So I went into this with high expectations and of course they were met! This book melted my heart, Kelsey also gets on my nerves slightly but I’ll go into that in a second.
Kelsey, I loved her personality and how cheeky and fun she could be! Also when she was with Chase how confident she was then. What slightly annoyed me with Kelsey is she was always putting herself down when it came to her body image, and that she was always comparing herself to other women which were slightly annoying, because it was like she struggled to see the good parts of herself at times. So slightly annoying other than that I really enjoyed Kelsey’s character.
Chase, oh I loved his cocky self-confidence it was brilliant! Although he was at times so blind to his own feelings for Kelsey as well as hers for him. I thought his little lessons were funny, and that they were just a really awesome couple. I loved how their relationship grew and all though they were meant to be lessons when he started getting jealous I couldn’t help but think yes! Even more so when Kelsey’s boss was around. I loved their banter with each other.
I enjoyed this story so much and of course I enjoyed seeing all our lovely side characters, I can’t wait for their books, the more we see them the more I want those books!
I loved how supportive Kelsey was of Chase’s beer making, and that she was interested in the process as well. I loved that, and the fact Kelsey even left alone time with her boss who she had a major crush on to go and support Kelsey. They are goals.
I also loved how supportive of Kelsey Chase was when it came to her family, her mother was an absolute nightmare and I loved when Chase stuck up for her and made her feel better rather than shit. He brought her confidence back up for her and I absolutely loved that! This story was so cute
The Rascals Series by Katie McCoy continues with Wingman. In this second installment, readers get Chase McKenna’s story.
Chase McKenna is tutor and “wingman” to Kelsey, whom readers met in book one, Rascals. She is Alex’s best friend and the PR savant who helped the guys launch their pub. Kelsey has image issues and mommy issues that make her less confident in the romance department. Chase is the total opposite. While he is guarded and nursing a long-time broken heart, but he is confident about his good looks and sex appeal.
Kelsey’s boss and crush, Justin, provides some of the story tension and angst. Justin is a gorgeous Brit who barely acknowledges Kelsey’s existence until Chase starts coaching her on the fine art of flirting. Kelsey’s mother, is presented as a stereotypical hag. It was overplayed, and personally, I’m getting tired of the hateful mother as the source of all problems in contemporary romances.
As Chase presents “learning opportunities” to Kelsey he finds her more interesting and irresistible. While he has a reputation as a womanizer, he is really thoughtful and chivalrous. He just keeps relationships short and shallow to avoid heartbreak. I really enjoyed the friends-to-lovers romance as well as the secondary story line of both Chase and Kelsey’s career aspirations and successes.
This series is so much fun, and the characters are great. I love the five friends who opened Rascals, the neighborhood bar, and I am looking forward to each of their upcoming stories.
Kelsey and Chase are Higgins/Doolittling it up with a flair all their own. Kelsey has been invisible to her boss Justin for 4 years, which wouldn’t so bad if she didn’t have a be all end all crush on him. His general pension for dating leggy models and the like has left her fantasizing from afar in the hopes he eventually notices what’s right in front of him. Slightly desperate he calls on manwhore extraordinaire Chase to help her gain some well needed moves and confidence to win over the picky Brit. Chase knows his rep and frankly revels in it. When Ms. Kelsey comes to him for a little bit of coaching he figures this is the perfect chance to not only help her out but also satiate his desires for her. Win-Win was all he was ever planning, but he may get an even better bargain than he was planning on.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
Chase and Kelsey !!
Kelsey has been pinning after her hot British boss for it seems like ever, although he hasn’t seem to notice her. She needs help , she needs to learn how to play the game ! Who better to help her play than a cocky hot bartender who is a player in his own right.
When she enlists the help of Chase she has no idea what she is getting herself into!
This is sexy, funny and so entertaining !!!!

The Rascals universe, filled with hot men and the sexy women who get them wrapped around their fingers, is a new favorite of mine. The playful banter gets me every time, and Wingman is no exception. I loved the way Chase took Kelsey under his wing, only to find himself becoming more and more attracted to her. I especially love when a woman who doesn’t think of herself as classically beautiful, meets a man that sees her as nothing short of gorgeous. The two had some barriers to push past, but it was well-worth it to see their relationship take flight.
A swoony and steamy friends-to-lovers romance!
Wingman has everything you’ve come to love from Katie McCoy’s romance! Laughter, sizzling chemistry, and a sexy love story!
The characters’ interaction with each other was energetic and full of combustible attraction. Their lighthearted friendship easily transitioned to a red-hot friends-with-benefits relationship that scorched the pages of the book. Although Kelsey was very relatable with her realistic qualities of insecurity and self-doubt, the real scene stealer, in my opinion, was Chase. His laid-back approach and irresistible charm was perfect and quite endearing to read. And despite him being labeled a playboy, it was his compassion, thoughtfulness, and honesty that showcased his true qualities as a deeply caring, lovable, and passionate man.
How far is Chase willing to go to help Kelsey land “the man of her dreams”? Can they go back to being just friends once that invisible line has been crossed? And will Chase and Kelsey realize the person they’re meant to be with was right in front of them all along?
A fun, entertaining, and enticing summer read, Wingman is sure to leave a smile on your face and a desperate need for the next book in the series! I can’t wait for more!
4.5 Stars!
Rascals: Book Two (I am going back to read book one!)
Love this new to me author! This is the second book in the series, but since I have not read the first one, I can honestly say that it can be read as a total standalone!
This story of Kelsey and Chase. I really enjoy romantic comedy. It’s my favorite, and Katie brings the right amount of both to this book!
The main characters are phenomenal, they have white hot chemistry. Kelsey is the embodiment of every curvy girl out there (including me!) and has the same insecurities that we have. Chase is just swoony, he is real and he too has his vulnerabilities.
The secondary characters are fantastic, you see things brewing for future stories in this series and I am going to wait as patiently as possible for them!
The dialogue is quick, funny and fresh! The sexy times are steamy, swoony and not vulgar or cheesy!
This is a page turner, I couldn’t put it down and was sad to see it end. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book by Katie, I will be sure to start stalking her everywhere. I am sure you will too, if you haven’t already after you have read this!
