The stars align with this fun and humorous Christmas novella! Do opposites attract? Well yes they do! Is it an easy journey to love? Well it can be challenging, but with Christoper, who is seeking a wife, thinks he will find the “perfect” woman for him and fall in love. With the help of Miss Gloria Godwin, matchmaker, there seems to be no doubt she will find that lady. But as the two spend time together, what could possibly happen? Christopher loves to travel and be orderly while Gloria is the exact opposite! She tends to break the rules and wants to stay close to home. But wait, isn’t she the matchmaker for him, and not the intended?
A regency romp that will delight you as the humor comes off the pages and these two opposites pull together!!
I love this story, the third book in the “12 Dukes of Christmas” series and it could read as stand alone.
An enjoyable romance set up in a village where every day is Christmas.
A man in search of future bride that will love adventures and voyages, a woman that love stories from books. Will they found love?
A book for all!
Erica Ridley’s Wish Upon a Duke is another entertaining read in her delightful series 12 Dukes of Christmas. This is the third in the series. I have greatly enjoyed reading all three stories which are set in the village of Cressmouth, where Christmas is celebrated all year round.
Christopher, the younger brother of Nick, featured in Kiss of a Duke, is desirous of finding a wife who will fit his needs. Someone who loves to travel and will enjoy the types of adventures and the life he has been living. Penelope, who is soon to marry Chris’s brother Nick, suggests he use a matchmaker to help find the right type of woman to marry. She recommends he hire her friend Gloria. For one reason or another, Christopher ends up not satisfied with any of the choices he is given. There is an ongoing flirtation between Christopher and Gloria, but both realize they would have to make compromises if they were to carry their relationship further. Neither seems willing to do that.
This story as were the first two in the series has an enjoyable plot, is full of wit, humor, eccentric characters, and a sweet growing romance between Christopher and Gloria. I loved reading this delightful story.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the author and offer this voluntary and unbiased review of what I read.
This is Erica Ridley 3rd book in her series 12 Dukes of Christmas, you do not have to read the previous books in this series before reading this book but I would recommend it just to enjoy them all!!
This book is about Christopher and Gloria and their love story. They both want to find love, but they each have different requirements they want/need in a relationship. Christopher and Gloria are both lovable.
I cannot wait for book 4…who will it be about?
Without question Ridley is one of my “go-to” authors. If she comes out with a book, I’m on it like a duck on a June bug. “Wish Upon a Duke” is a delightful Christmas novella. Mr. Christopher Pringle is seeking a wife and not just any wife but a love match. Miss Gloria Godwin is tasked to be his matchmaker – helping him find the perfect woman in the little town of Cressmouth “Christmas”, England. What she doesn’t count on is falling for Mr Pringle herself. “Dark brown hair. Snowy white neckcloth. Black superfine coat cut to accentuate broad shoulders. Gorgeous buckskins that clung to the muscles of his legs. Gleaming Hessians. Adonis, come to life?” But what if their orbits collide and instead of fitting perfectly together?
I read this in one afternoon. I couldn’t put it down. I was gifted a copy of this book.
Wish Upon a Duke (12 Dukes of Christmas, #3) by Erica Ridley…. Another great one… Thanks to Erica and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. This story is about Christopher Pringle(Nick’s brother) and Gloria Goodwin(Penelope’s friend). They both love the stars and travel..he does it and she only reads about it. This story has all the feels, laughter, some tears, steamy sex and a very HEA. I’m loving this series.
Christopher decides to marry and take his bride with him on his next trip – within 4 weeks. He’s encouraged to seek the help of a matchmaker, Gloria, who introduces her to some friends.
Gloria would like to find a husband, but she does not want to leave Cressmouth. She has a fear of water – even the local pond – as her Navy captain father was lost at sea.
These seemingly opposite characters discover they have some interests in common. But their differences regarding travel seem to doom any possible future.
Cute, light-hearted story.
I read an advance copy and voluntarily post my review.
I was not sure about a series of books about a town dedicated to Christmas but after three books I am a believer. These stories are great and really keep the spirit of Christmas with you. Christopher and Gloria are total opposites when it comes to reading and following through with your dreams and whether it is better to be noticed or not. Theirs is a slow burn romance but when it happens it combusts. The epilogues are great!!!
I received a complimentary copy from the author through NetGalley.
I love this series. Each book seems better than the last. The hero/heroine seemed to have an impossible road to HEA, but of course it worked out. This is Christmas town after all. Great series and i look forward to Virginia’s story next. She has been an enjoyable and intriqing character from the first book. I recommend this book to everyone.
I received this book as an ARC from the author, opinion is my own.
“Wish Upon a Duke” by Erica Ridley
I loved this story… I laughed and I cried, a regular watering-pot that was me. I cannot define why some points were so emotional for me.. but they were and they just added that much more enjoyment to the read. I was gifted an ARC of the story by the author. I truly did enjoy this read and I am looking forward to more stories set in the village of Christmas. Wishing you Happy Reading !
These stories are so much fun. Christopher and Gloria are considered to be totally opposites, but like a magnet to metal, they attract each other. They begin a fun flirtation in misadventures which lead to real life adventures in the wedded state. The author never seems to run out of funny and absurd quips to give the characters in Christmas to speak. It is all part of what makes this series so unique.
I enjoyed this so much!
Ahhhh! I just love the light-hearted wittiness that is going on in this story while these two special people fall in love.
This book is about compromises and how when there is love involved, it seems easier to make those vital compromises.
The story is great and fast-paced. This is definitely a page-turner that I was unable to put down.
I read an Advance Reader’s Copy and the review above is voluntary and my unbiased opinion.
