The USA Today Bestseller Raise one last glass with the Quinn Family at the Winter Street Inn. It’s been too long since the entire Quinn family has been able to celebrate the holidays under the same roof, but that’s about to change. With Bart back safe and sound from Afghanistan, the Quinns are preparing for a holiday more joyous than any they’ve experienced in years. And Bart’s safe return … experienced in years. And Bart’s safe return isn’t the family’s only good news: Kevin is enjoying married life with Isabelle; Patrick is getting back on his feet after paying his debt to society; Ava thinks she’s finally found the love of her life; and Kelly is thrilled to see his family reunited at last. But it just wouldn’t be a Quinn family gathering if things went smoothly. A celebration of everything we love–and some of the things we endure–about the holidays, WINTER SOLSTICE is Elin Hilderbrand at her festive best.

Such a great series! I really appreciated how this last book added closure to all the drama that presented itself in this family, even if it did make me shed a few tears. I’d highly recommend this series to fans of Elin Hilderbrand or women’s fiction/family drama in general.
I always enjoy Elin Hilderbrand’s books. This one was an easy, flowing read that summed up things for a lot of favorite characters. Good reading during a time of isolation!
I have all four books in the series and lived them all. There’s family drama, family business and family fun.
I listened to the audio version of this book and I’m so glad I did. Listening to Erin Bennett calling the couple shopping for a house Masha and Raja over and over again was totally worth the listening time.
I have loved this series and was very happy with the way Ms. Hilderbrand wrapped everything up (except for the sadness, but we knew that was coming a long time ago).
I have completed a re-read of the Winter Street series. Due to reading them all in order within a shorter time frame, I felt more connected to the story and the characters. It still makes me want to visit Nantucket especially if it is the holiday season. This series showed that we all have our obstacles and struggles but with the help of family, you can get through.
4.5/5
Oh my heart, Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand is the most emotional Winter book yet, and it was a hell of a way to close out a series. We got a couple whole new viewpoints in this one which was nice, and a few of the characters are truly facing their demons. Drama! Romance! Laughter! Tears! This book has all of those things and more, and the end made me cry like a baby. I really don’t like talking about the plot of these books for fear of giving anything away, and I’m really glad I read them straight through in order without rereading the synopsis for any of them. I ended up doing them all on audio, and if you are a huge audio fan like me, I highly recommend them that way. Erin Bennett narrates the entire series, and she did such a wonderful job.
The only thing that really kept this from being a five-star read for me is that I felt like Hilderbrand tried to cram a bit too much into this length of book, and there are quite a few loose ends that left me wanting more from it. Who knows, maybe she will write another?? Either way, I still loved the book but was hoping for a bit more than she left us with. At least it didn’t end on a cliffhanger, and for that I thank her.
Loved this series, almost felt like Iike i knew these people and wanted to visit them.
I love all ELIN Hilderbrand books
Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. BUT this book isn’t worth reading. Save your money!
A well done wrap up of the Quinn family and friends from the previous three books. I am sad to see the end of this series. Hilderbrand has a satisfying way with family centered novels. The warm holiday backdrop is perfect for the’ hello again’ friends, the painful goodbyes, new loves, forgiveness and celebrations that provide closure for this family and some of their friends.
This is another great series by Elin Hilderbrand!
I really enjoyed this book! The narrator did a good job of keeping my interest. Elin Hilderbrand wrote a great story!
Great book
Everything Elin Hilderbrand writes is great! Her characters are charming and lovable & The series starring the Quinn Family is no different. You can’t put it down.
I was very happy to learn that Elin Hilderbrand decided to add a fourth book to her Winter Street series, WINTER SOLSTICE. I waited with great anticipation when it was announced that the final installment was coming. I couldn’t let go of the characters, and I wanted more. I fell in love with the Quinns because their family life is what real life is all about, especially with blended families, and I could relate to them. After all, what family isn’t dysfunctional?
Bart, the youngest of the Quinn sons and only child of Kelley and Mitzi, comes back home from Afghanistan after being a prisoner of war for two years. Since his return, the hardest thing for him to endure is knowing that his father is dying from brain cancer. Kelley is the patriarch of the Quinn family and owner of the Winter Street Inn. His time is limited, so the family makes the most of what he has left. Bart feels cheated that his brothers and sister had more time with him. He’s also contemplating what his future holds.
Mitzi, Kelley’s second wife, is having a difficult time knowing that she has to let him go and make future decisions about her life and the inn without him. Somehow, though, this family unites, especially at Christmas, which is always very special for the Quinns. It wouldn’t be normal if there wasn’t a family gathering that also welcomes their friends and guests of the inn. But this Christmas is different as Kelley is fading fast.
Although there are the usual dysfunction and family issues here, this story takes a more serious turn. With all the emotion that’s looming, Hilderbrand expertly wraps up each character’s life and summarizes what’s in store for them. Kelley and Margaret’s older children — Patrick, Kevin and Ava — are settling down. Patrick is out of jail for insider trading and is rebuilding a new business alongside his wife, Jennifer. They’ve had their ups and downs and financial struggles, but Jennifer is offered her own TV show as a successful interior designer. Kevin and Isabelle have their own business, and their family is growing. Ava finally finds her true love and is engaged to Potter. As for Margaret, it’s time to retire from anchoring the CBS News and face all the hardship she endured when she was first starting out and had to give up her family so that she could become successful.
We also revisit a few of the characters from Hilderbrand’s previous book, THE RUMOR, which I found very entertaining. Their story lines have importance, especially for Bart. This was a genius move on her part and adds reflection, making the reader feel satisfied.
Hilderbrand shines on the strengths and substance of this story, which is about family, love, courage and the will for life to go on. I knew there would be closure here, and she makes the reader feel at peace with the ending. As this is the conclusion to the Winter Street series, it would be beneficial to read the first three installments if you haven’t done so already. Once again, Hilderbrand is at her best, knocking it out of the park and bringing it home. She also demonstrates that she can write a heartfelt Christmas story. Not only is she the “queen of the summer read,” in WINTER SOLSTICE she proves that she also can be the queen of the holiday novel.
The final book in Hildebrand’s Winter trilogy, we see how the Quinn family adjusts to the return of BART, the romantic entanglements of his siblings, and the impact of Kelley’s struggles with his illness. Hildebrand gives a realistic experience, never sugarcoating the events or the emotions. As in life, we are left wondering what happens next when the story ends. The answers are left to those of us who have come to know this family to ponder.
I really enjoyed this book. Although I had not read the first three books in the series, the way “Winter Solstice” was written, I had an idea of who was whom and what was going on in their lives. It was great meeting Kelly and the entire Quinn gang. When Kelly’s life is coming to an end, everyone converges upon the inn to spend Christmas as a family. So many changes happening and I felt like I was right there with them as part of the family. Hoping that Ms. Hilderbrand starts a new series with the characters as I like to know how Bart, Patrick, Ava, and Kevin, are faring in their lives, along with Maggie and Mitzi.
it was part of a wonderful series from Elin Hilderbrand about a family in Nantucket. The characters are believable and grabbing. Read the series in order to enjoy this family experience
Not that good
