This is an intense read. I really liked Winter from the start, there’s a lot going on with her, the loss of her parents at such a young age, the wicked Queen of Mirrors, those that were protecting her from the start. Kazek in this broody, alpha, loner type that everyone can just feel the power rolling off of him. The story itself, I enjoyed. I did go back and forth on my review as some of the aspects of the story bothered me. Because those are my own quirks and the story itself was solid I went with a four star. For me, some of the rituals, punishments, “the knot”… those things were pushed a bit. This was my first read by this author and it seems this story is tied in to another series that would have explained some of these things a bit. There were some characters that were introduced that I was interested in finding out more about. The story kept me involved and turning pages.
And the sinister fairy tales continue…this book is by Lexi Foss. I have never read any of her books in the past but am completely in awe of this book and soon to be coming series in this genre. This definitely was a total different style of writing than what i have encountered in the past, even with my love of shifter books. It is interesting to see the way that Kazek and Winter’s relationship changes over the course of a few weeks. As a reader it was often hard to digest how Kazek treated Winter at times, on that aspect he treats her similar to a mafia wife. While Winter is trying to discover who she truly is, Kazek is trying to figure out how to keep his mate in line…it’s an interesting battle thats for sure. Kazek needs a mate who will respect him but challenge him too, he thinks he has finally found it in Winter but her past isn’t finished with her yet..
Will Kazek rise to his new role as alpha and rule Winter’s sector beside Winter, or will she die trying to regain her kingdom from an evil alpha?
For the first time in what feels a long time, mainly due to the uncertain times in which we presently live, I have read a book that I just didn’t want to put down. A book that drew me totally and profoundly into it’s world, had me utterly entranced with every word, had me battling between the need to read quickly and find out what would happen next with stretching out the experience and time with the characters for as long as possible.
From the blurb I was expecting a far less battle-ready Snow/Winter, I also thought it suggested a timeline of months or years, rather than a week or so. And that is the ONLY fault I really found with the story. Also, if I’m being totally honest, I wasn’t sure how a more fantasy style story, suggested by the blurb, would fit into the x-clan series. It wouldn’t, so the fact that this was very much in line with the rest of the series was actually a relief. In this book, and the series as a whole, the author has created a world that I never want to leave.
Winter and Kazak get off to quite an explosive start, albeit a shaky one too. They have barely exchanged more than a few words when circumstances force their hands into embarking on a very unexpected and very complicated journey. Twists, turns, harsh lessons, shocking discoveries all play out into a layered story that enables (forces?) both Winter and Kazak to undergo personal growth in a way that felt utterly believable – even if this is a paranormal/dystopian/omegaverse story!
Whilst the basic rule of law is that Alphas lead and Omegas submit, Winter never once came across as weak or powerless. In a very short period of time her entire world was tipped upside down and she had to learn new rules and adapt VERY quickly. Yes some of her decisions were reckless, yes she made some errors, but more as a consequence of the situation forced on her rather than a weak or irritating personality. I loved her.
I also loved Kazak, mainly because he respected her capabilities and needed her strength, though pack law meant that in public Winter needed to mind her step. He was occasionally an alpha-hole, but his willingness to listen, to explain, also made him very redeemable. His very imperfections were what made him perfect, particularly the fact that he was, sort of, willing to admit to his mistakes.
This pair, their journey (both physical and emotional), their passion, their learning, their story was just perfect. So as I said at the beginning – I want, no I NEED, more!
The next installment in the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection is a dark retelling of Snow White and it is all that with a paranormal twist. Kazek is an Alpha who is tasked with paying his clan’s respects at an engagement party much to his chagrin. He does not count on meeting Snow, a woman who does not know her place and needs to be taught. However, after meeting Kazek, there is something about him that leaves her a bit on edge. When Snow hears some shocking news about what is to take place on the night of her wedding she absconds and winds up somewhere that could have some serious repercussions. It took a bit to warm up to these characters but after a while, their journey became enjoyable as they learned and grew bringing out the best in each other. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
OMG! Amirite?
Snow Frost is heir to the Winter Sector throne. Adopted daughter to the Queen of Mirrors, Vanessa, who is plotting against her and the kingdom, in a power move to end all power moves because bey-otches be bey-otches, yo!
This is my favorite X-Clan story so far. Ander Cain was a mean dope, IMO–he made me cry for an entire chapter. Elias is totally my WILF, and now Lexi C. Foss gave me another name to add to the WILF list in Sven Mickelson–who is getting his own book next in the series, Bariloche Sector. Swoon, I tell you. SWOON!
But Kazek Flor is my wolf, and he won’t be to everyone’s taste, but he’s tasty as all heckfire to me.
Winter’s Arrow is a retelling of Sleeping beauty omegaverse-style. Snow Frost is a Beta princess promised to the Alpha Enrique from the Bariloche Sector in an alliance mating devised by the Queen of Mirrors. Only Snow finds that there is something far sinister awaiting her on her wedding night. Feeling reckless, she gets a little mouthy with Alpha Kazek from the Norse Sector; instead of punishing her, he finds her tempting. And fate and Snow’s miscalculations land her at his feet when she attempts to escape. Only this is ain’t no fairytale.
Kazek is more smexy growl than bitter poisoned bite compared to Ander Cain, who was a bunch of emotional rocks (Sorry, Lexi C. Foss). Kaz’s brutal in many ways I can embrace, but Kaz lacks the prideful callousness that made me angry about a lot of what happened in Andorra Sector. I would say that Kaz is Ander done correctly (Sorry, Lexi C. Foss).
If I had to scour the book for a complaint, I would say that I wish the Snow’s/Winter’s Seven weren’t so similar. Overall they had little character development. They also had very little part in the story, and they were easy to confuse for one another other than Grum, who was part of the plot.
I loved Winter’s Arrow, and I can’t wait for Sven and Kari’s book!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advance copy of this book.
Andorra Sector
X-Clan: The Experiment (X-Clan Series Book 2)
A confession- I am not a fantasy romance lover. Certain things about fantasy romance just stops me from falling in love with this genre. BUT Lexi C. Foss just blew through my mental blocks and may have converted me into a fan! This dark, twisted and supernatural retelling of Snow White was unexpectedly amazing.
Beta Snow has fled her Sector on her wedding night to Alpha Enrique because she comes to know of the plan of her Alpha stepmom Vanessa. And she did it by hiding into aircraft of the Norse Sector that carried Alpha Kazek, a guest to her wedding. But what is her plan? How will she survive into an unknown territory when alphas will fight to claim her? Will Kazek protect her and make her his? Will she be able to get back the right to her kingdom?
First of all, HOLY HOTNESS. This story is animalistic passion in every way. The way the alphas fight and dominate and rule over Betas and Omegas. The way the alphas and omegas mate. This is a volatile and dangerous world that has their own rules and violating those means war. Kazek was the dominating alpha. I cannot handle his level of arrogance and power and enigma. Snow was his mate and his perfect queen. She is a balance of submission, sexy, sassy and strength. She fought with everything to establish her rights and also to claim her true mate. The story is action packed and steroid filled drama. Fast paced and adrenaline fuelled, the story kept me on edge.
Winter’s Arrow by Lexi C. Foss was sinful, power packed and enchanting through and through. The writing is just brilliant that caught me under it’s spell from the very first page.
Received ARC for honest review
WOW!! I don’t even know where to start with my review. I loved the book so much!!! From the world building to the characters and the story, “Winter’s Arrow” blew my mind away! I didn’t want to stop reading and just kept turning pages until the last one! This was my first book from the author and I’m super excited to see that there are more books in the series!!!
Snow Frost is the Princess of the Winter Sector. After her parents’ death, Vanessa, the Queen of Mirrors, took over the Sector and raised her. However, Snow’s upbringing wasn’t all good. The Queen never gave her free rein and didn’t let her outside the castle. Just like the past years, she still doesn’t have control of her life, so she can’t do anything about her impending betrothal either. When she finds out that the Queen is plotting with her future Alpha to kill her, she decides to run.
Kazek Flor is an Alpha, second-in-command to the Norse Sector’s Alpha. After his Alpha’s command, he comes to Winter Sector to congratulate Snow on her betrothal. Before he was turned, he was known as the Huntsman, an assassin. The fact that he was turned and not born a shifter, it’s the reason why some of the other wolves look down at him. Those that know him and fought against him, are aware of his strengths and ruthlessness when it comes to fighting. That’s why he’s amused when Snow keeps his stare and doesn’t cower to him.
“My name is no longer Snow. It’s Winter. Winter of Norse Sector.”
There are so many things going on in the book. Snow ends up in Norse Sector after all. Her life is about to change since everything she known were lies. The Queen kept many things from her, the biggest being her true nature. She’s ready to do anything in order to get her kingdom back. With the revelations, comes her new identity.
The relationship between Kazek and Winter/Snow is nothing but explosive. He might be the superior one, but Winter won’t submit easily. Their passion is palpable, and their mating is intense. These two are made for each other! Winter’s fierceness compliments Kazek beautifully. His mate couldn’t be anything but strong and resilient.
I loved the background story. I was really intrigued and fascinated since I haven’t read anything similar. I will be diving into the previous books as well and I’ll be in the lookout for “Bariloche Sector”!!!!
Snow like you’ve never seen her before. This world goes along with another story the author has and I loved seeing the connection and how she put them together. Kazek and Winter (Snow White) are explosive together and I swear I needed a break after getting through their scenes. But I loved it. There is so much going on in the story that I don’t want to give anything away. But this is a great re-telling of the Snow White fairy tale and I couldn’t get enough.
Ten brilliant stars
Action – Adventure – Betrayal – Lust – Defiance – Danger – Secrets -Bloody Brawls – Vengeance – Rescues – Twists – Love – Serious pantie melting moments –
It has it all!
I was captive from the moment Alpha Kazek was forced to attend (not telling) to the very end when good overcame evil (It’s a fairy tale people!)
Snow is the soon to be queen. Her loving stepmother has groomed her from childhood, guarded over her kingdom for her, and found her a prince who will accept her with all her flaws. Trained and protected by her seven (OMG people the names ) she is ready to take her throne.
Her life is poetically perfect.
NOT
First off Snow is a challenging handful of fiery temptation. Don’t for once believe the sweet and innocent facade this one portrays. Under all that submissive head bobbing is one dangerous woman.
Fate can be such a manipulative and cruel mistress. A few times I wish I could have reached in and comforted her, reminded her she was not alone. Despite the horrors that are unveiled and the hurdles, she had to overcome, she never falters – Yes, she takes a moment to play in the pity pool (who wouldn’t) but then she dries off Dons her quiver and Takes no prisoners!
I was so proud of her (happy tears) My kind of heroine
I know, I know, I am rambling but HELLO I have so many emotions swirling through me I want to share with you
Alpha Kazek –
I licked him he is mine (wanted to clarify that real quick)
He was perfect
He was a true Alpha. He had no problems taking control by whatever means necessary. He had that bloodthirsty steak that brings everyone to their knees and most importantly? He was fair, just and oh so smexy (again fairy tale here folks)
This is my favorite of the Clan series and Sinister release to date. How Foss can craft such perfectly perverse and entertaining tales, each one better than the last still amazes me.
One of my one-click authors – she has never failed to deliver.
This is an omegaverse tale full of Alphas and Betas and a lowly Omega here and there…
It has power plays, violence, blood, and sex all interwoven in one of this year’s absolute must-read tales
Just one click this is one you will want to read over and over
***4 Stars***
This baby was a surprise. A totally pleasant one, but it definitely made me sit up and go “Hey” It also had me going “WTF?!?!” a couplefew times, but I definitely got behind this retelling of Snow White. Everything from our MC’s, to the world building and all the way down to the Seven Dwarves had me getting lost in the story until the very end.
Snow/Winter and Kazek were definitely a pair, a pair I ended up really liking in the end, but boy did these two have quite a journey to travel before they both ended up exactly where they were supposed to be. She had to learn how to balance the power she actually had and he had to see beyond what he thought himself to be. These ‘growing pains’ made for interesting times as they not only learned to be mates, but simply friends who could trust in each other. They both drove me BSC in their own ways, so I wasn’t team anyone really, and though I understood how the hierarchy worked, there was one time where I leaned more towards Winter than Kazek. But in the end, I liked how it all worked out for them.
This was my first read by the author and I gotta say I enjoyed the journey. It did take me a bit to figure the world in general out, but even with that said, I was hooked from the start and liked how everything ended up playing out. As for the supporting cast of characters, Mick, Kari and Enrique were favorites, but it was Alana who truly interested me and I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing her get her HEA one day.

4 and 1/2 stars
I don’t read many shifter romances but I think the way this one was crafted managed to capture my attention. The fact that it was also a fairy tale retelling added another layer. The two together worked really well. Snow/Winter has been a pawn in the Queen’s game but as the story progresses, we see her become a key player. I think both Snow/Winter and Kazek come into their own as the story progresses. They come to accept their new destiny and the roles they have to play.
There’s a lot chemistry between Snow/Winter and Kazek especially during their mating but what I took the most from those moments was the deep connection this created between them. This intense bond between mates was fascinating because I think most people would want a profound connection with their partner. There were a number of characters, all strong and alpha, which made the story all the more engaging. This was a page turning and captivating story.
Winter’s Arrow (Sinister Fairy Tales Series) by Lexi Foss is a paranormal, futuristic spin on the story of Snow Frost. Snow has been told by her Alpha abusive Queen stepmother that she will be getting married. At the dinner before the wedding she and her trusted secret 7 decide she has to escape due to the fact she overheard her stepmother and fiancee planning to murder her. This is the beginning of her adventure. Kazek is at the celebration dinner to represent the Norse Sector. He is know to the Queen as the Huntsman and the Assassin. While at this dinner Snow’s scent speaks to his beast. When he gets back to his territory he still smells her scent. The reason why he smells her is because she was a stowaway on his aircraft. When he finds her, circumstances have him making a decision that has serious ramifications. Snow wants her territory back and to get revenge on her stepmother for what she has done to her and her people. Snow and Kazek have a relationship that made for a really good story. The sex between them was hot. The push and pull, love and hate brought out the best and worst in each of them. Who and what they thought they were was not who they ended up being because of each other. Looking forward to reading more about them and the other characters in the other books. More to this story than your childhood fairy tale. A grown folk’s tale. 4.5 stars for me
Winter’s Arrow is an epically subverted fairytale. I have fallen in love with this wickedly twisted adaptation of Snow White! Lexi C. Foss has absolutely knocked it out of the park, weaving a paranormal world with shifter wolves and dark fairytales come to life. Raw characterization and emotion filters through each interaction as the pages fly by. A fantastic and fully developed cast of secondary characters allows for the story to be fleshed out fuller and made it more enjoyable, and also has me hoping some of them will get stories too!
But Winter’s Arrow is all about Kazek and Winter, princess formerly known as Snow. Kazek, an alpha with presence and a rather large chip on his shoulder, and Winter, who has learned that everything she ever thought was true is a lie, and, someone wants her dead. After barely escaping with her life, things start to fall in a tailspin, and some decisions are made my Kazek which save her life, even if she didn’t consent to it at the time. The battle of wills between these two protagonists is delightful to witness, each argument an obstacle on a steep learning curve of a journey. She doesn’t know who to trust, how to trust, and he doesn’t know how to show emotion. Yet, they’re undeniably drawn to one another and connected on the deepest level.
Kazek is growly, alpha, fierce, and utterly committed and devoted, once he gets over a few…issues he isn’t quite adept at dealing with at first. Winter is feisty, compassionate, intelligent, and utterly committed and devoted, once she gets over a few…stumbling blocks regarding her new situation and position in life.
Lexi has given us a simply wonderfully dark and twisted fairytale that teaches us the importance of communication, compassion, and fighting for what you love and what you believe in.
A fairytale retelling with a paranormal twist. This return to the X-Clan Omegaverse introduces us to Alpha Kazek and Princess Snow (who really prefers to be called Winter). Kazek is a bit of a bossy a$$hole but I have to admit I totally dig it. Winter has just the right amount of sass to her too. Together they’re going to bring down the Queen of Mirrors who has stolen Winter’s rightful throne. If you’ve been following the other books in the X-Clan Omegaverse, I’m certain you’re going to love this as well. If you’re new to this world I still think you’re gonna love it and want more (which just means you’ll need to back track to the other books). Either way if you’re into paranormal, shifters, strong alphas, and sassy heroines check this out! You won’t regret it!
This series is just getting better and better as it goes. X-clan omegaverse wolve shifters in a post apocalyptic zombie world, combined with a fresh take on the Snow White fairytale made this an absolute page turner. I loved it!
Snow Frost has been betrayed by her fiance and wicked step mother, The Queen of Mirrors and her kingdom stolen. She runs for her life with the aid of her protective seven, but to the sector of the fearsome alpha huntsman, Kazek. When she’s discovered in a very unexpected state, Kazek has to make a split second decision to save Snows life. Then comes the fallout and consequences of that decision that brings this fabulous story to life and leads to both of them growing, developing and absolutely coming into their own. It’s not an easy journey, both are stubborn and if only they’d communicate a lot of strife could have been avoided, but where is the fun (and the super hot make up sex) in that!
Snow/Winter is out for revenge and despite her status where she can’t help but submit, is strong, sassy and brave, even if she makes a few crazy but understandable decisions under the circumstances. Kazek is the perfect balance of dominant alpha, protective and possessive but with a huge a-hole streak, although with a push or two, I loved that he owned his mistakes too.
The action is fast paced, the sex is steamy hot and I was glued to the story. My favourite in this series so far and I’m excited for what comes next!
This is a Snow White retelling story combined with dystopian futuristic and wolf-shifters, this dark series is amazing, and this book is one to add to that list. This book captured me from the start, Winter and Kazak started with a bang and I liked these characters very much, how they both have their ups and downs during the story and having them redeeming themselves and evolving makes the storyline so interesting. All the mix in the type of characters in this story makes it also quite unique and refreshing. Definitely one more to a must-read list in this retelling dark series.
I’m so in love with this new series Lexi C Foss has! The X-Clan is hot, oddly sweet, and so much more! I’ve the originality of this series. I’ve fallen in love with all these demanding Alphas and Kazek is no different.
I love that Kaz doesn’t want a meek Omega, he wants one with some fight and fire. He gets that with the beautifully beaten down Snow. She’s so much more than her situation has allowed. I love the fire in her but I also love that she knows when to submit.
We delve deeper into the X-Clan world with Winter’s Arrow. You get a fairy tale retelling with a lot of heat and spunk!
I actually really enjoyed this version of Snow white way more than any of the other remakes or books. I loved Winter even though she knew what she was supposed to do she still did the opposite and the girl was kick ads with a bow! Kaz. Who didn’t love him an Alpha who didn’t think he was good enough to be King omg the story was so good I loved it. I’m kind of sad that the sinister collection is coming to an end but I have loved all of them and can’t wait for the rest.
4.5
This was a very dark & twisted retelling of Snow White!! It had so many twists and turns and it was super hot!! Kaz and Winter were a good match and I look forward to Kari’s story.
This omegaverse world was a little weird to me with OTT rituals…and odd kinks. No shaming just made me pause And ask Really? That’s why I didn’t give it five stars.
Winter’s Arrow by Lexi C. Foss is part of the Sinister Fairy Tales Series along with being book Three in the X-Clan Series. This was a standalone book for me. This is the story of Snow Frost and it is a retailing of the Snow White fair tale except it was a dark story line. Snow was set to marry but soon learned that her fiancé and her guardian who is the queen of Mirrors where out to kill her. Snow/Winter was saved by her seven little friends which lead her to meet Alpha Kazek of Norse sector who he quick claims her as his own but he soon learns that although he prefers the solace of being alone has changed since he will have to do all he can to protect Snow and help her regain her title. Enjoyed this dark tale.
