They both want to disappear. But together, they might let themselves be found. When Samantha Abby loses her magazine job and her musician boyfriend, she says goodbye to New York, her writing career, and guys with guitars. Back home, she discovers her parents have a houseguest—ridiculously-sexy-in-Chuck-Taylors rock star Duncan Hall. She doesn’t want to share her bathroom or her family with the … or her family with the exact kind of trouble that broke her heart. Plus, Duncan is brilliant. With her writing dream in a dumpster, spending time with a beautiful guy whose creativity earns countless accolades is just salt in the wound.
Duncan should be on top of the world, but after losing his best friend to drugs, success feels like a joke. Meanwhile, his parents express their continued disdain for his music and the film he made to cope. Samantha’s step-dad, Christopher Penman, is as close as Duncan gets to a father figure, and working with him on a new record is a dream-come-true. Duncan doesn’t want to lose out on this found family by getting romantic with Samantha, but she’s not only gorgeous and smart, she sees right through to his core. Duncan and Sam find themselves no longer wishing to disappear. But do they have the courage to let themselves be found?

I almost didn’t pick up this book from Booksprout because I had not read the previous in the series, but I threw caution to wind (lol) and did it anyway. It’s been a few years since I’ve read Karen’s work but the last time I read one of her stories it blew me away so much I was stupefied for days on end over it. While I can’t say that I was stupefied this time, I was certainly delighted! Like *happy sigh* delighted! It’s a quick read and it’s perfect for those of you who have never read her work. It has all the signature traits you’d want to read in a swoony romance journey! Highly rec this for anyone!

Sam and Duncan are both at a crossroads in life when they meet. Duncan is dealing with the grief of losing his best friend and band mate to drugs, while Samantha is getting over a bad breakup and loss of a job. They both end up sharing a guest house of the home of Chris, Sam’s stepdad and Duncan’s mentor. This was a beautiful story of redemption and was a sweet rockstar romance.
Entertaining and interesting characters. Good story with some secrets and drama. Good read following the journey to love and romance with a few bumps thrown in for good measure. Good read.

I have really enjoyed reading this book. The author did such a great job developing the characters that I feel like I really know them, not just the major characters, but the minor ones too.
Also, it caused me to lose sleep because I didn’t want to wait another day to read it!

This is the story of Samantha and Duncan. She’s quit her job and her cheating musician boyfriend. Now she’s headed home to North Carolina to figure out what to do next with her life. To her surprise they have a guest staying out the house and it’s famous rock star Duncan. He’s at his own crossroads and working with Sam’s step dad Chris on a new album. When Sam and Duncan meet there’s an immediate attraction but neither one acts on it. What happens when these two lost souls finds a connection that they can’t ignore? I enjoyed this sweet romance. I love short stories and novellas and this one hit the right spot. Sam and Duncan find each other at a time where they are both sort of lost. Their attraction is immediately but it goes beyond the physical. The story is sweet, sexy and perfect for a nice relaxing time.
If you’ve read Forever bk 1 & 2 you’ll be familiar with Sam, who’s Chris’s step daughter. In this book she returns home finds Chris has a fellow rockstar Duncan recording at his studio as well as staying at his home.
There is instant chemistry with this couple but both are reluctant to take it further due to their pasts. Duncan especially has some major demons to deal with. It’s not a long tale & while this couple as a HFN I’m hoping to hear more from them. It is also quite an inspirational story as they also help the other heal.
