It’s the dead of winter, and a killer like no other is turning a small Wisconsin town into a death trap-one that’s closing in on Lucas Davenport.
Early Lucas, when he first meets Weather. The Iceman is killing people, trying to keep anyone from seeing a compromising photo of him with a young boy. A family is wiped out and their house burned in the dead of winter. Lucas is sent to investigate.
Good story, but light on explanation for the Iceman’s actions.
Among the best from John Sandford’s “Prey” series.
John Sanford art his finest. Must read!
No one can put you at the scene of the action like John Sandford. This is especially true if you happen to hail from anywhere near the Twin Cities. He is great at character development and giving readers an inside look at police work all of the way from crime seem to the politics involved.
I read all of his books and am a fan
I’ve read all the books in the “Prey” series and they are all fantastic.
I read this book years ago. As I remember it has a zealous, merciless killer who begins targeting his victims during the midst of a Minnesota blizzard. The investigation, accompanied by the plot twists common to Sanford works, culminates in a thrilling chase on snowmobiles. Highly recommended.
Great novel, but a disturbing plot line.
Huge fan of John Sandford’s PREY series. The characters are interesting and have shown growth through the series. Sandford is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read every PREY book and all of the Virgil Flower series. They really are page turners. I have found myself reading into the early morning (2 or 3am) to finish a book. Mr. Sandford weaves …
In addition to all of the action and intriguing characters, a clever mystery is at the core of “Winter Prey.” It’s one of the earliest Lucas Davenport novels, and especially important as it first introduces Davenport to Dr. Weather Karkinnen. The author, John Sandford, also does a masterful job incorporating the icy and dangerously cold setting …
All of his books are a page-turner suspense you must read them in order I look so forward to him writing more because I read them all
After reading Neon Prey I decided to reread the Sandford Prey books in order. Despite the fact Ihat echoes of what would happen next we’re in my mind it was an exhilarating experience. Winter Prey really hits the spot with its realistic plot which could come out of my newspaper on any day. Reading a series in order is particularly rewarding …
John Sandford books about Lucas Davenport are the greatest I have readed try one you will love it and want more
Another great Sanford book. Love this author, never disappoints
Am a big fan of John Sandford and have read almost all of the “Prey” series. I haven’t got to read the newest two. I also really enjoy the Virgil Flowers books. Great read for anyone who likes this genre.
Love all the Prey books. Have never been disappointed. Highly recommend.
One of my favorite Sandford novels.
If u like John Sanford this was not as good as some but was interesting and a decent read.the descriptions of the environment were very graphic
One of his best books. I know the area he was writing about so made it extra interesting. I couldn’t put the book down. Very good.
Another great read from John Sandford, terrific story line.
