Winter’s Secret is a long-awaited love story kept in the background by a new sheriff in town chasing elusive home invasion burglars. Who is a mystery that has Sheriff Rodd guessing, readers turning pages, and guessing, also.
No spoilers on the romance between the sheriff and Wendy, but it is complicated. Romance and mystery break ins combine to create an engaging, entertaining goodread by Lyn Cote.
Good story but it moved slowly.
It is a good book
Small town dynamics help showcase the drama of these two and force them to work together. It’s a fun read and enjoyable to see how their paths should have crossed so many times before but can’t be uncrossed now that they have.
This was a wonderful book with delightful characters. Sad in many ways but really good.
Through a series of burglaries a new sheriff
finds Christ and a wife. Inspiring decency.
Good book
I enjoyed each of Lyn Cote’s books about the same townspeople. But this particular book was great.
I enjoyed this story. The mystery kept my attention.
left me wanting to read her other book
Good Christian fiction. Somewhat similar to what you might see on the Hallmark channel.
Our hero is from Baltimore, a city cop, moved to the small town and elected as sheriff. There is a string of robberies on elder citizens. Their homes are robbed of what cash they have when they have to stay in the clinic, away from home, over night. There aren’t any clues to find and the sheriff is being taunted as a failure. The only comminality is the young lady who travels the county to provide in home health care for the people.
Good clean “Who-dunit” with a romantic twist. Lots of small town personalities add spice to the story.
This is a wonderful Christian romantic suspense story that kept me guessing until the end! The Christian passages lead me to reflect on my own life. This was my first experience with this author and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books.
Very good book!
I love to read mystery books, and this one is definitely on my list as a good book to read! Wonderful characters and it showed how God can bring about faith and love.
Interesting mystery line
Good story, appealing characters.
Different than what I normally read but I really enjoyed it
Not a “who-done-it”, but who is doing it. A very hard to figure out culprit is tearing this town apart and making it very difficult to solve who is doing this and why. Lots of action and a sweet romantic story to boot.
is Lyn Cote’s suspenseful mystery about a serial burglar who preys on vulnerable elderly people during a very cold and snowy Winter. In fact, the criminal has been dubbed the Snowmobile Burglar. A skilled nurse, Wendy, must work with Sheriff Rodd in order to acquire clues, and protect her elderly patients, until the complicated case is solved. Will they be able to put aside the tension in their relationship for the sake of the victims, and will they be able to even become friends – or more? With my many years as a Victim Advocate in a prosecutor’s office, I appreciate the inclusion of the perspective of the innocent, vulnerable VICTIMS and how the vicrtimization affects their lives, emotions and even physical health. Lyn Cote does a great job of developing characters and relationships, and also isn’t preachy – which is especially a blessing at this time of political inundation.. The only issue about which I disagreeed with was Wendy’s perception of the confrontation of a believer’s continuing evil deeds and words, and sowing of division. I do not see that as “allowing evil” in; the evil was the woman’s continuing hateful behavior. Confronation is sometimes necessary. In fact, most people will never change if not confronted. However, there are Biblical principles (Matthew 18, Galatians 6) to follow when one does this, but it actually is a means of helping the straying person (James 5)! At any rate, I will definitely be looking for more books by Cote in the near future.
A family feud, a snow mobile burglar, a scarred sheriff, and a scarred nurse. Such intrigue. A very enjoyable story!!
