full measure of fantasy, put a bow on it and stamped it done with his own bold flare and style! Looking for an author who knows no limits?…who goes the distance to entertain with fresh ideas and fascinating plots full of originality? Look no further, it’s all right here, in Michael Okon’s latest! His writing is kind of like opening the Cracker Jack Box, packaged inside the covers is another great surprise!
I received this copy of Witches Protection Program from Michael Okon in exchange for my honest review.
Once upon a time, there were Willas and Davinas…two rival witch factions with different intentions for their crafts at heart. The Willas were all about helping others, and causing no harm; the Davinas were more focused on self achievement, and power. Think Salem Witch Trials…the more earthy, foul looking the witch….Willa! The more put together, yet magically touched accuser/witness…Davina! Of course, we all know where THAT fiasco led…but place it in modern day, and it doesn’t seem to fly as well. Good thing they changed with the times, or maybe not, because the bigger and badder the witch, the more powerful and ambitious they grew, and that made keeping them down THAT much harder. It’s easier to hide in plain sight than you might think, but then again…they don’t plan on hiding for that much longer…at least not all of them. Thing is…no matter the sect, there’s always going to be those that just don’t want to go with the flow…WITH GOOD REASON…and in this story, it just goes to show you that you can’t keep a good witch down!
Overall, I enjoyed the story, the twists and turns, the unexpected allies and the uber-evil adversaries that would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. Though I wasn’t a fan of Mr. Rockville…he was too cynical for my taste…I was feeling his awakening to the magic that surrounded him. At story’s end, we were left with promising room for additional releases, allowing us that chance to get to know everyone (that’s left!) and their diabolical plans (or not). My only real critique would be a wish for more time to go in-depth or more deeply detailed in a few areas.

Witches Protection Program
By: Michael Okon
*REVIEW*
Are you a good witch or a bad witch? It doesn’t matter because witches aren’t real, and magic doesn’t exist. At least, that’s what our hero of the day, Wes, always believed. Wes, an officer of the law(but not a good one), is a disgrace to his family. For his ineptitude, Wes is reassigned to a place that will challenge everything he knows. As it turns out, witches do exist, and a few powerful evil witches are out to control the world. How? By using their trillion gazillion cosmetics empire, of course! Make up will be the conduit of evil that gives these bad witches all control (Isn’t make up already a great evil that curses women?). Wes must stop this madness before it’s too late. Plus, he’s really got to reevaluate his perspective now because things are all out of joint. This story is fun and engaging, and the premise is unique. I liked Wes as a down on his luck guy who doesn’t give up, but instead, becomes part of something he could never imagine. He’s intelligent, likeable and entertaining. I thought this story flowed well with a good pace, and it kept me interested. Overall, I would recommend this book, especially for readers wanting something a bit different.
I have asked for a print copy to review and its the best witchy book I have found. I was absolutely amazed by Michael Okon’s writing. It’s absolutely a fun book to read. It had some funny parts and some snarky parts. And a good amount of action. Michael Okon is absolutely amazing!!!!! I don’t know how.much more I can stress how good he is. His books and this book is a MUST read. Cannot wait to read another book by this author.
“Two weeks ago, you didn’t believe in witches. What will it take for you to understand that freedom is fragile, and we must never forget what man, or woman, is capable of?” Witches Protection Program is an enthralling novel by Michael Okon. Wes Rockville, a law enforcement officer, has failed to perform satisfactorily for the last time and is reassigned—this is his last chance before he loses his job. The assignment? A top-secret division dedicated to the protection of witches. Wes, however, doesn’t believe any of this to be real. Is it a joke? Are they crazy? As his reassignment begins to unfold, Wes discovers that witches are in fact real, and are in danger if they are not adequately protected. Witches are essentially divided into two categories; Davinas who use their power for good, and Willas who use their power for dark magic. Morgan Pendragon, a colorful Davina Witch, whose mother is the proud owner of Pendragon Cosmetics, finds that all is not as it seems with a new facial cream coming into production. With her family not on her side and things seeming so wrong, Morgan finds herself on her own… at least until she encounters Wes Rockville.
Okon has delivered a truly one of a kind story. I found it difficult to stop reading once I started. From page one, you can sense the emotion and tension with Rockville’s predicament. Okon does an excellent job of making this fantasy novel come to life. The strange, unexplainable, and unbelievable become possible in Witches Protection Program. I particularly enjoyed the gray areas of the novel, meaning that not everything is black and white—good and bad. There are many characters, such as Wes and Morgan, who find themselves in many challenging situations and gray areas. I found the inclusion of celebrities and societal leaders to be particularly intriguing. Witches Protection Program has accomplished something that many others fail to do—it made me wonder and believe.
