Wish Upon a Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes was for me a okay read, and that was at times, a little all over the place.
My first read by this author, I was pulled in by the beautiful cover and intriguing synopsis. I have to say, I’m mixed about this book. So let’s just jumped into it, shall we.
First things first, I like drama, who doesn’t. But this book, has, for me, just as many good dramatic moments as it did, not so good dramatic moments. There is one major thing I have to say, the constant fighting, the constant unrealistic way that Soumya handle the situation from the start, was, for me, baffling. I have read books like this before, and frankly, this one was a little rough around the edges and to be bluntly honest, for a short read, I had a time fully getting into this book. Most of that I believe was actually, Soumya’s doing. I didn’t really like her, and as much as she grew on me, it wasn’t enough to carry the story, and fully bring out its’ full potential. Vir, as much as I hate to say this, was the star of this book. I found that he had the most character development, and growth, even with his jerkish moments.
Now as I said, things weren’t all bad. This book got some pretty good zingers, and the one thing I did like about Soumya was the way she stood up for herself. Strong and defiant. I loved the cultural background and I learn a lot. You can tell the author loves writing about her culture, through the care and detail that was constantly present in this book. The timeline was steady, and when I was fully engaged, I enjoyed myself, and at times was smiling and rolling my eyes at their antics. I would have like this book to have had more than one narrator, mainly Vir, since it was third person, that could have been easily done. I feel like that added POV switch would have added a much needed layer, and understanding to their unique situation.
Overall I did enjoy this book, even with my mixed feelings. But reading is subjective so please take my recommendation that just because I found some things that didn’t work, doesn’t mean it won’t for you. Give this book a chance, cause you never know.
Happy Reading.

Wish Upon a Bollywood Star
By Pamela Q. Fernandes
I enjoyed reading this story. I have read books by this author before and I really enjoyed her work and writing style so I had high hopes about this one. I’m glad that I wasn’t disappointed, this story was very entertaining and the characters were very passionate in their own way. Soumya is a very strong character and her emotions tend to get her into trouble at times. The banter between her and Vir was fun and frustrating all at the same time. This was a very quick read as I read it in one sitting. This author is very good at making you feel like your there with her attention to detail. I recommend this book.

Four Stars
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star is a short, fast paced romance by Pamela Q. Fernandes. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I have to say I really enjoy her writing technique. The way she describes Bollywood makes me feel like I’m really there. The story between Vir Seth and Soumya Ninan is intense and intriguing because even though they deny an attraction you can feel it bubbling beneath the surface. I love learning about different cultures and this book really delves in. I also liked the way the book flowed and smooth reading experience. I would recommend this romance to everyone and look forward to reading more books from Ms. Fernandes.
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star was a fun 4 star read.
Soumya is excited to meet hot Bollywood Actor, Vir Seth. However she happens to overhear a conversation that he was involved in relating to how he feels about women and what their good for. This infuriates Soumya and she decides to do something to get him back.
Oh no, Soumya, you started this mess and you can damn well see it through to the bitter end. – Vir
When Vir Seth shows up at her workplace demanding she come to her boss’s office she doesn’t know what to expect. If she loses her job it was worth it. Lets just say there is a unexpected twist that she didn’t see coming, now the tables have turned.
You’re mine and before long, you’ll come to understand that. – Vir
Soumya was determined to reject Vir’s advances, however the more time they spent together her feelings were building. Does he feel the same way or is she fooling herself? How can she compete with all the beautiful women he’s used to?
I really liked Soumya and her strength in standing up for herself, she was a great strong character. Vir grew on me, at first I thought he was an arrogant man who was hung up on himself. I really enjoyed their story. The author pulls you right in with her writing and you won’t want to stop until your done, I had to see how it ended.

I love finding new author. This is the first book by this author I have read and I was not disappointed. I found the writing style to be refreshing. The book grabbed my attention from the first page and held onto it.
The whole drama surrounding Soumya and Vir is quite electric and that adds to the chemistry between them. I was very impressed that this wasn’t an easy love story but more a complex one. It made this book more realistic and enjoyable. I will definitely be reading this book over and over again. I also would like to read more from this author in the future.
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star is a book by Pamela Q Fernandes that plays like Bollywood movie. I grew up with Bollywood movies back in Soviet Union so I could simply close my eyes and picture it all in my head … the head moves and hand gestures and at times I could hear the music in the background! I had read Painting Kuwait Violet before and absolutely fell in love with Pamela’s writing – she is amazing with her words – they paint a picture and you get inside of a foreign culture without leaving your armchair. I have to say though that Painting Kuwait Violet left such a powerful impression on me that Wish Upon a Bollywood Star had to work hard!
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star is the story of a Bollywood playboy Vir Seth and a PR assistant Soumya Ninan who he manages to anger to the extent that she goes for a revenge that seems to backfire or so you think … the writer gives us a whirlwind engagement that gets out of control and in the end it is no longer a game! Come along on the journey through Hindu traditions and Bollywood lights and see how the game ends!

This was such an enjoyable read. I have to say I really loved the cover, it’s really unusual. I have read books by this author before and know she has a really nice writing style so I was looking forward to reading her new release. I loved the setting and storyline for this story and have to admit it’s the first of its kind that I have read – I have read stories with characters from different ethnicities before but this is the first Bollywood story that I have read and it was really good. The author’s use of descriptive language enabled me to get that beautiful, colourful vividness in my imagination that I know Bollywood is famous for. I loved reading Vir and Soumya’s story; I loved the connection they had even if they did deny it! The author’s attention to detail meant that the story flowed really well and I read it in one sitting. I would absolutely recommend this book – it is a very entertaining read that will keep your interest throughout.
Wish Upon A Bollywood Star by Pamela Q Fernandes was a fun quick read. I don’t know much about Bollywood but the cover was Intriguing and once I read the summary I wanted to find out what happened. From the beginning the author had me sucked in. I enjoyed the characters and the story. I would definitely read others by this author and definitely want to find out what happens. This is a new author for me and it always pleases me to find authors I’d read other books by. Overall I enjoyed it and can’t wait to find out what happens next! 4 star rating!
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes is one surprising read. I wasn’t too keen to take up this book but once I started I must admit I really enjoyed it. It is a very original story that is interesting and engaging and did make me laugh but I did want to smack both the main characters at times, because if they both just sat down and talked so much could be avoided but hey that’s why stories are written. The story is fast paced and drama filled but kept you glued to the pages to find out how it all ends.
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a quirky, entertaining little romance that was totally unexpected. I had no idea what to expect going into this story, and while at times it was extremely frustrating, it shocked me a little just how much I enjoyed it.
This story was not written in a clinical way. It was written in a highly emotional context. Both main characters were highly driven, highly strung, and highly likeable. Engagement between these two was hilarious and never, ever boring or stilted. Always sexually aggressive were they. Without them even knowing it. The constant battles were riveting and courageous. I love going into a story not knowing what to expect, then having my mind blissfully blown. Tentatively on the edge of my seat witnessing the drama that was endless between Vir and Soumya, it was a pleasure to read of romance in a country that fascinates me. Different world location, same dance to love. No matter where you reside, the dance is always the same. And that is what makes these types of stories unforgettable. 5 stars.
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star By Pamela Q Fernandes. While this is a book outside my normal reading taste it still had me very engaged. The storyline is fun and while a bit shorter it never felt rushed or lacking anything in my opinion. The characters are complex and believable with a plot that interesting and fun to read. Watching the go between with Soumya and Vir Seth is fun and engaging. This author is still pretty new to me but again I wasn’t disappointed and I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. I’m giving this book a four star review and recommend it to anyone.
‘Wish Upon a Bollywood Star’ is definitely outside of my typical reading box, but with 2019 approaching I was determined to broaden my horizons as a goal this year and find some new jewels in the process. I had read Pamela Q. Fernandes’s ‘Painting Kuwait Violet’ last year and enjoyed it so when the cover of this one caught my eye I decided to go in blind and give it a shot, and I am glad that I did. There were a few moments where I had to remind myself that I was reading about another culture because this did touch several nerves for me on the topic of verbal and manipulative abuse, or what I would consider it, towards women. In the end I see where this made sense for the role of the character and how it worked out. For me it just was a bit much and could have been toned down a tad still so that is why I knocked a star off. Otherwise the reset of the book was fun and entertaining and kept me on my toes wondering how this twisty love story would end up.
Wish Upon a Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes tells the unlikely romance of Soumya Ninan and Vir Seth. Bollywood actor Vir Seth has made a public declaration that he will never be tied down to a crazy woman. What happens when Soumya tells everyone that he is engaged and it is to her?
The two have sparks and attraction but might be too stubborn to see what they have. I enjoyed the two main characters and the cultural background. The story was clever and fun. I enjoyed that this was a different setting than many books but with a familiar story. This is the first book I have read by Fernandes and will be looking for more from this author.
3.5 stars
This story is a quick, clean romance – drama. It is full of angst, misunderstanding, childhood fantasy and revenge.
The female and male protagonist were each portrayed as being kind to others and nasty to each other. I did not care for either one very much I’m afraid to say more about the story because I don’t want to give anything away.
A few things that I really enjoyed about the story was having a glimpse into a family that is different from mine. It’s always fun to see family dynamics that include love and acceptance. The pacing was steady and the change from scene to scene was seamless.
While this particular story wasn’t for me, I would read the author again in the future.
Wish Upon A Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes is an entertaining and fun read that all be sure to get you laughing.
This is a new author to me and I am so glad I have now discovered her writing. The characters in this book were brilliant. They were funny to read about, their antics hilarious and their chemistry was palpable.
I found this to be a quick and easy read because it was so easy to get into the story and invested in the characters. Now that I have discovered her work I can’t wait to read more by this author.

This was my second book by this author and I sincerely enjoyed it. For some reason it turned out to be totally different than I thought it would and this pleased me. It was actually a fun read and I enjoyed the bantering back and forth between Vir and Soumya, and I especially liked the storyline..It was different and refreshing.
This author won me over in my first read and this one just strengthened that…I love the style of writing and how easy her stories are to read. I can not wait to read more and will be checking out whatever else she has available and whatever else becomes available.
I highly recommend this story!
(I can’t forget to mention that the cover is absolutely beautiful)

Wish Upon A Bollywood Star by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a Bollywood romance with secrets, drama, some humour, and lots of cultural details.
Vir Seth finds himself in quite the predicament when Soumya Ninan decides to teach him a lesson about his attitude towards women and marriage. Vir’s world will be upended, battlelines will be drawn, while feelings become involved. What happens you ask? Well, you really need to read the book to discover all the details for yourself- no spoilers from me.
This is a very short, quick and easy read. I liked Soumya, but I really found it hard to connect to Vir, or get invested in their story. I think this is because we really don’t get too ‘know’ him all that well. We get Soumya’s perspective throughout the story, but don’t get to understand things from his point of view, which would have perhaps made him more relatable.
I wonder what Ms. Fernandes has in store for us next?
Thank you, Ms. Fernandes!
Wish Upon A Bollywood Star by Pamela Q Fernandes. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I loved it. She teaches you so much about other cultures in her books in a fun way. This is the story of Vir Setha a Bollywood actor who swears he will never get married or be trapped by a crazy woman. Enter Soumya Ninan who lives to drive him crazy as she proceeds to tell all the newspapers Vir is engaged. Who in the world could he be engaged to but Soumya herself! As they fight about this pretend engagement they actually realize there might be feelings there. Its a fun, romance who has 2 very stubborn characters. Read Wish Upon A Bollywood Star to see how it turns out!

This is filled with drama, anger and secrets. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it because I stayed up late reading. I would have loved seeing some chapters from Virs POV. He was always so angry and irritated. It maybe would have helped me understand and sympathize with his character. Instead I don’t like him very much. Wait…hold that thought..he is a possessive alpha guy so of course I like him! Hold on! I did add very much…so that’s true. He has that star quality package down pat. Me, me, me!
I did love his family! So as minor characters they were delightful to read. A few others were not so nice or had unexplained actions.
The ending also felt rushed. I think Virs POV throughout the story would have helped that as well. Or even an epilogue to balance out the relationship. I read this fairly quickly so I did enjoy it.

A quick read that was very interesting. I don’t know much about the culture but I really enjoy it. Soumya was too stubborn for me. She assumed way to much. Vir didn’t make it any better. Overall the story held my interest because of its uniqueness. This is my first story by this author and I will be picking up another. Every page was filled with something different. The characters weren’t all the way there but they have potential. I wish the attire was detailed more because it was hard to picture it especially since it’s not something I’m familiar with.
