This was a cute story about a town with mystical powers that just wouldn’t give up on two people when they’d given up on themselves. I enjoyed it and actually read it all in one day. There were a few typos, but that could be because I had an advanced reader copy. Hopefully, they will be fixed once the book is released on February 28th (just 2 days!) on Amazon.
Okay, let’s dig in. What I liked about this book:
Ten years have gone by, but Chastity has moved on with her life. Mostly. She’s bought her own business and is doing her best to make it succeed. It’s a struggle, and she hasn’t written that book yet, and she isn’t dating, but she doesn’t seem to be wallowing in missing Chase. It’s obvious she was heartbroken and still thinks of him, but she didn’t quit her life. She continued to grow and move on the best she could. When Chase shows back up she’s sucker-punched with the surprises that come one after another. I won’t tell you so as to avoid the spoilers.
The second thing that I like was that when the time came for Chase to cut the ties with Jessica (his fiance before returning to True Love) it went well. Although she sounds and looks likes she’s going to be one of those women, she’s not. I appreciated that Boyd didn’t completely follow that trope.
I loved that it didn’t just fall into place as soon as Chase said goodbye to Jessica. Marjorie is one smart woman! A little bit of time to calm down and think was needed, even if it felt like the end of the world all around. Okay, that is close to being a spoiler.
Here’s the nitpicks:
I got tired of all them feeling something/thinking something that I don’t want to right now, so I just won’t feel/think it. Several times I just wanted to say, sit down and figure it out already! You know what you want, you know what’s going on, just face up to it and own it.
And Chastity was WAY too nice. It all makes sense because that’s her personality. However, she only blew up and yelled at him once. I felt she deserved a little more than that, but what we got was satisfying.
I give Winter of Second Chances by Eliza Boyd a solid 4 with a Clean rating.

1-5 scale and what it means:
1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad
2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing
3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive
3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love
4: Solid mind candy / worth reading
4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read
5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
Movie Ratings in relation to my review:
Clean–Hallmark movies, some kissing, no nudity, no sex on or off screen
PG–Some innuendo but nothing kids don’t hear every day, sex is all closed door
PG-13–some language (swear words not related to sex), more talk about sex, heavy petting, removal of clothing on screen, but sex is closed door.
PG-14—somewhere between PG-13 and R. Not erotica, but at least a paragraph of on-screen sex
R–swearing (F-bomb, on “screen” sex, sometimes feels like the whole story is about the sex and not the relationship or some other plot, but not always
Chastity Moore and Chase Montgomery had been sweethearts the entire time they were growing up. Then they married and six months later, Chase left to chase his dream in Los Angeles and they divorced; or so they thought. Now, after ten years, Chase has returned to True Love, AZ, to get Chastity to sign their divorce papers. It seems that their divorce had never been finalized. Chase is getting married in two weeks time and he discovered the problem so he needs Chastity’s signatures on the divorce degree to make it official.
What started out as a one day trip for Chase to his hometown, turned into several days and the more time he was around the townspeople and Chastity, the more he began to see that his perfect place might not have been LA but True Love, AZ, instead. Was it possible for him to get everything he wanted from such a small town?
This is the second book in the True Love, AZ series of romances y this author. It is a sweet, clean second chance romance between two people who had misunderstood what the other wanted and without talking it out had lost a wonderful opportunity for love. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Winter of Second Chances is a sweet, small town, second chance romance. Chase & Chas, friends since age 3, married and then divorced. Wait, this is a meant to be couple in True Love. Hmmm. Turns out Chase’s lawyer discovers the divorce papers were never filed. Chase and Chastity have a lot of issues and a lot of chemistry. Only Ms. Boyd could write a story where the only place for Chase to stay in town is with Chastity! This was a really fun book to read as a storm closes the only road out of True Love. then Chase’s car won’t start, etc. Meanwhile Chase’s fiance texts or calls every twenty minutes. I have said too much, you need to read this book. It is great!
Chase and Chastity have known each other since they were 3 years old. As high school sweethearts, it seemed natural for them to get married right out of high school. Yet when they suddenly stop communicating with each other, their marriage falls quickly apart, and Chase leaves town. Now it’s 10 years later, and he’s back to get the divorce they both thought they’d filed for a decade earlier. But when Chase’s impending nuptials make it clear the paperwork was never filed, he comes home to True Love to try again. While he thinks he’s trying to file for divorce again, it soon becomes clear that True Love has other plans for him.
I have to admit, living in a small town, I love this one! There are so many elements of the fictional town of True Love that ring true for me here in my own small town.
And my heart ached for all that Chastity had been through since Chase’s departure. Yes, there were times when I wanted to smack them both upside the head and say, “Talk!” But in the end, it all worked out exactly the way I’d hoped it would.
I truly look forward to reading other stories in this series, and am happy to have received an ARC for my voluntary review.
This was a good read though it was a typical small town high school love story
Chas and Chase had been the perfect highschool sweethearts and the small town of True Love saw them get married. But soon after Chase moves to LA for better job opportunities and when he asks for a divorce she agrees. 10 yeears on Chase realises that their divorce was not registered and comes back to finalize it. From there on his life becomes a roller coaster..
Feelings of insecurities and misunderstandings become unearthed and little by little True love casts its charm on them again…
A wonderful story, warm and heart-felt, entertaining, showing the typical small-town life and its well-meaning meddlesome ways.

This story was similar to ones that have been told before: boy and girl were high school sweethearts that married too young and separated only to discover years later that they never divorced when one of them wants to marry someone else. Chase should have never been with Jessica. She seems way too high maintenance and selfish. Chastity should have spoken up more often and told Chase how she felt before she let him get away twice. This was a nice second chance romance this plenty of funny and sweet moments, but it could have been better.
Oh, Chase and Chastity were so sweet and so conflicted. They hadn’t seen each other for 10 years and when they meet up again, you could feel the chemistry, love, heartache, and longing. I felt so bad for Chastity and what she lost but then realized that Chase also had lost something. In the end, I am glad Chase stepped up and realized what he needed. I was also glad to see how Penelope and Devon were doing and that Devon did set up his construction business. I can’t wait for the next story. Crossing fingers that it’s Ryan and Olivia’s turn 😉
