Oh, yeah! Another GREAT story from Toby Neal! Start at the beginning and read all of them . . . in each of her ‘series’ ! They’re GREAT!!!!
Toby Neal is a writer when I read one of her books I have to keep going to the next. So many series and all the woman characters I don’t know how she keeps up with each of the ladies series but glad she does. I especially love when all 3 woman are on a case together..
I enjoyed this as much as every other one of Toby Neal’s book’s & I have read them all!
Love this whole series!!
You know how sometimes a series becomes stale and it seems like the author is phoning it in? Yeah, definitely NOT the case with Toby Neal’s Paradise Crime series. Wired Ghost is full of twists and turns to keep you guessing and Sophie continues to grow and surprise me. I highly recommend starting with the first book in the series, Wired In, and binging your way to Wired Ghost because Wired Strong is coming soon!
Wired Ghost is an emotional roller coaster. Sophie and Jake are back together again to find a missing girl. Too bad they end up trapped in a lava tube. Toby does a great job of drawing us in to her books. This is One book I read non stop!!
I have been anxiously awaiting this installment of the Paradise Crime Series, and it was definitely worth the wait. Wired Ghost was unpredictable and took me through more emotions than any other book I’ve read. As always with Toby’s books, be prepared to be up all night reading it. It’s hard to put down once you start. Her books just keep getting better and better, as she takes you on a roller coaster of action, mystery, and emotions! I look forward to the next book in this series.
I was privileged to receive an eARC of Wired Ghost along with a request to write an honest review.
Honestly, it is another good book from the pen of Toby Neal, a wonderful writer.
This began very slowly. Sophie and her partner Jake Dunn had accepted a case looking for a runaway teen. The girl was allegedly located at a methamphetamine lab hidden near Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island. They had to methodically plod their way. The going was slow as the terrain was rocky and pitted with holes. The action picks up a bit when they are caught. I do not want to give any spoilers but the story follows Sophie and Jake and their search for both the runaway teen and her captors.
I rated this 4 stars, primarily because of the slow initial pace and then to find out the story continues with “Wired Strong”
I was privileged to get an advanced readers copy of the book and here is my honest opinion. As always I do enjoy action none-stop, easy-to-follow storyline, well developped characters, colorful settings for the story, also learn something new in every book (for example in this one have researched “Kipuka” and some of the Haiwaii specific plants and trees). And this time the story also had a really unexpected plot-twist added to the mix. I’d think this can be read as a standalone but really would recommend to read earlier books in this series to get a deeper undestanding of characters and the storyline, it is definitelly worth your time. Best thing about it – it’s definitielly not the last in the series 🙂
Sophie is back. And Toby has written another suspense filled thriller that cannot be put down. Wired Ghost grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t turn you loose until your completely wrung out! I was on Island the day that the Caldera emptied and the flow started the next day. Unfortunately we left Island and didn’t get to see it flow. But reading this book let me imagine how it might have felt. This book was an emotional roller coaster ride. Cannot wait for the next!
I received this book as an ARC reader, but the review is my own.
Wow.
This book, like all the other Wired books, is absolutely amazing. It is an emotional roller coaster of a book. Sophie’s latest case takes her to a kipuka, a small “island” in lava, on the verge of an eruption. The danger is very real, from both the “bad guys” and from nature itself. This book contains some of the most intense chapters of any book I’ve read in a long time. Ms Neal brings us through a vast range of emotions, sometimes in quick succession.
We gets some nice catching up with beloved characters (and not so beloved) in this book, and that is always nice. However, if this is your first Wired book (and if so, whyyy??) you shouldn’t feel lost or confused. There is enough information to know who each person is easily. But if you’ve read this series from the beginning, and the series that originated Sophie’s character, you will love these appearances. I love how with each book Sophie grows personally in some way, but we get new layers to several characters in this book.
I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.
This book has got to be one of the best books I have read in a long time. I could not wait for this book and it did not disappoint me. It grabbed hold of me from the start and it definitely had a hold of me through the entire book! The characters in the book are like family and everything they go through brings on emotions that are so real and unforgettable. Toby has a writing style that keeps you engrossed and it makes you feel like you are there right beside the characters, living their story, living their life. If you like a book that will not let go of you, even after you finish it, this is definitely the book (and series) for you! If you like a book that has unexpected twists and turns, like a roller-coaster ride, this is the book for you! If you love an author that can take words, put them on paper and have them affect you to the point of laughter and tears, you will love all the books Toby writes and all the series she has created. She has entertained us to the point where we feel what the characters are feeling and to be able to do that shows she is a very talented author! I look forward to the next book in the series and living, even if just for a bit, the story that Toby shares with us!
Who knew when I stumbled on my first book by Toby Neal, I would quickly become addicted. Her books are full of adventure, and you feel like you are right in the middle of their story. Do NOT begin this one at bedtime, because you cannot put Wired Ghost down. I promise you an exciting time where you will laugh, love, cry, and anxiously await the next chapter and the next book.
Sophie Ang is estranged from her Mother for good reason, in love with Jake, friends with Connor and thrilled to be Mother to Momi. Enjoy beautiful places and a heart wrenching story as you continue on your journey with Wired Ghost.
I am an ARC reader and have voluntarily left this review.

Toby Neal’s excellent 11th Paradise Crime series novel, Wired Ghost, begins with a case that Sophie (and Jake, her partner and former lover), are plunged into.
This amazing novel is full of events that will make you ready to burst with excitement, so enveloping are the characters, the secrets, lies and the dangers experienced within.
Guaranteed to make you feel like you’re part of the non-stop action and to completely forget about the threat of Covid-19, you absolutely should not miss Toby Neal’s Wired Ghost at any cost…get it today!
I read a lot of books. Since retirement, I read about a book a day. In my lifetime, I have read thousands of books. I take my Kindle with me where ever I go and read every chance I get. If it is a really good book, I will stay up reading until I finish the book or just can’t keep my eyes open.
There are a lot of good writers out there in the world with good ideas for plot lines that aren’t too cliched or done to death. However, my favorites don’t just string words together in a coherent manner, they are storytellers. A storyteller makes you care about their characters. They invite you into a hero/heroine that is human, complex, and someone you’d like to meet and befriend. A storyteller builds the story with each page, pulling you along to read just one more paragraph, one more page, one more chapter until you are at the end and you want to read more. As the story’s tension builds, the reader’s breath intensifies, the heart begins to race, and you are fully drawn into the pace of the story.
Toby Neal is a storyteller of the best kind. She develops her characters as though they are real people, people you want to know. Even her ‘bad guys’ have developed personalities and backstories to explain their actions. Her plots are feasible. The arc of the story is plausible. Her characters relate to each other in authentic ways. Set in the Hawaiian Islands, she includes their history, their customs, their problems, and their pleasures.
Wired Ghost, Neal’s latest in telling Sophie’s story takes place 2 years after her last book. Much has changed while the past still has a stronghold on Sophie’s heart and mind. Wired Ghost introduces a new hunk of a man in her life as Sophie deals with her feelings for Alika, Connor, and Jake. Stolen diamonds, a trip to San Francisco, and her daughter, Momi, all take her attention as she takes a break from being a CEO to working in the field again.
Wired Ghost can be read as a stand-alone story, but I highly recommend that you start from the beginning of Sophie’s journey. Reading the earlier books in order will give a greater depth of understanding and enjoyment to this installment. If I could give Wired Truth and Toby Neal 6 stars I would, but 5 will have to do.
I couldn’t wait to read this one. Getting into the story right away and feeling all the feelings along with the characters. This is a must read story and I already can’t wait for the next book. If you like the series so far you’re gonna love where the story goes.
Don’t miss this one. Wow! Just WOW! All of Toby’s books are sensational, but this one take it to a new level. If you have been a fan of the Wired series, you definitely don’t want to miss this book. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, so suffice to say you will be one the edge of your seat, gripping the armrest, excited, horrified, sad, and more. Toby hits it out of the park with this one.
In this eleventh addition to the Wired series featuring the brave Sophie, Toby Neal has written another richly textured, emotionally engaging and utterly riveting adventure.
The story begins two weeks after the end of Wired Truth on the Big Island of Hawaii’s active volcano plain. Sophie and Jake are paired again, this time in a rescue mission of an underage girl that has run away with a meth cooker. Searching for this girl is just the first thread that Neal interweaves with past Wired stories and characters leading to future episodes in the Wired series.
Wired Ghost is filled with plenty of action, suspense and gut-clenching daring do, but Neal’s greatest strength is her characterization. She writes characters that we love to hate and love to love.
Although Wired Ghost can be read as a stand-alone, reading the entire series will give the reader a more full grasp of the characters development. Beyond that, they are very engaging reads.
Well, you’re going to need some tissues for this one, and take your blood pressure meds, because it is tense all the way through! DO NOT START IF YOU HAVE TO GO TO WORK OR MAKE DINNER FOR THE KIDDOS! You’ve been warned. Plenty of low moments, but a few highs. Drama? Full of it. Danger? A bunch! I had to go back and re-read several chapters. Good lessons and insights. In one of my favorite moments, Connor was dwelling on his life with the Master; he thought, “He was where he was.” My thought to myself came, “I am who I am.” Later in that same scenario, the Master admonished Connor, “Whenever you are struggling, stop. Open your mind and let a fuller experience come in through your senses. Nothing extra is ever needed for bliss but a moment of perfect awareness.” I need a consult with Doc Wilson. Toby Neal does that to me sometimes!
Wow…Toby Neal has packed so much action and adrenaline in just the first part of this book alone. Emotions run high and I was gripped from the very beginning. I even found myself holding my breath! I don’t know how she does it, but she does it so well. This book, this whole series, is so utterly amazing that I highly recommend it as a must-have-read! I can’t wait for the next book to see where Sophie’s journey takes her.
