The Whiskeys are taking the battle to Portland and setting up shop in Merry Eastwood’s backyard. They’re not alone. With the support and backing of the shapeshifters, vampires, and other paranormal creatures of the Portland area society—which includes dryads, djinn, dragons, rusalkas, and much, much more—Merry Eastwood should be outmatched. But that witch is over two hundred years old and she’s … old and she’s seen more than any of them could imagine. When a rash of murders pop up with evidence applied a little too liberally to pin Merry, Paige has a choice to make. Put Merry Eastwood, the most powerful witch their society has seen in centuries, away for murders she didn’t commit.
Or save her family, her society, and the entire Portland area and put her behind iron bars for the murders they can’t tie her to.

Witches of the West is an action-packed story full of witches, dryads, djinn, dragons, rusalkas and so much more. Paige and her family move to Portland, Dexx and Paige are on a new case, war is looming between witches and shifters, we meet new covens and so much more is going on in this book. This is a well-written story filled with humor, magic, shifters and storyline twists that pull me into the story. Although this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend you read the whole Whiskey Witches Universe series. Believe me, you will not regret it.
This author has did it again, another great book! The Whiskey Witches is at it again. Who is doing all the killing? Paige and family moved to Oregon and a new job with the local law enforcement, but found out he didn’t want to deal with a witch. Paige found out Merry Eastwood, another very powerful witch was doing some bad things and didn’t welcome the other witches. Oh, the workings of a bad witch and those helping her. Discover what goes on with this exciting book!
This novel felt like a particularly brutal growing-up story, with the main character going through multiple crises and life changes within a couple of weeks. Everything looks disjointed, fragmented and all over the place but pulls together in the last chapter. Just like life sometimes.

Merry Eastwood is going down! When the supernaturals ban together, they can take her. Problem is, she didn’t commit the current murders. So Paige has a decision to make, pin those murders on Merry to punish her for the ones not attributed to her, or let her go.

S.M. Blooding brings us “Witches of the West”, fourth in the Whiskey Witches series. This series is filled with magic, mayhem, shifters, demons, and a whole lot of fun. The characters are always interesting, whether loveable or loathsome, the storyline keeps moving with fast paced action and unexpected twists and turns, keeping the reader hooked from the first page through to the last page. WARNING: Ms. Blooding’s books are difficult to put down. They can be read as stand-alone stories, or for the full experience, read them in order.
Paige and her entire family have relocated to the Pacific Northwest, just east of Portland, Oregon. The City of Troutdale is the Whiskey’s former home, many years ago and they decided to return and bring the battle home to Merry Eastwood.
They had jobs lined up before the move, but Merry put a stop to that. Then Chuck steps in, offering and suggesting alternative jobs. Then Chuck helps with getting their new home ready for the family. The more she’s around Chuck the more she wonders what his motives really are. It does seem he’s been planning for the Whiskey’s to be in Oregon for quite awhile. Should she be worried?
The newly formed Red Star Division (gotta love homage to Wynonna Earp) is up and running trying to solve some murders and prove Merry did them.
When Paige gets attacked by some of Merry’s followers, she learns what her dark magic is capable of, what she can really do with it, how powerful she is and just how much it scares her.
I really like that the love scenes are a little steamy, and placed in areas that don’t interrupt the stories flow instead of willy-nilly just to get the gratuitous sex scene in. Tastefull placement.
It’s beginning to feel like I know these characters that they feel like friends I’ve known forever. It gets fun, too, spotting the author’s perogative in changing the surroundings, like north of Troutdale is a freeway and then the Columbia River, not mountains. Just my idea fun, spotting little things that ensure witches, etc. aren’t just down the street from me.
I have to give this installment five stars, like I did all the others, they are that good. I just can’t recommend this series enough to the believers and followers of witches, shifters, demons, angels.

Witches of the West by S. M. Blooding is a stand alone book set in the Whiskey Witches Universe. This book is immensely entertaining. The book is focused mainly on a witch named Paige (Pea) Whiskey, her family, and Dexx who is her boyfriend and working partner. In the opening of the story, Paige has just moved her entire family across the country from Texas to a small town near Portland, Oregon named Troutdale on the promise of jobs, a new home, and protection for her entire family from their enemies. In return, Paige and if needed her family members have promised that they will work with Chuck and the Council of Elders towards a common goal. However, when Paige arrives things are not exactly as she believed they would be. At this point, Paige discovers that Chuck and the Council of Elders expect her to head a team of assorted paranormals to protect all paranormals by policing any crimes within the paranormal community. Before the Whiskey family is even unpacked things begin to go wrong. This book is a non-stop page-turning thrill ride of one compelling problem after another. It is a complete story full of magic, mystery, intrigue, suspense, romance, and adventure. It ends with no cliffhangers and a happy ever after for now. I recommend this book for anyone who loves a great entertaining book. A compelling story full of magic, mystery, intrigue, and romance.
Although this PG13 procedural stands on its own and can be read in a day, one will get more out of it by reading the prior books.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with the Whiskey Witches and crew. S.M. Blooding spins a story that will pull you in and hold you hostage to the end. The characters are so well written, it makes you feel a connection to the story other than just by turning pages. Being the last book in the Origins series, I’m going to try and dive into the whiskey witch universe to get my fix of some of the best characters ever!
Paige and Dexx move the entire Whiskey clan to Troutdale, a town outside of Portland. Merry Eastwood is killing people in blood rituals to maintain her life. Paige and Dexx must stop her while dealing with moving and life with shifters in it. Will Dexx and Paige succeed or will Merry win? I can’t say enough about these books. Each can be read as a stand alone, although the wonderful experience of this book is enhanced when read in order in the series. I can’t say enough good about this story. There is humor, snark, epic fights and love in each story. Paige is kick ass and Dexx is more than the comic relief (although he does a great job at it) This is the book that reminds me most of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I just can’t stop reading this series of books. I love the Whiskey Witches.

Paige and her entire family moves to Portland, Oregon to bring the battle to Merry Eastwood’s doorstep. Chuck, the high Alpha and some of his pack tore down one house and built a huge one for the Whiskey family. This book contains no demons as in the past books. Merry Eastwood effectively introduced herself to the Whiskeys and warned them to leave or else. Everyone hwo had jobs lined up no longer had those options because of Merry. Chuck stepped in and rectified that situation and had been planning on this for months.
Paige learned Oliver is really her half-sibling. Leah and her are still working on building their relationship, Alma is out of sorts, Paige is the matriarch of the family now and the Captain of a paranormal squad to help fight crimes in their world. New secrets and alliance take place while everyone finds their places. Paige gains many new allies and starts her own pack. Dexx is still doing things he does best and loves Paige with his whole being. Apparently, Paige learns a secret of what she can really do, how powerful she is and a new power arises that scares even her. So many insist they are telling the truth about things..but who should she believe? Everywhere she turns is a threat waiting to occur. This was a fantastic book from cover to end. Hope to learn more from reading the next books in the series. I received this book via Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.
I absolutely love following the journey of the Whiske Witches. This series will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you begging for more. I want to read fast to know what happens but at the same time slow it down to savor each moment. The author has the prefect combination of action, suspense, magic, romance, and laughter. The narrator does a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. I look forward to more in this series and from this author and narrator.
Whiskey Witches Origins:
S M Blooding, The Demon Whiskey – Has an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before reading it. Although I was disappointed with the last part of Whiskey Witches, I decided to read TDW. This book can be read after or before WW, without any spoilers. Well written, with realistic dialog and an interesting plot. By realistic, I don’t mean vulgar language, since nowadays that’s considered the real way to talk. This book is heavy with vulgar language, which I found distracting in both books, and caused me to start skimming after a few chapters. But at least the English out weights the profanity. The author and I butted heads, and while we agreed to disagree, we found we had similar backgrounds. I found Blooding a nice and funny lady through our emails. Minor editing needed. I contacted the author to review her books after reading Whiskey Witches. 4*
S M Blooding, Whiskey Witches #1 – Intense. This well written, interesting story hits the floor running and doesn’t stop until the last quarter of the story. The characters are believable and the twisting plot keeps the reader immersed in reading until the last 25%. The book then got boring and silly in places. Unfortunately, WW is heavy with vulgar language, which distracted me in places. I do credit the author with some restraint, since there could have been more profanity. Minor editing needed. This is my first book by this author and I will be reading The Demon Whiskey. 4*
S M Blooding, Blood Moon Magick #2 – The stories keep getting better. Another well written, intriguing, fast paced book. The suspense filled storylines keep the reader immersed in the pages, making it hard to put the book down. The characters grow more with each story and the new characters are just as interesting. Ms. Blooding does an excellent job with her vivid descriptions and action scenes; you’re actually there with the characters. Kinda hard when you’ve got a good imagination and everything is clear; makes ya lazy. More paranormals add to the mix, adding a good depth to the series. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Barrel of Whiskey #3 – I know why I love this series, the Whiskeys reside in Texas. Not really, it helps, but the author does a great job with her well written storylines and interesting characters. The plot rides like a rollercoaster out of control; the pace is fast and there’s nonstop action. The characters, good and bad, make this, amongst other things, a difficult book to put down. Vivid descriptions are the norm for this author. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Witches of the West #4 -I love that I got to chain read the last three books. I never got tired of the well written, intriguing storylines; the interesting characters; and the fast paced action. Ms. Blooding is an artist with her vivid descriptions and rollercoaster plots, which make her books difficult to put down. Read them in order for the best entertainment. Needs editing. 4*
Whiskey Witches Origins End.

Whiskey Witches vs. Eastwood despite having the blood of the Eastwoods in her own home, Det.Whiskey has to fight her daughter’s grandmother’s evil and try to make Portland safe plus set up a new police force. This book does not disappoint and keeps you feeling and on the seat of your pants.
