Caitlyn Le Fey is looking forward to Midsummer’s Eve in the tiny English village of Tillyhenge. Celebrating the summer solstice can be fun – especially when your grandmother is a witch with an enchanted chocolate shop! But when a teenage girl is murdered and a priceless love potion goes missing, Caitlyn and her cousins are plunged into a puzzling mystery. Is the girl’s death connected to the … midnight bonfires at the ancient stone circle? What about the two strangers who recently arrived in the village? With her naughty black kitten and toothless old vampire uncle (not to mention handsome British aristocrat, Lord James Fitzroy!) all lending a helping hand, Caitlyn sets out to do some magical sleuthing.
But Midsummer’s Eve is fast approaching and spells are going disastrously wrong… can Caitlyn use her newfound witch powers to find the killer – and maybe even mend a broken heart?

I really enjoyed this story. Like all H.Y Hanna books they are a funny easy read with great characters that become like old friends the more you get into the series.
This time there is a lot more spell casting and mishaps to add to the mystery of the murder. So much so that some of the villagers are getting in on the act and casting spells.
A body of a young girl is found behind the widow Mags chocolate shop and Caitlyn fears her young cousin might be involved and then when it turns an usual plant extract is missing and only a witch can get it she has no choice but to help the police.
Pearl Hewitt is for me the voice of Caitlyn and her friends and I hope she continues to do so as she does such a great job
“Witch Summer Night’s Cream” earns 5+/5 Vials of ‘Love-in-Idleness’ Extract!
YES! I am so engaged in this series which is why I refer to it as one of my top five favorites of all time. It is H.Y. Hanna’s entertaining writing and humor that sparked my interest, but it is the strong and loyal character in Caitlyn, quirky personalities in Widow Mags and Pomona, hint of romance with the handsome Lord Fitzroy, the enigmatic Thane Blackmort, and the underlying mystery of who Caitlyn is that makes me drop everything to read, even reread. Additionally, “Witch Summer Night’s Cream” is extremely creative weaving in the premiss that a favorite classic, Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” is based on realty. That the fairies, the magic, and the love potion really do exist, and that Professor Ruskin believes Tillyhenge, the stone circle, and the forest is that place. This is not juvenile ‘hocus-pocus,’ but a realistic approach to the idea that magical creatures beyond our perception exist and are delightful, helpful, and even dangerous. The climatic ending is one that will ‘burn’ in your memory! There are several marvelous paranormal cozies that I enjoy, but this is the absolute best!

Additionally, “Witch Summer Night’s Cream” is extremely creative weaving in the premiss that a favorite classic, Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” is based on realty where the fairies, the magic, and the love potion really do exist. Pearl Hewitt is an extraordinary narrator who can transport the reader/listener into H.Y. Hanna’s world in the cotswolds. With a range of accents (I love Viktor) and British dialects and a great effort at the voices of the male characters, she presents the tone, emotion, and various personalities enriching the cozy experience. Although you can enjoy this series in print/eBook format, the audio version is outstanding!
Great series and this one is no exception
