I was granted a review copy through Netgalley by the publisher and now I am reading this bundle of novellas one at a time.
I will update my review with each new performed read.
ONE ROOM AT THE INN
Cheryl Bolen
Blurb: To reach the only person who ever offered help after her husband’s death, destitute Charlotte Hale must travel with her children on the coldest night in a generation—with a handsome stranger she prays she can trust.
My review :
It is not so long I read a tale by Mrs Cheryl Bolen. This one was far different, the deception is the story was to protect Charlotte’s family, and was not carried for long. It is a lovely tale of the magic of Christmas bringing two solitary souls together and giving children a forever to remember holiday.
INVITATION TO PLEASURE
Bronwen Evans
Blurb : There can be no love without trust…Will handsome and sexy Daniel Kerrich, Lord de Winter, be able to earn fiercely independent Lady Georgiana’s trust and win her heart in time for Christmas?
My review :
How I love when the heroine is no-damsel-in-distress but in need of a gentle hand to prove her not every man is an abuser of the weakest.
It was a sweet tale of trust to be deserved and love to be seen as not enslavement but freedom.
Cute and passionate is the hero of this tale, no alpha male but a kind and compassionate, ready to share the burden of the woman he gives his her, to be a shoulder on which she can rest her head.
A ROGUE’S REPUTATION
Lana Williams
Blurb : Will Christmas magic and mistletoe unite this unlikely pair?
My review :
Lady Louisa must take matter in hands and retrieve indiscrete letters her mother sent to a married man-now deceased, before his new heir finds them.
It was lovely read about consequences paid for family’s or past’s behaviors.
Granger wants to clean his family name, but also shows he is one to be relied on.
While Louisa must find a way to keep her mother out of endangering reputation inconsequential actions, not an easy task with the mother she has, why she thinks she must settle herself with a not surprising suitor, affreuse to follow her mother in her steps and fall for rogues.
This short story brought them together, eyes opener encounters compelling them to see past the gossips and accept the other for whom it is.
DARED & KISSED- The Scotsman’s Yuletide Bride Bree Wolf
Blurb : A daring lass. An angry Scot. And the happenings of a fateful day.
My review :
How a misunderstanding and stubbornness can cause so much hurt.
For seven years, Finn and Emma have done everything to avoid the other, certain each one dislike another.
Hopefully both were surrounded by great friends who cared for them and willing to help them clear their path to another.
In some way it was a truly sad tale as it was two persons unhappily married who taught the main couple how to recognize the signs of love.
A lovely tale demonstrating the pain pigheadedness and misinterpretation can cause to two persons in love because they are unable to cross the bridge another held back by their fear and pride.
A YULETIDE HIGHLANDER
Collette Cameron
Blurb : A gentlewoman afraid for her life and the Scottish warrior willing to risk all to protect her.
My review:
A sweet story of meeting the right person at the right time.
Gregor finds his life lack of excitement until a young woman, Sarah barges in his offices seeking help masquerading as a lad.
Sure, there were vilains, but the story focuses on the growing feelings between the main characters. How they become the breath of fresh air for the other.
There are few conflicts only a charming Yuletide spirit all along the tale with plenty of willing angels disguised as kind peers in a mission to bring them together.
I will add the epilogue was perfect to cheer your mind.
ONE ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS
Heather Boyd
Blurb : When Lord Clement finds himself in a marriage wager, finding a woman to love in a scant few months seems impossible…until he rediscovers his best friend’s sister.
My review :
Can two persons whom have known each other as youths become more when pressured by others.
I do love Mrs Heather Boyd work, she has a very specific writing style and while following historical conventions and rules, she gives her characters a boldness and vibrancy very specific to herself.
Despite their instant reaction to another when they rekindle, Otis and Meg do not jump to conclusion. They first must need to clear some old misconceptions.
It is a slow-burn romance taking place in the main time they get reacquainted, their chemistry evolving to more with each passing encounter.
A lively tale of love at “second sight”.
MISTLETOE AND KISSES
Sasha Cottman
Blurb : It’s Christmas and Cupid’s little helpers are busy at work. The mistletoe has been hung and now kisses await.
Will a few days be enough to make the woman he loves fall for him.
My bad, I have the first published story by Sasha Cottman lined on my shelves and like many, I forgot about it. I am glad I have finally a sample of her work. It was a sweet story of missing opportunities about two persons who love another without the other clueless about it.
Hugh is adorable in some way for a grown man, he is a clever man, alas completely oblivious of the sentiments Mary has for him, and when it is about wooing the woman he cares for, he is quite a novice.
Mary is no better at expressing her feelings as she wears her love for Hugh on her sleeves but never acted upon it. Even ready to let him go.
They were both lucky some meddling kin from Hugh’s side decided to help them to sort out their shared tenderness.
The plus of the story was the details about the traditional festivities, I loved to learn more about them, everything is so new for me.
MUST LOVE MAJORS
Samantha Grace
Blurb : Lady Ambrosia Everly promised to select a husband by Christmas, but when Major Rowland ambushes her at her parents’ house party with a claim to the stray dog she rescued, love becomes a battlefield. Soon the lines between enemies and lovers are blurred, and Ambrosia is faced with a tough decision: follow her heart or marry a man of her parents’ choosing.
My review :
Will two persons arguing about the dog’s affection find a common ground and see past their ire.
I do wondered why It has been a while since I have read a story by Samantha Grace, I do love her writing style and how she gives depth to her characters.
The sweetness of her heroes and the witty dialogues caught me from the beginning.
I loved all the side characters, and I do want to know more about them.
Phillip and Ambrosia are lovely painted, they have their flaws and needs, Ambrosia adore her family but sometime she longs for a quieter place and someone special just for her, to not share among all her kin, while Phillip follows his duty but has difficulties silencing his own guilt for surviving the war, why he secretly has other aspirations away from the battlefields.
It was such a charming tale about two persons who will answer the other’s calling.
I can only recommend to have a look to her other works.
A TWELFTH NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Donna Cummings
Blurb : Rhys has loved Grace his entire life, but their different stations in life made a future impossible. She eloped with another, but now she has returned—a widow with a young son. Can the magic of the holiday season bring Rhys and Grace together at last?
My review:
While they had dreams, will they dare to have hope and believe love to be stronger than anything else.
This was a sweet second chance take with aplenty of matchmakers whom have make their job to bring long time sweethearts together whatever the conventions are.
Grace and Rhys have loved one another all their life but how a cook daughter can love a Peer even if he is only a third son.
But now after years being estranged, as they rekindle, will society expectations be too much and tear them again apart.
In their quest to the right answer, a little boy and full of mischiefs puppy detain them but it is up to them to see beyond their own fears.
Now let me tell you what I think!

Collette Cameron Alina K. Field Bronwen Evans
Cheryl Bolen
I bought this box set because it has a story by Cheryl Bolen, one of my favorite Regency authors. Happily, it contains other author favorites too. A sure-fire holiday winner!
ONE IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION!!!
Wrapping optional! These very talented and imaginative authors not only hit the motherload, they created the tapestry, weaved the lines and mastered the scenes. One tumultuous ride with a bounty of swirling emotions bursts into play front and center. Jumping hoops, hurdling trials and tribulations along with sharp curves, clean lines and thrilling bumps propels this treasure together sleek, shiny and tight. A swirling throng of vexing contingents and a bevy of surprising events meld this baby together piece by piece. The chemistry and connection between the main characters are out of this world. So deep, so real and strong enough to bend. The characters are well developed, authentic and believable. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem picturing each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job guys, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
So I started this anthology with the intention of just reading a few of the offerings and writing my review based on those – I read Lana Williams, Collette Cameron & Bronwen Evans and I am hooked!
Unfortunately, I don’t have time to read all 13 novellas and review them by release day – so I am going to post this and then revisit it later this year when my reading schedule thins and I can do justice to this collection.
For the price – $0.99 on Amazon as of today – you cannot beat this set – I read 3 of the 13 and they were each worth more than the purchase price.
Stay tuned – detailed reviews to follow!
Thirteen authors have written stories of romance amid greenery, food, gifts and snow. Mistaken identity, lost love, friends to lovers are just a few tropes for happy endings. Be prepared to snuggle in for several hours of pleasurable reading. Recommended reading for the holidays. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I received an ARC of Winter Wishes. There are 13 books included. I’m reviewing 3 of them. For a pre-order price of 99 cents, it is a good deal.
A Yuletide Highlander – Collette Cameron
Sarah and her younger brother were hiding in London for 3 years trying to elude the man who killed their father. He was after them, trying to get a treasure chest. Sarah ran into Gregor’s shipping office one day to hide. He took them in and helped them find their grandmother who didn’t know they existed. He was so kind to them. He was a big Scottish man who even taught her to dance. Personally I fell in love with him. This was a great story.
Clean romance
One Room at the Inn – Cheryl Bolen
Charlotte Bates had been widowed when her husband was killed in war. Lord Philip Fenton had promised her dying husband he would see to her needs. Charlotte and her two small children were evicted the same day Philip arrived at her home. They met, not knowing who each other were, holding back their true identities. It was Christmas and only one room at the inn. The story tells how they came together and fell in love.
Clean Romance
Invitation to Pleasure – Bronwen Evans
Lady Georgiana was caught trying to steal back the horse, Apollo, which her grandfather had given her as a gift. Daniel caught her and was smitten instantly. Her father was abusive and using her to get a hold of her trust money.
Explicit Sex
To get 13 stores for this low price is a real bargain, for them to be good stories by good authors is a wonderful steal. These stories will remind you of Christmas Love and Hope. I did not read all the stories so far, but I will tell you about the few I did read.
One Room at the Inn by Cheryl Bolen is a nice story of a widow who loved her children and is down on her luck and is running out of money, and a man who made a promise to a friend. Philip and Charlotte meet and do not know who each other really are, but Philip has a feeling he should help Charlotte, and Charlotte has a feeling she should trust Philip. Enjoyable quick read.
Invitation to Pleasure by Bronwen Evans This is the first book I have read by Bronwen Evans and I enjoyed it. It was a nice short read for a nice afternoon.
A Rogue’s Reputation by Lena Williams is a story about Benjamin and Louisa who both want to have a good reputation and not be like their family members. It is an enjoyable read and the time went very fast while I was reading this story. I have read other books by Lena Williams and have enjoyed them also.
I can not wait to read the rest of the stories in this Winter Wishes book.
I’m not quite finished, but I highly recommend this collection of stories by experienced authors to historical romance fans. The stories are not inter-related, but some connect with one of the author’s series (e.g. Collette Cameron’s contribution). I’ve read other stories by all of the authors; the quality and style is consistent with their other works. At a preorder price of 99cents for the ebook, it is a bargain.
Cheryl Bolen’s story, One Room at the Inn, most closely reflects the spirit of Christmas as Philip aids the impoverished Charlotte and her children. His reward is enjoying their company. Other stories are more loosely tied to the holidays.
Update: Finished and still recommend highly! Enjoy.
I received an advance copy from NetGalley; the thoughts expressed are my own.
Although the WINTER WISHES anthology releases in October, I thought it could prove refreshing to read Holiday stories when it’s so hot outside. I’m reading as time permits, and as it appears the novellas are not interconnected, I’m reading all out of sequence.
Invitation to Pleasure by Bronwen Evans
Newmarket, England, December 15 th 1814
Daniel Kerrich, Baron de Winter, had been invited to his brother-in-law’s for Christmas. Daniel doesn’t like fancy occasions, he’d rather be with his horses and grow his horse breeding business. But when he catches the unlikeliest horse thief in the act, he begins to reevaluate his stand on not getting married at twenty-three. Lady Georgiana Marsh was only trying to get her own horse back, but she is surprised and pleased that Daniel understands her situation. Maybe all men are not so bad, after all. But Daniel is torn: Georgiana is a marquis’ daughter and he is but a poor baron…
Invitation to Pleasure is a rather lengthy novella, with much substance and a little drama. The characters’ backgrounds are solidly established, and while Daniel and Georgiana are immediately attracted to each other, the relationship is not rushed. They act like rational adults, even though they’re both young – Georgiana is twenty and has a good head on her shoulders – and they have heart-to-heart talks about important matters. Lady Georgiana is determined, cunning, she is very brave and loyal, but she has trust issues, thanks to her uncaring father. The dialogues are great: quite witty between Daniel and Georgiana, and touching between Daniel and his sister Rheda – you can feel the filial affection, and appreciate the loving family atmosphere.
Daniel is a wonderful hero, kind and considerate; for once, it felt like a relationship between equals without sounding anachronistic, and the intimate scene is beautifully written and apropos. Invitation to Pleasure is a lovely romance with a strong plot, where the characters communicate clearly and honestly. I truly felt that Daniel’s and Georgiana’s connection was real, they respect each other, they don’t play mind games, and it was evident that their love would last. There’s even a lovely epilogue to wrap things up. Pretty amazing for a novella!
A Yuletide Highlander by Collette Cameron
Highland Heather Romancing a Scot #7
London, December 1826
Gregor McTavish was at work when there was an altercation in front of his place of business. When he went back in, a distraught Sarah Paine had sneaked in. He sees right away that something is wrong. Sarah has been scraping by for three years in London along with her younger brother Christopher, but the villains have caught up with her. Gregor knows what they are capable of and he will help her.
It was love at first sight with Gregor! I loved his attitude, he’s kind, honourable, he has a cat, and the way he’s described; absolutely irresistible! Sarah is just as lovely: she’s had a tough time staying alive and providing for her brother. She’s far from helpless, but she willingly accepts Gregor’s help; what a joy to have a heroine who is not needlessly stubborn!
Both are sweet, charming people, with chemistry to spare, and with all the drama on two fronts, this is a very pleasant story. The romance happens quickly, it’s entirely believable due to the circumstances; besides Gregor is the cat’s meow and Sarah just as adorable. The book is wonderfully paced and all the loose ends neatly tied up. Collette Cameron again demonstrates that it is possible to write a complete story, with no plot holes and beautifully drawn characters within the confines of a novella. Ms. Cameron takes her time to weave a solid plot and craft engaging characters rather than waste pages on superfluous sex scenes. This is how I like my Regency romance!
One Room at the Inn by Cheryl Bolen
The first story of the anthology, but my third read
Evicted from their lodgings on a freezing December evening with nowhere to go, and very little money, young widow Charlotte Hale is at her wits’ end. She has to steal a coat for her son so he doesn’t freeze and is seen by the shopkeeper and a gentleman. She must find a way to reach Lincolnshire with her two young children. Then a Good Samaritan shows up and offers to share his coach. Lord Philip Fenton is travelling to Lincolnshire for Christmas. He couldn’t find his late friend’s widow, whom he’d promised to help, but in the meantime he can be of assistance to the little family he saw on the street, obviously in distress.
What a perfectly enchanting Christmas novella! While there is a case of mistaken identities, it’s masterfully handled and entirely believable. The writing is utterly delightful, in tune with the Regency era, the descriptions crisp and bright, and the dialogues sparkle with wit. Charlotte, her children, and Philip are equally charming and engaging. The romance happens quickly, but given how Charlotte, Philip, and the children spent their time together, I was onboard. Philip, “the Usurper of Gloom”, elicited a few giggles; oh, but he is adorable! One Room at the Inn is short, sweet, very Christmassy, and absolutely lovely!

One Room at the Inn by Cheryl Bolen:
Invitation to Pleasure by Bronwen Evans 5 Stars
There can be no love without trust.
Daniel Kerrich, Lord de Winter doesn’t feel at home in society so at his sisters house he sneeks away to the stables & finds a young woman trying to steal his brother in law Rufus’ new prize colt Apollo. Lady Georgiana is extremely independent & is determined for herself & her mother to escape her bullying father.
A truly lovely novella that I read in a sitting Daniel & Georgiana are drawn to each other from their first meeting but how can they trust each other. Strong characters & a very well paced story had me totally captivated. I loved it
A Rogue’s Reputation by Lana Williams:
Dared & Kissed – The Scotsman’s Yuletide Bride by Bree Wolf 5 Stars
Sixteen year old Emma Stewart has been in love all her life but he’s no idea she even exists & so she decides to steal a kiss. Finnegan MacDrummond is surprised to be kissed by an unknown woman. Seven years later & Emma & Finn are pussy footing around each other. Everyone else knows how they feel about each other but it takes some straight talking from their friends to make them see what’s in front of their noses. A well written lovely short story of misunderstandings. Characters with depth & a well paced story made for a lovely read before I slept. This novella features characters from other books so slots nicely into Breeworld
A Yuletide Highlander by Collette Cameron 5 Stars
Gregor McTavish is working & surprised when a youth dashes in. He sees that something is wrong & when three ruffians arrive he hides Sidney under his desk. Only Sidney isn’t a he at all but Sarah Paine who has been scraping by for three years in London along with her younger brother Christopher after fleeing Jamaica.
Oh Gregor! I loved everything about him – absolutely irresistible! Sarah is just as lovely, strong, independent & loving, she willingly accepts Gregor’s help. Gregor calls on his relations & friends to help. A wonderful read, we caught up with some characters from earlier books. The pace never falters & the final chapter is heart wrenching but in a good way as all ends are tied up

Miss Hathaway’s Wish by Suzanna Medeiros:

Another wonderful anthology with a baker’s dozen of well written delightful stories. Whilst I’ve not read all the stories yet I’ll be dipping into this over the coming months when I’ve a spare hour or two. The novellas are all new but some are additions to the authors’ other series so it was like sitting down with old friends
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Winter Wishes
A Regency Holiday Romance Anthology
A Baker’s dozen (13) holiday romances from some authors I have and have not read before. This is a book you can’t go wrong with at just under a dollar for over one thousand pages of holiday entertainment. Read one a night or all in one go. I have recommended the book to a number of friends and will recommend it in this review, too.
ONE ROOM AT THE INN by Cheryl Bolen:
Charlotte Hale was widowed a year ago when her husband died on the battlefield. With no money to pay the rent she trustingly agrees to ride with Mr. Fenton toward her destination – a place she hopes to find assistance.. Both have secrets, both feel attraction, both wonder what will happen and both end up rather happily surprised by the end of the story. (4.5 Stars)
INVITATION TO PLEASURE by Bronwen Evans:
Lady Georgiana Marsh has a nasty father who has caused trouble for her and her mother for decades. When her father goes to far she steps outside the law to do what she believes is right and unwittingly injures Daniel, Baron de Winter. The two have to do some fast talking and quick thinking to get the HEA they both deserve and in the process deal with her father. (4 stars)
A YULETIDE HIGHLANDER by Collette Cameron:
This was probably my favorite of the four stories I have read so far. I loved the way Sarah and Gregor meet, the way Gregor goes to find Sarah’s brother and how the story unfolds with his friends coming to the assistance of Sarah. Her backstory was harsh and sad but the eventual love she finds not only with Gregor but with others warmed my heart. (5 Stars)
A TWELFTH NIGHT TO REMEMBER by Donna Cummings:
Grace is the cook’s daughter but she and the third son of the estate were friends from childhood. When she returns with her son after her husband dies there is the possibility of a second chance for the two…if they can overcome the disaparity between their stations and societal expectations. Sweet story that was fun to read (3.5 Stars)
I enjoyed each of the stories I read and look forward to reading the rest in the future.
I enjoyed the stories I read and want to thank NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Winter Wishes, A Regency Holiday Romance Anthology is a wonderful collection of Christmas tales sure to get you in the mood for the holidays. Although there are thirteen stories in all, I have read six so far. I enjoyed the varied writing styles of Cheryl Bolen (One Room at the Inn), Lana Williams (A Rogue’s Reputation), Collette Cameron (A Yuletide Highlander), Heather Boyd (One Enchanted Christmas), Sasha Cottman (Mistletoe and Kisses), and Samantha Grace (Must Love Majors).
A Yuletide Highlander and Mistletoe and Kisses fit into other series by the authors but can easily be read as standalones. The other novellas seem to be individual stories. Some stories are more sensual than others but there is something for everyone in the collection. This is a great way to find a new author since you can’t beat the price for so many stories. I am looking forward to reading the others as thus far they have been enjoyable and very well-written.
Although I did not get to read all the stories in this collection during my ARC period, the ones that I did read, I truly enjoyed. I plan to buy the book to not only finish reading those I didn’t get to, but to re-read the ones that I loved. This book is a wonderful and easy way to read 13 regency romances. I highly recommend it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Thirteen lovely Christmassy stories published here in one anthology. Wow!
Let me tell you that it was really difficult to decide which to read first but then I decided that it really didn’t matter and plunged in….
These are short and sweet romances that build up nicely and end with a happily-ever-after and I loved each and every one!
I am not going to attempt to choose a favorite here – let some other brave soul try to do that, but I would like to recommend this anthology as a pre Christmas treat.
I received and read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and my voluntary review above is unbiased.
Wonderful romantic stories – not a boring one in this set. ENJOY
