Sixteen-year-old Zach discovers his mom is a fairy godmother. But what’s really freaking him out is the fact that he’s a fairy too. Now that his mom’s been injured, he must finish her assignments before the next full moon or they’re both grounded, meaning no wings, no wands, and no position in the Organization of Destiny Fulfillment (ODF). Sure it would suck to lose his newfound powers, but Zach … Zach quickly learns there’s far more at stake. Failure also means messing up the lives of the people he’s supposed to help.
Forever.
Between a fairy-trainee who happens to be the girl he’s been in love with since fifth grade, a boss he doesn’t trust, and a gremlin physics teacher that wants to eat him, Zach’s pretty sure even a magic wand can’t bail him out.

The story Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1) by Lisa Gail Green is a YA fantasy book. It is a story that I enjoyed reading. It drew me in and I found myself not wanting to put the book down until I had read the last page. I enjoyed reading about the character of Zach. He finds out that his mom is a fairy godmother and that he is a fairy as well. As his mother is injured he has to finish her assignments. The cost of failure is huge. He learns there are rules. He also begins learning about what can happen when he gets involved with those he is helping. Read this book to find out Zach’s complete story and if he successfully completes the assignments. This book was fun to read. It has action and a bit of mystery. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters introduced. They are well-developed and I enjoyed reading about their interactions with Zach. I liked that Zach is a caring person and even when situations don’t go as planned he doesn’t give up. Don’t miss out on a book that is entertaining and will have you glued to the pages. I recommend reading it.
This was such a fun read! Zach is a fantastic character – a great combination of determination and curiosity. And frustration! Can’t blame him on that – finding out he’s a fairy has to be tough on a 16 year old boy. Excellent and unique world-building makes this story a joy. This book will be enjoyed by teens and adults alike!
Winging it by Lisa Gail Green is book one in the Destiny Rules series. I really enjoyed this story. I always like reading YA books where the main character is a boy. Zach is on a journey to find out who he is and where he fits in. This book is very well written. I can’t wait to read book two of this series.
Winging It by Lisa Gail Green is the first book in the Destiny Rules series. This is a YA with the main character being Zach. He has just turned 16 and discovers his mom is a fairy godmother and he is fae as well. The story is told from his point of view which I enjoyed. He is funny and snarky at times. Even with the fae bombshell, there is even more for Zach to adjust to and be challenged by.
This is a fun start to a new series. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The story has a different premise and I like that Zach is not a whiny teen. He is a good person and rises to the new adventures in his life. I look forward to reading more from this series in the future.
Winging It is the first book in the Destiny Rules series by Lisa Gail Green. It is a young adult fantasy novel which is a genre that I’m not at all familiar with. I had never read any of this author’s work before but I liked the look of the blurb and decided to give it a go. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised as I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
Zach Slater is 16 years old when he discovers that he and his mother are both ‘fairy godmothers’. His mum has been attacked and he must complete his assignments or they will both be grounded (lose their wings, wands etc).
The book is really funny, as Zach comes to terms with his new powers and the way that others now act around him – his fairy charm means that suddenly becomes very popular and girls start to take much more notice of him, with some hilarious results. To make matters worse, one of his assignments means that he now has to work closely with Jenna, who he has had a massive crush on for years.
It has to be said that there is a really good storyline running throughout the book as Zach tries to work out who the ‘good guys’ and ‘bad guys’ are. The storyline is really intriguing and you will want to keep reading to see how it all pans out. Will Zach manage to complete his mother’s assignments in time? I recommend that you give this book a try and find out for yourselves.
Winging It ( Destiny Rules Series Book 1) by Lisa Gail Green. This is a Coming of Age fantasy book. Its the story of 16 year old Zach who finds out his mom is a fairy godmother. That’s crazy enough but add the fact he’s one too, its all a little mind blowing. When Zach’s mom gets hurt he has to take over and her assignments or they will both be grounded ie: no wands, no position, no wings. This story if full of adventure along with the typical crushes and emotions that go along with being a teen. When his crush turns out to be his Fairy trainer, he’s mortified. This story is about a teen having to grow up, follow rules and realize that people’s lives are at stake. Its a fun, young adult read with lots of twists and turns.

Winging It was such a wonderful and entertaining read – I absolutely loved every minute of it! The author had created a relay magical feel to the story and I loved her world building. Her writing style was very creative and at times it felt like I was watching what I was reading. The pace of the story was really good, fast enough that I didn’t get bored but not too fast that it felt rushed. I thought that Zach was a great character, he felt really relatable and typical for his age! It did give the story this realistic feel at times with how the author had thought and developed Zach as a character.
I can see this story being enjoyed by both YA and other readers alike – I think there is something for everybody and it is a story that I highly recommend! I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Zach’s inner ramblings had me laughing out lout and fully enjoying this storyline. I was hooked from the first chapter and I couldn’t bring myself to put it down and I ended up reading it in one sitting. I loved everything about this book, the seamless flow of the story, the connectable characters, the details, the original storyline, basically I loved everything about it!

I don’t usually read books with a male main character. I much prefer the strong female leads. I was pleasantly surprised with this novel. It was really fun to read. It is a light hearted fantasy story involving fairies, magic and adventure. It has action, humour and suspense. There was romance as well but seeing as the characters are mainly teenagers, it was filled with raging hormones and adolescent angst.
Zach finds out his mother is a fairy godmother and kind of freaks out when he realizes he’s a fairy as well. With his mother injured, he will need to finish her assignments before the full moon or they are both grounded. The next week of his life is thrown into total chaos with Zach continuously breaking the rules, getting drugged and fighting for his life. Who knew being a fairy godmother was so dangerous?
I ended up really liking Zach. He was an awkward sixteen year old who would constantly fumble around the girl he liked. He was caring and stood up for what he believed in. I enjoyed watching his confidence build by the end of the novel. The characters are great and likeable and the story is well written. This is a fantastic YA fantasy book. I’m looking forward to reading part two in the series.

Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1) by Lisa Gail Green
Winging it is the first Book in the Destiny Rules Series and a wonderfully written book that was hard to put down once I started reading. The authors style of writing grabs your attention and keeps it till the end. This is about Zach. He just found out that not only is his mom a fairy godmother but he’s one to.When she gets injured, Zach is faced with getting her assignments finished..what he didn’t know was how dangerous it could be. Find out what happens next in this must read book.i can’t wait to read more from this Author.
Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1) Lisa Gail Green was a fast moving hooking read, that left me wanting more.
Wow, like wow, I am beyond impressed with this fresh, unique, original read that I can’t even progress right now. I don’t normally read YA books with a male MC, I’m glade I took that change because I would have missed out on probably of the best reads of the year so far. Now true there are some typical YA cliché and tropes, but they were done in a way that wasn’t over powering or annoying. It was weird, because I found myself enjoying the story more with those nods. The plot was on point, witty and fun, like you can sense the danger and the urgency, but with Zach voicing the story, it had this snarky tone that just draws you in and hooks you. I loved pretty much everything about this book, and the twists and turns, man, this book keeps you on your toes.
Overall if you haven’t guessed, this book gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval. Trust me, you need this book in your life.
Happy Reading

This YA fantasy was beautifully written. The author does a wonderful job telling the tale in a way that you feel like you personally know the characters. Our main character, Zach, is a normal teen and has normal problems. Until one day he finds out that there are even bigger things for him to face. I love the universe the author has created with these characters. Everything felt tangible and relatable. Just a fun fantasy read with a fairy tale twist. Loved it.
Winging It by Lisa Gail Green is the first book in the Destiny Rules series. This book lives up to every expectation I had when I started reading it and it was so so enjoyable.
Zach is such a good character. He is fun and entertaining and yet there is more to him. It really felt like he has a depth to him that a lot of stories like this lack. It well and truly felt like it was his story.
The overall story was thoroughly enjoyable. It had s little bit of everything and was an easy page turner. This is the kind of book that you read in one sitting easily! I am looking forward to book 2.
As of late, I find myself looking for simple stories just to give the mind something to do. Winging It is one of the simple stories. Lisa Gail Green is a YA author who can grab you and keep you throughout her story. I find that the YA authors pay more attention to the small details and keep the story flowing. There is somewhat a mystery with Zach and his powers that he is trying to get used it, We follow Zach and his mom through the story so see what can happen if the fairy godmother roll really is in the people’s lives. Will Zach complete his Mother’s assignments in time or will his mother and himself be grounded? What a journey you will be on if you take the first page and run away in the story of Winging It!!!!
What a fun book this is. It’s light and angsty and funny and has fantastic world building.
It is the story about a 16 year old boy who has a life changing event happen and this the story about he he navigates then changes he is embarking on.
This is one of those stories that is light hearted and also has an underlying message about love and kindness and being a good “human being”. While I am not the target demographic, i thoroughly enjoyed this tale and look forward to reading the second book in the series.
This is a Young Adult book that I enjoyed from cover to cover. It pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me engaged until the end. It is a well written, creative story. This is about Zach who finds out that his mom is a fairy godmother on top of that he is one too. When his mom is injured, he is faced with finishing her assignments but what he didn’t realize is how dangerous it could be. I enjoyed the characters as they brought this fairytale to life. I highly recommend this book.

Winging It is the first book in the Destiny Rules Series by Lisa Gail Green. It is a really fun, light-hearted fantasy: with magic, fairies, humour, adventure, action, a little suspense, and wonderful world building. The way the ‘world’ and story were woven together, was quite cleverly done- and made the fantasy aspects seem very realistic and believable.
We meet Zach who has just had his world turned upside down, when he discovers that not only is his mother a ‘fairy godmother’- but he’s a fairy too. His adventure begins when his mother is injured, and he has to step in to take over and finish all her assignments. There is a lot at stake in this time sensitive story, and Zach will find himself tested.
I really enjoyed this charming story, even if the teenage angst, thoughts, and dialog frustrated me at times. I read it in one easy sitting- and love the way the story ended! I will definitely be reading book #2.
Thank you, Ms. Green!
Winging It is way more than I expected. This was the perfect book for me at this time. I needed something different but not too far out of my comfort zone, something gripping but not too heavy and I needed something that made me smile. This had all of that. I love the paranormal genre but it isn’t every day that I read something like this, based not on werewolves or vampires but fae. Fae in a whole new light. There were times that I couldn’t think of putting this book down until I saw what happened next and I was never disappointed. I think that if the second book is half as good as this one, then I am in for another treat and I can’t wait.

Wands, Magic and Seelies….Oh My! This is quite the story. I read the synopsis and thought this would be a fun and Interesting read. It does not disappoint. I did struggle to connect with the characters in the first half. Once the action picked up, I was able to move forward with the story eagerly which in turn had me finishing this very quickly.
I like the idea of what is happening in the story. The kid learning about his powers was cool. His luck of being stuck with his HS crush. Epic! Kids can be so mean! He doesn’t know whether to give her payback or try to kiss her. The story includes an element of danger and mystery in here as well. Let’s not forget all the imps, sprites, fairies and goblins etc. This is full of adventure and sometimes crazy characters.
I ended up really liking the book. Just that bit of hesitation during the first part. I did read the sneak peek for the next book! I can’t wait to see where life leads these two characters.
