I could not put it down, this book is amazing I loved it. Ginnie is a strong and independent character and Mr. Wish is mysterious. The characters are quirky and hilarious I loved the storyline with all the exciting plot twist.
Wish is a stand alone romance by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. If you are a fan of Mimi’s, as I am, you might raise an eyebrow when I say stand alone! But this one really is, and it is amazing. Mimi Jean has once again created a story where you just aren’t sure what is going on, how to explain things. It kind of reminds me of how I felt when I first read her book, Fate Book, which I also deeply loved.
Ginnie Angelico is an artist. She creates beautiful art from repurposed broken glass. And now more than ever, she needs to keep making her art and sell it. Because she needs the money. Her boyfriend took her money, then cheated on her, leaving her with a mortgage she couldn’t afford and no money. Her heart was broken, her trust destroyed.
It’s on one of her glass finding missions that she finds the most beautiful bottle she’s ever seen. Only to discover that inside is a message, telling her she will be granted one wish. But Ginnie is a believer that you don’t take what you haven’t earned. You don’t take charity. But then, a mysterious, beautiful man starts showing up. A man whose eyes pierce right through her. A man who demands that she make her wish, so he can grant it.
“With one look, this man has the power to make me feel like a goddess.”
Ginnie doesn’t want to feel anything for this man but her body disagrees. The more she gets to know him, the more intriguing he is. There are so many secrets, things she needs to figure out.
“Standing here now, staring at his tall, well built frame, I feel so much more than lust. It’s a tingle in my stomach. It’s an ache in my heart.”
In true Mimi Jean fashion, she keeps us guessing. Is he a true magical genie that can grant wishes? Of one thing Ginnie is sure, is that no matter what he is, her heart wants him. But is it a risk she can truly take, a risk that her heart will get broken again?
I loved this book and could not stop reading. I had to know what was happening. This is one of those books that as soon as I saw the cover, I knew I had to read it, even before I read the synopsis. And I am so glad I did. You definitely need to put this on your must read list. At the end, Mimi says she is going back to her OHellNo series and is working on book six, Wine Hard, Baby. I can’t wait!
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I didn’t know what to expect. I really liked the story line and thought that it was written fabulously and the title was great.
Ginnie has been going through a really crappy time lately and she just wants to get her life back on track. Her ex fiance has cheated on her and left her with quite abit of debt. Ginnie is quite self sufficient and hates accepting charity from anyone. Ginnie makes art , glass mosaics after her grandmother shown her how. One day while in a second hand store finds an unusually beautiful bottle. All Marcus ‘ Mr Wish ‘ wants to do is help people so why is Ginnie being so difficult ?
On the other hand who wouldn’t love a real life genie ? Ginnie is not so sure.
( NO SPOILERS ).
This book is not what I expected but it in a good way. It will keep you guessing all the way through and I loved the twists that the author threw in. When you think you know what would happen, you won’t. I absolutely loved the characters. They have a very strong connection between them both from the beginning and I enjoyed seeing how this story plays out.
If I could wish for one thing, what would you wish for ? This book is a beautifully written a real romance novel.
Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This book is out now.
I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of Genies or Djinn and I think it started with Aladdin or maybe even the cheesy old Larry Hagman tv show from the sixties. Whatever it was its something that I seldom see in books recently so I was very intrigued by this story. Its truly a tale that had me second guessing myself as the author takes her readers on a journey that isn’t exactly straightforward. Is Marus really a magical Genie because there’s no denying he’s connected to a fabulous glass bottle ? I adored that Ginnie ( yes I see what the author has done with her name ! ) was hard wired not to accept charity so getting her to accept an amazing gift of a Wish was never going to be a slam dunk . This is a romance although I didn’t find Ginnies instant almost obsession that convincing but I do applaud that the couple took their time to get to the very steamy scenes. So is this another fun and sexy paranormal story or perhaps something completely different ? To find out you really need to read this quick, imaginative story.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I always get a weird little thrill when a book takes place near where I live. A little voice in my head proudly says “yeah! I know where that is!” This newest Pamfiloff gem takes place partially in Albany, NY, and it surprises on so many levels.
We meet strong and independent Ginnie, who comes across a special bottle. With this special bottle comes a special man dedicated,. So how does a selfless entrepreneur choose one wish that supposed to give her a dream come true? It’s not as easy as it sounds.
We also meet the strange and magnanimous Mr. Wish, and Ginnie is intrigued enough to find out more about him. Talk about going down the rabbit hole! Pamfiloff does her signature twist, and yet again, when you think she’s going to zig…she zags. The story suddenly turns into a mix of riveting betrayal and commentary on greed.
It’s laugh out loud funny in parts, gloriously romantic in others, and gleefully satisfying in the rest. We learn Mr. Wish’s backstory, which is extremely interesting. I’m crazy about the chemistry between Mr. Wish & Ginnie, and my favorite scenes were between Olivia & Ginnie trying to decide how to understand Mr. Wish. My favorite line is from Olivia:
“Love is the most selfless act there is, Ginnie. ”
This story is so delightful to read that I devoured it in one sitting. We all need a feel good story that reminds us that love’s serendipity can be a marvelous respite from the anger of the world. But Pamfiloff shows us that love is not easy to achieve. Sometimes you need fate, luck and a little magic
If you were to find a bottle and it had a paper in it that said you get one wish what would it be?
That is what happened to Ginnie and she did what no one ever had she wished for Mr. Wish , to get to know him and what she finds out is shocking and the love she finds is so strong, then reality strikes and Mr.Wish aka Mason remembers his past and pushes Ginnie away months later he comes back to try to win her back
I love reading Mimi’s books. You never know what to expect. You can guarantee humor and quirkiness, but as the direction of the plot will take is always a mystery. Go ahead and try to predict what will happen next or how the story will end, you will be wrong every time! Wish is a wonderfully creative mystical, yet realistic story. I devoured this book in less than a day. I could not put it down. I had to know what would happen next and it was never anything that I expected. This is an inspirational swirl of words that take you on a ride of upmost importance. Not only are you entertained, but you become immersed in a way of thinking that can change your outlook on life.

What can I say about this book other than I loved it! Cleverly written, WISH is full of intrigue, mystery, humor, and romance. This author never fails to weave a story that is fun and unique, and this book checks all of those boxes. This review will be short and vague because I don’t want to give anything away. Just know that Ginnie is a strong, likable character who is fiercely independent, but having endured a horrible breakup, she questions her intuition when it comes to reading men. Mr. Wish is alluring, mysterious, and exciting. The journey that Ginnie embarks on as she is granted a wish is wildly entertaining and then there was the fun plot twist. As always, this book left me with a smile on my face and I am anxiously awaiting for the author’s next release!
Mimi may not be known for her standalone books but Wish is one of them. It took me a while to get into but once I did, I was hooked. I loved reading this and I can’t wait to read more.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Once in a while a book comes along that completely takes hold of you. Wish is one of those books. The chemistry between the characters is organically hot and floods you with all the feels. One thing I have always enjoyed about Mimi Jean’s books, aside from unpredictability, is the messages she conveys within them. The meaning Wish hit me in the chest. I loved it!
Another great book by this author. I highly recommend this.
I really enjoyed this book. It was so very different from anything I have read before. A little bit of a fantasy feel, without being a fantasy read, which makes Wish stand out from the crowd of romance books available. Wish had me gushing, guessing and giggling from start to finish.
The leading lady in Wish has her hands full with her hot mess of a genie, Marcus. It all starts with a beautiful, mysterious glass bottle. Ginnie, an artist who creates glass mosaic, is drawn to the beauty of the bottle at a yard sale. A series of encounters with a handsome stranger has her questioning the existence of “a genie in a bottle”. What ensues is wacky, yet a heartfelt journey of self-discovery and love.
I felt the pace of Wish was perfect, as were the characters. I especially enjoyed the slow reveal of Marcus’ story, the depth of his character was pieced together over time.
A quirky read that had twists throughout. Just when I thought I knew all the answers, it turned out I really didn’t! This unpredictability makes Wish a five star read.
Wish by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff was not a premise that I’ve read before. It is described by the author as contemporary romance. However, I found myself wondering throughout the first half of the book whether or not this could be Paranormal/fantasy. The author entertained me and kept me guessing because while this book is definitely of the contemporary genre, there are magical and whimsical elements throughout the pages. I found myself trying to unravel the mystery that is the hero, Marus. The reveal is slow and steady. And during all the information brought forth to me, I still wondered, “Is this guy for real?” I would definitely admit the author kept me engaged.
I thought this book was imaginative and fun, until it wasn’t. That said, there are some dark moments that come to light during the last chapters and because of that Marus became someone I didn’t like. Don’t worry, he does redeem himself and there is a beautiful happy ending. But I’m afraid to say, even with that ending, I couldn’t forget Marus’ actions or the hurtful words he spoke to Ginnie. I’m sorry to say, it bothered me a lot. In addition, another element of the book I was disappointed with was the lapse of time between the “incident” and the reconciliation. Hey, that’s just my personal opinion and you may very likely not feel the same. Mimi Jean is a great story teller and I read several of her books prior to Wish which I enjoyed very much. Just because this book hit a bump for me doesn’t mean I hated it. I did enjoy it right up to almost the end. And as this is a fun and original premise, I recommend it. And as I mentioned, there were only a couple of aspects that disappointed me, personally. You might be fine with them.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
In a world of interconnected standalones, never ending series, and spin-offs, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff gives us Wish – a complete stand alone. Ginnie is struggling financially after a heartbreaking betrayal. She has lost faith in love. Then, she finds a bottle. Enter Mr. Wish. He is willing to grant her one wish, with rules. What does a selfless person wish for when the rules say her wish must be for herself?
This was a quick and overall light read for me but it is not fluffy, rainbow farting unicorns. There is mystery, intrigue, deception, betrayal and of course – the Mimi plot twist. There is laughter, love, romance, heartache, steam and “Oh, no she didn’t!” The pacing was excellent. Nothing felt rushed and nothing dragged. Ginnie was likable and relatable while Mr. Wish was deliciously mysterious and just a little broken. In short, I loved it.
***Bonus points for having a ginger hero! I have read well over 1,000 books in the past 5 years and only THREE have featured red-headed men. Yes, some of us really do love ginger men (and women).

4.5 stars
Wish definitely went in a way I wasn’t expecting. Ginnie finds a bottle while thrifting, and inside this bottle is a note instructing her to make a wish.
As it turns out, this wish has a lot more rules and stipulations from her “genie,” Mr. Wish. Anything more about the plot and I’ll be spoiling it for you. Wish is what Mimi Jean Pamfiloff does best – keep you guessing what will happen next.
Funny and sweet, while also sad and intriguing, Wish is a great new addition to Mimi Jean’s repertoire.
I love these fantasy, steamy romance books. So what happens when you find a bottle with a note inside that says to make a wish? Do you go for it or do you think it’s a joke? In Ginnie’s case, she goes for it. What happens next is not what she’s expecting. So good. You need to read this book to find out what happens next.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this and as soon it landed on my kindle, I devoured it! I did not know what to expect in this book and I was constantly surprised. It was quite a shocker to me.
Ginnie having recently been swindled by her ex is primarily focusing on her art and making enough money to pay the bills. To her utter surprise–or horror–a glass bottle keeps on popping up together with a handsome stranger making demands of her. No matter how many times she tries to get rid of both, they never go away. The only way out of this is for her to make a wish.
Ridiculous–she knows–but what a girl gotta do? Only Ginnie does not wish for anything at the moment. She has everything she needs and if she doesn’t then she will work hard to get it. But the Genie that accompanies the bottle demands her to make a wish. She has something in mind when she looks at this gorgeous stranger but it’s something she cannot voice out loud. If only he can help a girl out…
Ginnie was quite admirable. She is a selfless independent woman who works hard and tries to spread joy around her. She has been hurt in the past and has trust issues when it comes to men, but that doesn’t stop her from taking a risk and giving her heart away. I loved how she always spoke her mind in this book and it had me cracking up on occasions. I did not expect the twist in this book and I was utterly heartbroken. I cried because I was furious and felt my heart breaking together with Ginnies. I hated it.
Either than that, I enjoyed the book, immensely. This book gave me some good laughs and I cannot wait for what’s next from Mimi Jean.
If I could have one wish granted, it’s that this book will be your next spectacular read! With a very different and fresh premise, immensely endearing characters, a captivating storyline and a twist or several to keep you on your toes, this book is tons of heartwarming fun!
Ginnie Angelico gets a chance most people would give their right arm for: to have one wish granted. But Ginnie isn’t your average gal, and the master of the wish-granting bottle isn’t happy when she refuses to play by the rules.
Ginnie is still finding herself after being dumped by her ex, as well as trying to get her mosaic glass art business off the ground. She’s not at all materialistic, and any wish she wants to make would benefit someone else, which is against the rules. But the man behind the bottle, now that’s a different story. Although he seems to look into her soul and know what she’s thinking, and he manages to appear and disappear at will, there’s something about him that makes Ginnie want to uncover all of his secrets.
This book has so much awesomeness in it I can’t find the words to sufficiently gush about it. I adore this heroine, with her strength, independence and ability to see the good in people. At times, too trusting, like leaving her back door unlocked (no, that’s not a euphemism), she learns to rely on her intuition again. And our hero, well, he gives a whole new meaning to tall, dark and mysterious.
This author is new to me, but she has a fan for life after my reading this book. It’s low on angst with plenty of humor throughout, but heavy on chemistry and overflowing with heart. I flew through this riveting story in one sitting and I hated to see it end. These characters effortlessly absconded with my heart but left me with a smile on my face and a happy sigh in my soul. If you’re looking for something fun, fresh and full of feels, this is that book, and you absolutely won’t want to miss it!
I honestly think that Wish is my favorite of all of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff’s works. It’s a quirky, offbeat fairytale love story. The kind that makes you smile and feel good for having read it. As with all fairytales there is a bit of a dark side but that only added to the allure. When I read the book’s blurb and then saw the heroine’s name, Ginnie, I thought, oh Mimi you did not go there. But indeed she did and it was perfection! Two remarkable characters surrounded by an enchanting tale that will capture your heart…..it just doesn’t get any better.
Another amazing read by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! This book is a stand-alone. Ginnie, an artist who works in repurposed glass, a fabulous jar, not once but twice. The first time she sees it is at a garage sale, where a very handsome but not very nice man takes it right out of her hands. The next time is at a thrift shop. She notices that there is a note inside. The note will change the course of her life but will she actually get what she really wishes for? We should all be so lucky as to find that jar and have our dreams come true!!
