Kayla’s Chick Rant & Book Blog
Blog Post: 1/17/15
My name is Kayla and I’m a blogger who believes in fairy tales. Through the anonymity of my blog, along with my reviews of the steamy novels I like to read, I tell the stories of my own search for love. No matter how disastrous they turn out—and believe me, you will ask yourself ‘Did that really happen?’—I never gave up, knowing my soul mate … soul mate was out there somewhere.
When my big brother invited me to move to Houston for a semester of college, I jumped at the opportunity to leave my small hometown to see what it was like to live in a big city. Having no friends and not knowing where to go, I met a guy online and met up with him that night. Because…YOLO, right?
Turns out, he was an okay guy. Not ‘The One’, but still, a good enough guy to spend time with. But then, he introduced me to his best friend Jason, and my world tilted on its axis. The dark, tough, tatted-up guy, who was too broody for his own good, captivated me.
But he made it perfectly clear, I wasn’t his type.
IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
The Blogger Diaries Trilogy is the true story of how I met, fell for, lost, and got a
second chance at love with my soul mate. The names of everyone EXCEPT me, Jason, my family, and my best friend have been changed to protect their identities. Full of youthful stupidity, leading to bad decisions and lots of angst, it is a real life story, where inevitably things are messy.
No one can look back at their late teens and early twenties and not think of moments that make them ask, What the hell was I thinking? Every second of this trilogy is true, exactly as it happened.
The first book, ‘Wished For You’, is a tale of finding ‘the one’ too early, and then having to let them go.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a true trilogy, meaning the first two books END ON CLIFFHANGERS. But if you take the journey with me, in the end, I promise you a happily ever after you will never forget.
I know I won’t.

I discovered Kayla on TikTok and after numerous videos(which make me laugh most of the time) and how she said she wrote a trilogy about her own life I’ve finally jumped into her world. I felt many of the emotions she was feeling as I kept reading. This story really laid her soul bare. I hated the cliffhanger because I felt her pain. I look forward to reading the next book. Takes a lot of bravery to write your own love story with all the good, bad and ugly. Very well done.
BOOK REVIEW 4.75 Stars. I started reading this late last night and I quickly became a tiny bit obsessed with it. It’s a true story. Of how a book blogger “met, fell for, lost and got a second chance at love with (their) soulmate”. This was so good. It spoke to my terrified of horses, Virgo soul and gripped it all the way to the end. It was beauty, grace and it sure did punch me in the face. Now I need to buy the next two in the series because I’ll be good and gosh darned if I don’t see how this plays out. (Even though I know because this is the author’s real life story but let me have this) For this being her first book it was so engaging and I couldn’t get enough. If I wasn’t obsessed with her before…she’s gone and done it now.
After reading the Club Alias series, I had to come back and read this. Warning: cliffhanger. On to book 2! 4 stars
Holy hell!! For this being KD Robichaux’s debut book I’m blown away by all the feelings I had reading it. This whole trilogy is actually based on Robichaux’s relationship with her husband.
KD’s storytelling makes you feel as though your besties sitting around sharing a bottle of wine, as she tells you her and Jason’s story. You get so engrossed in what she’s telling you that you forget your glass and can actually picture everything, vividly.
I have to say when I read her prologue I was shocked to read this was her true story. KD lays it out there, leaving very little to the imagination. And I loved it!! I’m a very blunt and straightforward type of person, so it was right up my alley.
I so don’t want to give all of the story away because I could not do it justice. You truly have to read and experience all the feels for yourself. KD Robichaux brings her A game to the literary world. She holds nothing back as she talks about her life, the lack of the big O, and finally having her first one ever. I love how she lays it all out there, putting her real life romance out there for the masses to judge.
I felt her boredom, her excitement, my heart beat faster when Jason would enter a room! And my heart broke in the last chapter. I truly wasn’t expecting that to happen. Now I have to kiss my hubby and promise fun things so I can go buy Book 2, Wish He Was You.
The only thing that has helped my poor heart is knowing that my girl Kayla gets her HEA, because if that didn’t happen I would be making a trip down to Texas to kick some tail.
So ladies pull up a chair, get a glass of wine, get cozy, and dive in. You will be glad you did. Just remember no breaking the glass during the last chapter. You can’t shank someone when it eventually turns out the way the way it was meant to be.
I like the concept of this book, a blogger turn author, her true story of how she found her soulmate.
The beginning to me was a lot of rambling I almost lost interested, I know some readers are going to have issues with her sleeping around but when you’re young haven’t you done anything for the soul purpose of just having fun, you know before life becomes serious and you have to adult?
Some will want to relate to the female character but unfortunately, she can only go by how it happened, being a true story and all. If she was writing a story that wasn’t her own then she would be able to write some BS nicer story. So I’m okay with that considering I know this is a true story, you can only account for what actually happened.
I think she’s very brave and ballsy for putting her story out. I can’t say I liked it but I didn’t hate it. I’m not sure if I’m interested in the rest of the series but I’m happy that she got her HEA.
