I just finished Toby Neal’s latest thriller, Wired Justice , on my flight home from vacation. And it was AWESOME! Her tight prose, twists and turns, and deep characters kept me totally engrossed for the whole flight. I love Sophie, a socially awkward, brilliant, strong female lead and her dog, Ginger—who provides not only a keen nose for trouble but also comic relief. Toby is a master story teller, and the way she melds just the right amount of romance into this exciting mystery is impossible to resist. Start at the beginning of this series, buckle your seat belt, and prepare for a very exciting ride!
I was given an ARC of this book; here’s my honest opinion: Wow! Just WOW! This Wired series gets better and better! The intensity is fierce! Emotional highs and, yes, lows in Wired Justice left me drained, but so very satisfied at the end of a great story. While trying to find a missing girl, Sophie and Jake are thrown together and explore their feelings for each other, with some surprising results. Her dog, Ginger, plays a big part in several scenes. A very disconcerting meeting with someone from Sophie’s past, makes a proposal that promises at least another 1-2 books. There is one scene with Sophie and a bad guy that is so reminiscent of one with Lei Texeira way back in Blood Orchids, I had to look it up and re-read it! Both are real ‘badass’ women! Sophie, like Lei, is so tough, yet so vulnerable, so damaged. Can Doc Wilson help her heal?
I read this book In one day. It was the perfect amount of intrigue and romance. I like the Lei Hawaiian series and this was one of the best. Toby Neal is an excellent writer . Her characters are strong and wildly interesting.
I was looking forward to reading the new “Wired” book and I was very excited when it finally became available. Sophie is my favorite character from all the books Toby Neal wrote. Because of that I waited until the weekend started so I can savor and enjoy reading her new adventures. I have to admit that I simply couldn’t put it down and I got to the end of it in one day (skipping dinner was totally worth it). Towards the end of the story I even thought of slowing down, leaving the last few chapters for the next day, trying to extend the time I spent in Sophie’s world…. but I just couldn’t. It was too captivating and kept me holding my breath until the end. Now I can hardly wait for the next “Wired” book because they just keep getting better and better. Toby Neal is amazing at keeping the story interesting, intriguing, unexpected and fresh. There are always new characters yet I very much enjoy when familiar and likable characters are back in the story, feels like getting back with good old friends! This is a definitely another “must read” from the Wired collection!
One of my favorite authors
After leaving the FBI, and suffering from stress and her omnipresent baggage, Sophie decides to take her dog Ginger and hike around one of the island lava fields and de-stress for a time. Ginger leads her to a grisly scene of a family’s murder and things go downhill from there!
I liked this book
Toby Neal is my new favorite crime drama author.
Love the twists and turns of the plot. The characters are very well drawn and realistic, and the setting is gorgeous. I really enjoy this series, and eagerly await more!
Love all of her books!
Love the books about Sophie Any and her furry sidekick Ginger. Great blend of mystery, intrigue, and romance. Love her story taking place in Hawaii, This book 6 in the Wired series, loved them all. This book is intense, emotional, and had lots of action. This book takes place on the Big Island, Sophie finds bodies, Sophie and her partner Jake have a lot to figure out both in this mystery and in their relationship. I really recommend this book, and the entire series.
I have been reading this series since the very first and as soon as I finish I anxiously am waiting for the next. The characters are well written and really draw you in and the authors knowledge of the Islands makes every detail believable and an all around wonderful read!
Go Ang go.
We were first introduced to Sophie as a supporting actor in the Lei Crime Series. We have been able to get to know her, what makes her tick, what her priorities are, her principals and her ethics through those books and the Wired series where Sophie is the central character. She is a complex, fascinating character and the more we learn about her, the better it gets. Now, in Wired Justice, she seems to be reaching a major turning point in her life as her beliefs regarding what is acceptable and right are tested. Could not put it down until it was done and am looking forward to the next book even more than I have in the past!!!
Sophie Ang is on vacation when her dog, Ginger, finds a pile of human bones. Then her partner, Jake calls to tell her they have been assigned a missing persons case. Sophie uses her expert computer skills to follow up on both cases while trying to ignore her growing attraction to Jake She ,is a complicated person trying to figure out who she is and what she wants out of life. She is also a daring, fearless crime fighter who will do whatever is necessary to get the job done and doesn’t always follow the rules to do so. If you haven’ met her yet this is your chance. You’ll be glad you did!
absolutely loved this latest installment. Loved all the twits and turns and the introduction of Sophie’s mom.
THRILLER!
Sophie’s and her faithful lab Ginger were supposed to be taking some time off to get refreshed and refocused. So much for that idea! The girls quickly unite with Jake Dunn and his rescue dog Tank to find a missing girl. As they uncover more and more clues and find out how complex the web of players is woven, Sophie is also dealing with her demons of depression. She still is so traumatized by her past with her evil sadistic ex-husband. Three men want to share her life. Will she ever be able to fully trust any man? Neal intricately weaves a tale of trying find one’s self, duty/honor vs. revenge, love vs. lust, deception and life altering decisions made by others a lifetime ago that are still having effects today. Fast-paced adventure from start to finish! I was provided an ARC of this book by the author. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.
This book was everything I had hoped it would be. Toby did not disappoint. I love Sophie and her naivety but ultimately she is uber smart, strong, fearless, and fiercely determined to be independent. But no matter what she tries to do or where she seems to go, trouble seems to follow her. With her lovable dog Ginger at her side, she can face just about anything.
When she decides to take a walk about, things do not go as planned. Ginger and her nose stir the proverbial pot and drag Sophie into a mystery that needs her certain skill set to put all the pieces together. Throw her adorable, dynamic, partner Jake Dunn into the mix and things really start to get hot in the kitchen. Good lord, that man may be a Neanderthal but he is definitely good at what he does. So good! *Sigh*
Toby writes with such exquisite detail. The way she’s able to immerse you into the island surroundings makes one feel as though they are there. Her books grasp you from the first line and keep you wanting more.
WIRED JUSTICE. by Toby Neal
Sophie spent the night at the lava beds, enjoying that meditative state
Ginger, her dog, takes off, only to led Sophie to find a hole with bodies.
Jake with Security Solutions, dealing with the parents of their lost daughter. Visiting campgrounds,Jake and Sophie, none have seen the missing girl, a couple of lowlife’s the woman had on a bracelet that belong to the missing girl. Are they dealing with a serial killer, or as the authorities are saying they have a lot of missing kids on the island, but what about the hole with bodies. The plot is captivating, puzzling.a family is taken out. A beautiful young girl, and no one has seen. Against the beauty of Hawaii, another great plot, you don’t want to put down, as you try to figure out the why it has happened. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
This was an awesome book! The chemistry between the characters is HOT! Reading about Sophie’s non-stop escapades kept the pages turning. Having insight into Sophie’s and Jake’s thoughts kept me totally engrossed in the book! The book started with Sophie being on “vacation”, but as per “normal Sophie”, the vacation turned into a case. Sophie works with her co-worker Jake and the local Police on the case but in the middle of it all, she gets a surprise visit from someone from her past. Sophie needs some help handling all the things happening at once and her on-going depression so she goes to her therapist and these meetings with the therapist give you an inside look into the “darkness” she is battling and also how she feels about the three (3) men in her life. There is also a new character in the series and his name is Tank. You will fall in love with him as I did!! I loved this book and it seems as each book in the series comes out, they have more action, more suspense and more bad-ass Sophie! Love it! (less)
