Finding a body washed ashore in Whitefall Cove was not how I wanted to start my day.I much preferred to face the morning with a hot strong caffeinated beverage, but alas, we can’t always have what we want. Out on a morning stroll with my familiar, Archie, I couldn’t believe my bad luck when we stumbled upon the body of local teenager Emily Sherman washed up on the beach.Unable to resist the lure … beach.
Unable to resist the lure of solving the mystery, I immediately set about finding her killer, but untangling a growing list of suspects isn’t as easy as I’d initially thought. With an election looming and Councilor Griffin’s nephew caught up in the net, the pressure is on to find out whodunnit and close the case.
Let’s not mention working side by side with newly single detective Jackson Ward. Murder, mischief, and mayhem I can take in my stride, but a date with Jackson? That’s enough to have my magic sparking in nervous anticipation.
This paranormal murder mystery will have you completely spellbound and laughing out loud!

Witch Way to Beauty and the Beach: A Witch Way Paranormal Cozy Mystery by Jane Hinchey is a wonderful story that I have read and loved. This is book number four in this wonderful series and I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about paranormal cozy mysteries.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I loved Witch Way to Beauty and Beach! I love this series and each book seems to get better and better. The characters are humorous and interesting. I really enjoy their witty banter. The mystery has many twists and turns to keep you guessing. I could not put this book down. This is a fun, entertaining book to read.
I’m really enjoying this series! Poor Harper finds another dead body and then has to deal with witchy teenagers. Yikes!
Gran is, of course, in her element. I can picture her so clearly in my mind and you just have to laugh.
I really thought I had figured out the murderer this time. Oh well, I’ll try again with the next book.
Gran being Gran really manages to have a toe in trouble all the time. She gets involved with a collection of mixed blood witches and helps them prepare as a dance troupe for a summer talent competition.
Mayhem ranges from a messy marshmallow goo on the floor, to some very grown up issues. A few adult aged folks are bad acting in many ways, not limited to trouble with the young adults.
New info surfaces about short term beau Blake, and it is not all that flattering, for more than one party.
Trouble and danger lurk in their little town- yes! Great reading!
Witch Way To Beauty And The Beach : (BOOK # 4 : A Witch Way Paranormal Cosy Mystery) : Jane Hinchey.
Adelaide Author Extraordinare, Jane Hinchey Does It Again & Again & Again
& Again, Well You Get The Picture!
In a World of Out and Proud Magic User’s & Supernatural’s of All Types & Species,
We Find This Book Taking Off With Gran Leading Her Teenage Dream Students In A Dance Rehearsal For The Annual Whitefall Cove Talent Quest!
I’ve Gotta say, I’ve grown to love the Harper Jones books (even though I’ve only read books 3 & 4), I can’t wait for book 5, but in the meantime, I have the BoxSet Books 1-3 to catch up on so it’ll be no trouble waiting!
You could get away reading these as individual titles, but you’d miss out on back storylines & characters appearances or mentions of this person, place or thing, that you just can’t fully comprehend.
So Do yourself a Favour, don’t Rush Out to Buy the Book, buy the Whole Damn Series!!!
Out of Book 3 & 4, I much preferred book 3, “Witch Way Down Under”, but I’m an Aussie & it was set on my home turf of South Australia (which is like a rare Gem) & I absolutely loved reading & hearing the Aussie slang & colloquialisims, we don’t normally hear / read in books that are usually set in the US or Europe or if in Oz, then its its normally one of the biggest States or Tourist Destination like Sydney, Melbourne or The Gold Coast.
In saying that though, by no means does it mean I didn’t love this adventure, because I throughly enjoyed it, so much so I devoured it in just 2 lazy afternoons lounging about outdoors in the winter sun!
A Jane Hinchey Supernatural Cosy is a great enjoyable quick read.
Its like a pallet cleanser, but for the mind, especially great after a heavy duty series binge or epic novel.
You could get away reading these as individual books, but you’d miss out on important back Storylines & Characters (who are mentioned, but don’t make an appearance as such or mentions of places, person’s or thing’s that you just can’t quite fully comprehend.
So while it’s possible, I would recommend starting at book 1 “Witch Way to Murder & Mayhem”!
I Absoluetely Loved the small touches of humour throughout this book, it truly shows aspects of the author’s terrific real life sense of humor!
Jane You Crack Me Up Girl, and are one of the most extremely hilarious & funny women I know!
One of my favourite scenes is of course by none other than the FABULOUS GRAN, & her good old fart gag’s, but it’s not because of the smell or anyone gagging!
And fart jokes never truly die, they just turn to GOLD, especially when it comes out the trunk of an elderly Grandmother’s boot as a toot, which magically turns into gold pixie dust! This woman is such a Hoot, I dare you not to laugh, giggle or even snort!!!
Ms Hinchey has a wonderful ability to write real life characters, but usually with that extra special touch (not just the supernatural/ Paranormal abilities).
They have with real world problems just like you & me & are just like our real life mates. Some are nice, some are flawed, but make you feel something. Some you care for & others not at all.
She can write great characters, both main & secondary of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Variety and some, way more likeable / lovable, than others. Like the remarkable fun loving Gran & the sleek, sneaky, snarky, nosy puddy tat Archie, who both steal the limelight & show (and I’m no a cat lady, so if I was witch, [well some say I am, but that’s another story], I’d be in real trouble, as I’m a dog person)!
Then there are others, the one’s who you dislike or love to hate, but all evoke some sort of emotion in you just like real life people!
The storyline kept me guessing till the very end & although I did pick a murder suspect early on in chapter 10. I was close in certain aspects, but no cigar!
And since the character (I thought was Murderer is only mentioned once or twice,
at the start – middle), I quickly knew I was wrong, but love it wasn’t so obvious & that I had it wrong for a change! Many cosy’s are just too predictable. I love that Ms Hinchey’s aren’t, its an added bonus h& just part of the reason I love her books!
A Supernatural Cosy Requires a Few Critical ingredients to be successful besides great characters & storylines.
Firstly there must be a tonne of Mystery, Murder, Mayhem, Madness & Magic!!!!!
Check, check, check, check & unfortunately only 1/2 a check on the Magic.
So if a supernatural cosy about witches must include the major components of Magic, Witchcraft & Wizardry & contains multiple Supernatural Races too, then there must be a tonne of different species mentioned (check) & elements of their supernatural abilities (a non check 4 me) in the storyline, or otherwise it may as well just be any old mystery cosy.
And this is where I think this book lacks in its storyline. So what could have been a 5 Book, now becomes a 4Book!
I counted 11-12 magical events, spells or occurrences, but none of which were major, time consuming, or complex.
All being minor spells said in a word or 2 or flicks of a wand or snap of the fingers.
So technically I could pass the magical content / element, however, honestly it wasn’t enough in quality for me!
Reading the reviews for this book on multiple sites a suggestion was put forward, “Was it possible this book was rushed by the author?
Well, yes of course that could be a factor, but, We the readers / fans place a tonne of pressure on authors today, demanding to know when the next book in the series is available. This can be a big problem for the author, but as someone who has read most of Ms Hincey’s books & owns them (most paid for by myself), I don’t believe this book was rushed) or if it was, I don’t think it shows in Jane’s writing here!
Personally, I’d rather an author’s take their time to create the best possible book / story, than to have it a couple of weeks or month sooner, with slightly less quality or content. I’ve always been the type that prefers quality over quantity!
My Favourite Parts of Jane Hinchey’s Writing & Why I’m So Taken With It
What a great idea to bring together such an eclectic group of characters for a Murder Club rather than a Book Club @ the Dusty Attic. Each team member brings to the murder board their individual skills from their daily jobs / careers as well & their supernatural abilities ranging from witches / big reader & book store owner & part-time amateur sleuth, vampires / bar tender ghost, Necromancer / Detective, Human / Reporter, Student & School friend in the know & of course there’s Archie’s incredible sixth sense & Gran & her mischievous plans (we certainly know where her Granddaughter gets it from)!
All combine to become an awesome group of sleuths ready 2 solve any mystery rather just than leaving up to the professionals of the Whitefall Cove Police Force, but with an inside source in the WCPD & all the perks that go with it, how could they not get their wanted Man or Woman in the end?
One other aspect I adore with Ms Hinchey’s writing is her ability to write a love / sex scene.
Although in this book, there are no sex scenes, they are always perfectly & tastefully written, never consisting of crude words or names of body parts that many people find disrespectful & when sear words are used its never vulgar with the language used in context.
For this Jane I not only praise you, but greatly thank you & your sex scenes have improved in leaps & bounds since your debut book!
There’s nothing worse than hearing about some man’s great big throbbing cock that is so larger and pulsating with last that can barely fit in a woman of slim build tiny tight vagina!
Come get real, how many of us truly speak like this in the throws of lust or lovemaking.
Don’t get me wrong I’m no prude and I love a great sex scene as much as the next person, but it can be done with class & dignity & Ms Hinchey has it in spades as do all my favourite All-Time Favourite Author’s, and YES Jane Hinchey is Australia’s best & for me my favourite All-Time Favourite Adelaidian Author.
And speaking of an Adelaidan author,
I love that Jane is bringing in aspects of our home state and our local breweries & Wineries into her books even though they mostly set in the US.
Just Love, Love Loved reading of our little local Adelaide Hills Beer making an appearance in this book!
Gotta Love our “Adelaidy” Author Extraordinare publicising our little know local classic brews such as “The Grumpy Brewhaus Adelaide Hills Pale Ale” in her World renouned International Book Series.
After all, Adelaide does have some of the finest Wineries / Breweries in the world @ our door step in the Barrossa Valley and Adelaide Hills!
And another masterstroke scene : Jenna scared out of her wits @ the local newspaper office & decides to hide out under the Obituaries writer’s desk!
What a genuine imaginative initiative & brilliant plan,
Cudo’s, Jane that’s one terrific strategy!
Personally I’ve had many incident with people who have passed, some pretty terrifying too, so reading the Whitney scene unintentionally scaring Harper had the little hairs standing on the back of my neck!
This scene is written to perfection & I appreciate the way your mind works!
Jane your a Bloody Genius Girl!
I Rate Witch Way To Beauty And The Beach 4.2 Out of 5.
I Recieved this ebook as An ARC COPY From The Author, but that in no way will sway my thoughts on this book.
This is my fair, honest & impartial review of my own volition.

Harper is back home in Whitefall Cove for this murder mystery, and things are really heating up between her and Jackson! Witch Way to Beauty and the Beach is a super-fun read, with twists and turns to keep you guessing right up till the end. I am loving this series, and this was my favorite installment so far. Can’t wait for Book 5 from this awesome author!
This is one of my favorites by author Jane Hinchey.
Loved the romance of characters Jackson and Harper.
Wonderful book.
There are plenty of suspects for Harper and the murder club to work through with this murder, fortunately we have Gran for entertainment as well as The Whitefall Cove talent show to look forward to. Be ready for some great twists and secrets that will leave you slack jawed along with some great sizzling moments between Harper and Detective Jackson as well as vulnerability in people we least expect it from. Now to see where things go in the next book!!
Loved Harper and friends. Harper has her hands full dealing with her Gram who continues to amuse. Jackson was also a fantastic character and it was nice to see things progressing between him and Harper. Great plot with a new mystery with some good secondary characters and twist to keep you guessing. Lots of humor in this who done it along with characters that grow on you including Archie the cat who has his own personality. Loved it
I came in late to this series but still found myself completely enthralled with this small town magical community.
Harper was a blast ~ endearing, empathetic, quick-witted. She tended to show up in the wrong place at the right time which only fed her intense curiosity. She needed to know the Whys? The Hows? And most definitely the Whos?
Jenna is her BFF. Jenna might possibly be an even noisier busy body than Harper. I’m sure being a reporter has no bearing on that personality trait whatsoever * snickering*.
Jackson is a pushover when it comes to his girls. Small town sheriff with a big heart. And quite the eye candy. It seems he may have a small flame burning for a certain someone.
Gran’s is a blast. She is right at that time in her life when she knows better but no longer needs to care.
This had the perfect mix of humor, suspense, and hi-jinks to create one very solid cozy mystery. Even a bit of romance to round out the read.
This is part of a series and even though I came in at this book I really had no problem connecting with the cast. I did, however, have questions and was left with the need to start from the first in the series.
I foresee some previous cast members making untimely reappearances and possibly throwing a wrench in the story line.
I read a copy via Kindle Unlimited
I love reading mysteries that I do not figure out straight away. Jane Hinchey’s books are exceptional in keeping you riveted to the story and leaving you guessing to the last! As always, another great read! Keep rockin’ it, Ms. Hinchey! Your imagination is awesome! Thanks for sharing your wonderful gift!
Book four in the series takes the reader on a wondrous ride in a mild paranormal adventure.
Well written with a good plot and storyline, this delightful and enjoyable cozy mystery features witches, vampires and necromancers.
Witty, exciting and humorous at times, it is a real page turner that becomes increasingly additive and difficult to put down.
The characters are vivid, colourful and believable and are involved in solving another action packed mystery and murder.
There is good background information on certain characters and also good detailed description to scenes and settings.
The Author did not disappoint.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I think this is my favorite book in this series. I do love crazy Gran, her wardrobe and antics. The romance between Jackson and Harper is so good. A little steamy goes a long way with me as I prefer to us my imagination, so it was perfectly written. The story line really had me going and I never did figure out the “who dun it”. A great page turner. More please!
I received an ARC from the author, Jane Hinchey, in exchange for an honest review. Very detailed and entertaining book. Characters are fabulous. You’ll want to jump in and help them solve the beach murder. Love Jane’s books!!!! Cannot wait for the next one. Enjoy!
A well crafted mystery, it kept me guessing until the end. This series is a winner.
What a great addition to this series. I love the cozy mysteries and all the characters that makes this fun to read and funny.
Harper Jones. Gran, Jenna and her familiar, Archie are back in Whitefall Cove for another magical adventure of mystery and mayhem. Harper discovered a dead body on the beach while walking with Archie one evening. This news spread quickly throughout Whitefall Cove with a list of suspects that is growing longer than Gran’s talent show dance routine! Meanwhile, Harper is juggling a mystery, Gran’s antics, and a new love interest while tracking down a killer before another death happens in her community.
This adventure is the fourth book in this series that is a fabulous standalone book that begins with an interesting mystery along with a promising romance between Harper and Jackson. The author introduced a new apparition character that I did not know anything about this spirit until Ms. Hinchey provided a detailed history of this character which is a nice touch in my opinion. She gave several excellent references of past characters and events in her previous three books to get this reader updated of who’s who in Whitefall Cove that will increase the reader’s interest in her previous stories.
Ms. Hinchey produced another great mystery with plenty of action to keep this reader’s interest throughout the mystery. She is a master of excellent character development, such as Gran and Harper, with a healthy dose of romance for our heroine. I am a very happy reader when I read a well devised plot line with several funny and quirky characters with a dash of magic that can provide a great read anytime of day and night.
I cannot wait to read the adventures of Witch Way Paranormal Cozy mysteries from Ms. Hinchey. A nicely paced mystery with highly entertaining characters, such as Gran, with a touch of romance and magic. This is a great light read to escape in the paranormal world of Whitefall Cove for the night. I was given an ARC for an honest opinion.
I could not put this book down. Gran is always up to something not normally in her age group and this time is no exception. The description of the talent show was so vivid in my mind, I was almost there enjoying every minuet. Harper tries so hard to stay out of trouble but is always follows her. Again in this book, the “who done it and why” surprised me. Each book in this series gets better and better. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.
oh dear can Harper stay clear of death I’m beginning to think not. She seems to be a magnet for it. In this book the murder club comes back together to solve the murder of a teenage girl whose been hiding more than one secret. And this time the murderer is someone I didn’t really see coming I thought I had it worked out but alas I was wrong. Jenna has done some sleuthing and has unraveled some interesting things that she thinks maybe related to the case but it turns out they aren’t.
I’m loving Ms Hinchey’s cozy murder mysteries. With Harper and Gran and of course a great cast of characters what isn’t there to love. PS there may also be advances on a relationship.
I loved this book. The characters worked well together. Harper and gran hadn’t been back home from Australia long before a local teenager’s body is found on the beach. Harper enlists the help of gran and her friends to solve who murdered the teen. Good plot good characters good book.
