Welcome to Holiday Hills, where there is magic & mystery in the air…
I wear many hats:
I’m a friend.A sort-of girlfriend.A ghostwriter, and… herself—takes a new job with the Magical Bureau of Investigators, she stumbles upon a threat so big, it could destroy everything she holds dear.
Fiction, right?
Nope.
For reasons beyond my witchy sixth sense, everything I write is now happening to me in real life!
Did I mention my character gets into REALLY bad situations? Now I’ve got to figure out who’s cast this awkward spell and find a way to reverse it.
And if I don’t do it soon, I might just wind up the “dead” in my deadline.
If you like paranormal cozies, you’ll love this series!

Fun Second Book in the Series
In starting to get into this series more. I’m enjoying the characters, the magic, and the mystery. It’s interesting seeing Abby grow, both in magic, and in controlling the magic. I’m looking forward to reading what’s next.

Abby and friends are wonderfully written. The story had plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing. I can’t wait for the next one! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Incredible Paranormal Cozy Mystery!
What an amazing start to this new series. I love Abby, our feisty heroine, and her familiar Cooper. Great characters, unique storyline with plenty of suspense, action, twists, magic, witches, warlocks, shapeshifters and humans. Can’t wait to read the next book. I received an advance copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
Witch this Way (Holiday Hills Witch #2), my ninth highly enjoyable read from author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Well-written & enjoyable, I was only familiar with this author from the Lily Sprayberry Realtor mysteries until I was given a copy of this book & hadn’t read There’s a New Witch in Town (Holiday Hills Witch #1) yet so I went out & bought it to read first. An excellent read, even better than the first. This may be the author’s best work to date! I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Abby is in the midst of working on a book that becomes eerily like her real life. She’s pursued for a amulet. Lots of twists and turns throughout this really enjoyable read. The plot is solid and the characters are relatable and likeable. Take a chance on this series you won’t be disappointed and will be left wanting for more. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Witch this Way was an absolutely excellent witchy cozy mystery!
Abby is coming into her own and getting comfortable with her recently discovered witchy powers. She is happy with the many other hats she wears – friend, writer, and maybe girlfriend to Gabe.
Everything turns sideways when the text in the book she is writing begins magically changing to match events happening in Holiday Hills. Abby needs to figure out why there have been multiple cases of arson, why her writing is spinning out control, who her real friends are, and what on earth she wants to do with her life.
Oh, and all this has to be done before she or her loved ones are injured or killed.
Witch this Way is filled with great character development, twists and turns, and a really intriguing mystery!
Abby is a witch and a ghost writer. The problems start when the things an writes into her newest book starts really happening. Are her powers going wonky? Can she find out what’s going on before someone She loves is hurt? Or worse?
Redemption.
This is a great story and one that makes me enjoy reading this author’s books again. Everyone experiences ruts, but this book is wonderfully written and was a lovely, enjoyable read. The storyline is engaging; it pulls the reader in and holds their attention all the way through. Well done!
WOW
It’s hard to describe how I feel about this story. It’s one of the best I’ve ever read. It deserves more than five stars. It was very well written with a lot of fantastic scenes & I felt a lot of excitement about what the author was revealing about the characters. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Things get really intense for Abby and she doesn’t know who she can trust. This was soooo great! I wish the next book was already written so I could keep reading about Abby, Cooper, Bessie, Gabe, and Stella! So many more things were revealed that my mind was trying to keep up…it was so much fun!
This book in not a mystery in the normal sense. No one dies. It is a mystery still because there is still a need to figure out who did what. Nice change from someone dies type mysteries. We forget not all mysteries are deaths involved.
Can you figure out who is causing the fires? I thought I had it figured out early on. However, Abby’s reasoning at one point convinced me to change my mind. Though most of the time she had me in circles. All I will say is watch out for rabbit trails.
I will never call catnip by catnip ever again. I will always use that term from here on out. Read the book to find out. Worth it just for that new name!!! Still laughing about it.
I love how Abby describes what happened and what the outcome of it was. Kudos to Abby!!!! Now if I could just learn the same lesson.
Cooper, you are just too funny. You remind me of a favorite character from another author. (I miss him terribly.)
The reason this book received four stars and not five is that I had a bit of difficulty reading it. Granted not my best days personally. However, I found myself having to reread numerous sections of the book. Yes sometimes we have tor reread a section or two, but this was a bit more than normal.
That aside, I also had problems with the references to the previous book. Now mind you that I was initially under the impression that this was book one in a new series, I did figure out it was not, about a quarter of the way through and confirmed it with author’s booklist. Usually, you can understand the references a bit, and they usually entice us to go back and get caught up. I have to admit that I struggled a bit – like it was not enough info or something was missing.
All that aside still a wonderful story. If you are into mysteries whether cozy or not, then this is a book for you. Thoroughly enjoyable, easy to read. Try it for yourself.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Witch This Way is the second book in The Holiday Hills Witch series written by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. I am loving this new series this one there is an arsonist setting fires around town and Abby must learn more about her powers to catch them. I love the characters and learning more about the town. I highly recommend.
Abby is discovering that being a witch is hard work. It’s a balancing act between the mortal world and the mystical world. She can’t make a mistake. Suddenly Abby has a supernatural stalker who wants a powerful amulet that is part of her heritage. Unfortunately she hasn’t found it yet. Can she locate it before her enemy does? Can she keep those she loves safe? Abby needs to believe in herself and her powers. I like how she faces danger along with her familiar. Cooper is a Burmese cat with attitude and a big appetite. He is always there for Abby. She needs all the help she can get. I knew that Abby could depend on the Sheriff. He’s a good guy. I wasn’t sure that he could help with her supernatural problems because he’s human. This story is fast paced and exciting. There are plenty of surprises. I’m not sure that Holiday Hills will ever be the same. Carolyn Ridder Aspenson pulled me in from the first page. Her characters are interesting and her stories are unpredictable. A great book.
Abby is happily being a ‘ghostwriter’ for another famous writer. But this last story is really bothering her. Things just are not going as per usual and it is really getting to her. Then there is the new Cheif of Police that Abby doesn’t trust. She just doesn’t know why. Then the fires start and things get weird really fast! Can Abby find the answers to all the things that are going wrong in their small town of Holiday Hills? What about her writing? The deadline is approaching fast!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Love it!!! Very original.
This fun series is shaping up to be a winner! Abby is ghost writing a book for a famous author, when the book begins writing itself. Bad things are mysteriously happening to her character, but then start happening to Abby, herself. Great writing, a fast pace, engaging characters and multiple story lines make this a great read. I’m looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Witch This Way is the second book in The Holiday Hills Witch series written by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. While I do not believe it was necessary to read the first book in the series, I do intend to go back and read the first book, There’s a New Witch in Town, to fill in a couple of gaps I feel that I may be missing. Witch This Way was a completely entertaining read with just the right amount of chuckle worthy moments.
I really appreciated getting to know Abby as a character. Her developing skill set and how she handles various situations was priceless. Having recently discovered she was a witch, with powers, proves to be challenging when discovering and reigning in these powers. And of course – life is imitating life through her books. Now that was very “interesting”.
Holiday Hills is a magical town where non-magical human beings no nothing of the magic that is surrounding them. Abby’s best friend – Stella – must know nothing of Abby’s new found magical skills. Luckily, Abby has enough magical prowess in her arsenal to “hide” her talents – though frequently this provides for the chuckle worthy moments.
Abby is a ghost writer for a series and is now basing the newest story on life. At one point, it seemed like the book was writing itself and Abby had to stop the bad stuff from actually happening. This book writing was intriguing and I found added another dimension to this cozy mystery.
There is of course a bit of romance, which I presume will simmer for a few more books in the series. I do like the slow burn of young romance.
The supernatural “bad” guys and the scenes they were in was pure delight. Again – I am not sure I have had the opportunity to laugh and be taken away by the story in this manner is quite a while.
I must leave my review here so as to not inadvertently write any spoilers in. Let me leave you with my thoughts – If you like a bit of paranormal, a bit of romance, a fair amount of chuckle worthy moments…. then this book is definitely for you!
*I would like to thank the author for supplying a free copy of this title in exchange for an honest review*
Exciting Paranormal Cozy
This is not your normal paranormal cozy. There are no crafts or foodies or even fashionistas. This is a good adventure involving magical beings and a young witch coming into her own powers. I have not yet read the first book, so I can assure you that this book stands alone just fine. This book has a great mystery plot which involves finding out who is who, magically speaking as well as what they are really looking for. It has a great ending and now I can’t wait or the next book.
Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is hands down my favorite cozy mystery writer. The only thing that makes this particular series even better is that it is a paranormal cozy. Witches and warlocks and shifters, oh my!
Abby’s book is literally writing itself and the events on the screen are happening in real life. This installment is fraught with danger and suspicion. Just when I thought I had the “who done it’ figured out the author through me a curveball.
And let’s just say a certain someone in the series isn’t who or what he or she appears to be. Can you say bombshell?
“Being a witch is complicated”
Abby Odell never knew she was a witch and since she found out her learning process has been touch and go. Spells accidentally fly, she has a smart-alecky cat for a familiar, she has to keep humans from learning about her magic, and the new book she is ghost-writing keeps wanting to write itself. Oh…and did I mention that there is an arsonist on the loose in town, just to add a little spice to life, that seems to be targeting magic people and maybe Abby in particular.
This book has good characters, humor, magic, and a solid mystery storyline. This is the first book I have read in this series and I definitely would like to read more in this Cozy series.
