Great Christmas read. Love Wally Lamb. Can’t go wrong with any of his books
A quick read. Very enjoyable. Laugh out loud moments. Would recommend!
An innocent coming of age story set in a 1960s parochial school culminating with the annual Christmas pageant. Just the right amount of hilarity and irreverance mixed in with some lovely surprises. Take a break from your holiday stress and grab this book…A joyful holiday read!
Love everything Wally Lamb
Amusing and whimsical light reading.
It’s really more of a children’s book. It’s interesting but not something I would recommend to others. I would rate it with three stars.
Great writing as always from Wally Lamb
Not my taste. Could not maintain interest…gave up partway into the second chapter.
I LOVED IT. I like Wally Lamb a lot. I love books about kids that were set in
the time period I was a child. Even though I lived in a small town and went to public school I can definitely relate to it.
Typical Lamb…just great!
Set in 1964, told from the point of view of, Felix, a 5th grade boy inn Parochial school. It has the same charm as A Christmas Story.
The somewhat slow build as you learn these characters is definitely worth it. The laugh out loud Christmas story is great.
This book is a must-read for anyone who has endured the indignities of attending a parochial grade school. You’ve got the tattletale, the bully, the chubby girl, the strict teachers, and the main character, whose naivete is refreshingly honest and the source of much embarrassment; in short, a tasty helping of grade school “angst.” The Nativity …
A laugh-out loud delightful book that presents a young boy who is enduring a year in Catholic school with nuns, friends, family, and a famous cousin, Annette Funicello! Felix is a hoot, a very sheltered young man, which makes some of the things he experiences even funnier. I listened to the audiobook version and enjoyed it very much. You will …
I found this book absolutely laugh out loud funny. 5th grade boys in a Christmas pageant is perfect material. I enjoyed reading a lighter side to Wally Lamb.
Great story within the Christmas season. I laughed a lot when reading the story. The characters made up much of the humor, but you can tell this is a very loving family.
Not as funny as I had thought it would be, but amusing enough. It was easier to read than his other work, but not as interesting or deep.
A wild ride!
His first two books were brilliant. Those that followed have been awful, this book included. Very disappointing.
My only complaint is: I wish it were longer.
