To call Gran eccentric is somewhat of an understatement. She has questionable fashion sense, cough, can anyone say bedazzled Ugg boots and a tutu? But my Gran? She is awesome. So when she suggested I buy The Dusty Attic Bookstore I was all in, after all, what could go wrong?Try finding my high school nemesis dead on the floor of my newly acquired store for starters. Now I’m on the suspect list! … suspect list! Okay, so I just need to find the killer, clear my name, and pass my witches exam. Oh, didn’t I mention that? Yeah, seems the stunt I pulled on my cheating ex-fiancee cost me not only my job but my magic.
My name is Harper Jones and this is not how I expected my return to my magical hometown of Whitefall Cove to go.

I love Witch Way to Murder & Mayhem. This book is humorous and entertaining. I love the quirky characters. The plot is interesting and captures my attention. The mystery has many twists and turns. This is a wonderful book that was fun to read. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I’ve really been into witchy cozy mysteries lately and I found this first book to be very enjoyable.
I love the main character Harper, but I also like Gran and her wacky sense of style, and her two friends, Jenna and Monica. Archie, the cat, is adorable.
I’m looking forward to the next book.
Of all things, she missed her currently suspended magic more than she missed her former fiancé, her job or the town she’d lived in.
A telling thing, really. Crazy things go on in your head as a woman approaching 30. Transforming her jerk of an ex in a very public use of her powers, that was less fortunate.
A wild ride awaits- and I can hardly wait to read about it!
The very first book of the grand adventures of Harper Jones, who had lost her witch license, her librarian job, and that scoundrel of a ex-fiancee Simon within a very short time period in her old city of East Dondure. She moved back to her hometown of Whitefall Cove under the loving guidance of her quirky Gran’s magical wisdom to figure out what to do next about her magic and professional life. She is more upset over the loss of her witch’s license than the breakup with Simon. The Dusty Attic Bookstore is available for sale and waiting for Harper to buy it, per Gran’s advice. When she finds out that Whitney Sims, Harper’s arch nemesis in high school, is the town’s only realtor available to buy the Dusty Attic book store. After the contracts are signed, Harper scheduled to meet with Whitney to pick up the keys to her new business, but she finds more than a set of keys and dusty books waiting for her. Now, it is up to Harper to solve a mystery and get her witch’s license back in time before she is next!
This is the first book of the Witch Way Series, and a perfect introduction to Harper Jones and her witchy family and friends. Harper is smart and very sarcastic, along with Gran’s wise and very funny advice about her love life. The characters are well-developed for this first book which is a rare thing in a new book series. So it will be interesting how these characters develop in future adventures in this series. The snark between the characters is absolutely spot on and so funny. This is a great introduction of Harper and her crew full of fun and fantasy along with mystery and mayhem, mostly on Gran’s part.
Ms. Hinchey can balance the paranormal fantasy and a well-plotted mystery with a touch of reality with ease. She provided several insightful characters, such as Harper and Jackson, that provided some necessary development in personal growth department for Harper. I love to see characters come to the realization their past loves wasn’t a good thing and the future is bright for a new love interest. A book with a very well devised plot with funny and quirky characters with a dash of magic makes an excellent read anytime.
Ms. Hinchey produced a first rate book to a great paranormal mystery series that provides non-stop action that kept this reader’s interest throughout the mystery. She is a master of excellent paranormal storytelling and created memorable characters, such as Gran and Harper, with a healthy dose of magical mystery for our sleuthing crew. I am a very happy reader when I read a well devised plot line with two of most funniest and quirkiest paranormal characters with a dash of sarcasm and humor that wrapped up in a great mystery story.
I cannot wait to read more paranormal mysteries from Ms. Hinchey. A very nice breezy read for a lazy Sunday afternoon. An excellent book that deserves all five stars. I was given an ARC for an honest opinion.
So who DID kill the old classmate?
This was such a fun book to read. Gran is a hot mess and the new book store is a diamond in disguise. But being accused of murdering an old classmate was a kicker! All of the twists and turns make it a wonderful way to wind down a day and just chill with a great book. Loved it!
Love these kinds of books and this is at the top of my list. It has paranormal with a murder mystery and they have to figure out who done it! At times this book made me laugh and I completely enjoyed myself with this one!
I have read 4 books in this series and I like the writing style of this author. The cast of this book series evolve and grow like real people and the story moves nicely. I would recommend this series of books. Gran is great, a nice mix of sage wisdom, fashion funk and zest for life. Harper and her friends solve murders, have fun and enjoy life in a paranormal small town. There is also a box set with books 1-3
This is the first book in the Witch Way Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series. Welcome to the wonderful world of Whitefall Cove where there are witches, familiars, and friendly vampires. In this book, Harper just lost her job, her witch’s license, and her fiancé, so she moves back to Whitefall Cove and in with her Gran. She decides to buy the local bookstore that has been closed and vacant for a while. Unfortunately, when she goes to get the key from the realtor, she finds her dead on her dead on the floor! She is then accused of the murder! She and her friends decide to figure out who really committed the murder because they know it wasn’t Harper. This is a great book and I can’t wait for the next one!
In this first book of the Witch Way Series, we get to meet Gran and Harper. We hear about how Harper came to be back with her Gran. We hear about her relationship with Simon. Who is he? What did he do that got Haprer in trouble and fired from her job? God, I love Gran!!!! I really do not like Whitney Sims. Though she does come to grow on me by the end of the book, sorta. We meet Jenna, Liliana Miles, and Jackson Ward. What do each of these three people do for a living? I really like Jackson! Oh lordy, I cannot tell you all of the different ways I love Gran and her eccentricities! Oh my gosh, the wrap-up of this mystery had me giggling. Especially the visitor at the end!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
If you love cozy mysteries and a good laugh…. the this is the book series for you. It’s got murder, betrayal, lies, crushes, best friends and a super snazzy grandma who’s a barrel of laughs. What’s not to love?! Definitely going to be reading the next book!
I was hooked from the first page and stayed hooked. Brilliant storytelling with great humor. I do like a book that has me laughing out loud, and this did that in spades.
This was a wonderful story with Harper who is a witch who had her powers suspended. When she returns to her home town the fun really begins. With great friends she works to solve a murder and has lots of interesting surprises along the way. Jackson who is the detective and also a necromancer was also a fun character and I look forward to more of these two in the future. A Gram who is a witch was such a character and had me chuckling more than once. I loved it!!
Really, I wouldn’t blame Harper for her actions, even though the reprecussions suck. We’ve all done something we’d come to regret (at least the consequences anyway). So when she’s back in her hometown she needs a change. Makes perfect sense…not so much when the bully from high school ends up dead and she’s the suspect. But hindsight’s 20/20 and all that…
I haven’t typically chosen cozy mysteries in the past, but following Jane Hinchey’s previous works, I was intrigued and not left disappointed. I’ve only read one other book series that could match the eccentric nature of Gran, but they’re two totally different worlds of awesome. The story itself keeps you on your toes, just like a challenging brain teaser. I’d definitely recommend picking this up if you’re a fan of cozy mysteries, and if you’ve never read one, it would be a great title to start with! I received an advanced copy and volunteered to review.
The characters in this book were such a hoot! This cozy mystery was definitely a laugh out loud read. There’s a mix of the supernatural scattered throughout the story as our characters work together to solve a murder. I didn’t realize who the killer was until the end, and then all the dots connected. I would love to revisit Harper, Gran, Jackson and the crew in more books. I highly recommend this book!
Witch Way to Mistletoe & Murder is the first book in the Witch Way Paranormal Cozy Mystery series.
Final Rating: 5 Stars
After an epic mistake leaves Harper coming back to her home town and living with her crazy but lovable Gran, not sure what to do Gran gives her a wee nudge and she decides to buy the old bookstore The Dusty Attic and trouble decides to follow her. What should be a great day celebrating getting the keys to the store changes to finding a dead body inside her new store. Now starts the adventure of Harper, her friends Jenna and Monica and lest we forget Gran as they decide to work out who the killer is via their “Book club” as they don’t think Detective Jackson knows what he is doing. There is plenty of witchcraft, hilarity, secrets and mystery and twist to keep you entertained and I can not wait for the next book in the series to see what other high jinx will happen!!
After her act of vengeance backfired, Harper Jones returned to her town looking for a new start. Old friends, a sassy and out of this world gran and a death at her feet! Amusing story with different and funny characters with lot of drama, suspense and an intriguing mystery that had me guessing all the time. Liked Harper and her friends’ wittiness, their sleuthing method and how the author kept me following them. With a promise that there is more to come, the author left me eager for another Whitefall Cove’s adventure.
I have read all of Janes paranormal books and really loved them, so when I was given the opportunity to get an ARC and review the first in the cozy mystery series, I jumped at the chance.
This is a clean romance, with humor and a lot of intrigue.
The plot is interesting and well developed and there isn’t a time where the story drags.
These mysteries are great for taxing the brain to figure out who did it.
The characters are really likeable and there are a variety of characters to satisfy everyone.
I highly recommend this series, – in fact all of Jane’s stories are a must read.
I am a huge fan of cozy paranormal mysteries. In fact, it is almost tied with my absolute favorite: urban fantasy. When an author I like started a new series in this genre, I was ecstatic. I started the book and was at first hesitant. By the time I was about a fifth of the way in, I was in love. I enjoyed this book so much! Great plot, great characters, and some interesting plot threads for the future. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Gran, Harper, Jackson, etc. If you like cozies, give this one a try; I don’t think you’ll regret it. I recommend highly!
I liked everything about it. Entertaining, funny and the mystery was spot on. This is a good read that I would recommend to everyone. I received a free ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Witch Way to Mistletoe & Murder – Gran had me rolling on the floor with belly laughs; I love that clotheshorse hussy. This is not your typical cozy murder mystery; there’s actually interesting storylines, funny dialog, an interesting variety of characters, almost all likable. This clean story moves at a fast pace and there’s plenty of intrigue.
Gran plays a large part in this story, but she’s family, she makes things happen and she’s a good, loving support for Harper; plus her confidence and personality are over the top. There’s substance in this story, not the typical drivel cozy, and the characters act mature and can think. I contacted the author to review her books. 5*
