From author L.B. Dunbar comes another steamy romance for the over 40.

Not sure how L.B. Dunbar does it, but with every single one of her ‘Sexy Silver Foxes’ books, gets better and better. Wine&Dine was a total swoon fest but it was also jam packed full of feels.
I was a little skeptical about Delores at first. But the more I got to know her, the more I rooted for her. Life had been far from kind to her and it showed in some of the choices she made. She was so strong, she had to be, but she was also a bit broken. When her brother, Denton (from Second Chance), gives her the getaway she needs, she realizes just how tired she is. Especially, of not living the life she wants for herself. A big part of her deciding to go after what she really wanted was the encouragement she got from her sexy new neighbor, Garrett.
To say the first meeting between Garrett and Delores was a mess, is a big understatement. These to did not hit it off at all. But Garrett was intrigued by the sad woman and he wormed his way into her orbit. It started small, but they started to spend more time together. and he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show her how a real man treats a woman. I loved that he saw Delores for who she was. A woman who loved the classics but had dreams of her own. He appreciated her sharp mind and giving spirit. But it was the fact that she didn’t want him for what he was, but who he was that sealed the deal. Before long for real feelings to get involved. And it scared both of them.
On a night that should’ve been magical, things got really tangled. Delores was running and Garrett was reeling and lost. He did the one thing he never planned on, chasing a woman. And what mess he walked into. Granted, it was a mess he helped create, but it was a mess he could also help clean up- if Delores would let him. I loved seeing her backbone of steel come out. She put her foot down and let her feelings be known, even if it wasn’t what everyone wanted to hear.
I can’t say enough good things about Wine&Dine. For Delores it started as a trip to escape but she found so much more than she was betting on. She found herself and a love that became her home in Garrett. And Garrett found a place and a person to call his. A place and heart to hang his future with. This story from L.B. Dunbar proves that it is never too late to chase your dreams or your heart.
Wow! I loved this book! I think Garrett is my favorite of the over 40 silver foxes. Why? Tall, dark and handsome. A businessman who’s successful and knows his mind. His constant pursuit of Dolores despite the roadblocks she put up. I see myself in Dolores, so I really connected with Wine & Dine. Dolores has always put everyone’s needs ahead of her own. Now she’s in California after her mother’s death staying at her brother’s condo on the beach. What was supposed to be a respite turns into a torrid love affair with neighbor, Garrett. And it’s sooo good! LB Dunbar really wrote some very sensual love scenes. I just really loved Wine & Dine! I will definitely be rereading this story in the future. I’d give it 10 stars if I could! 5 super stars. Thanks, LB, for your brilliance!
There are 5 other books in this series! Def check them out!
Wine and Dine is a book in the Sexy Silver Foxes Series. First off I want to thank L.B. Dunbar for writing this book. I loved it and it was nice to read about people in their late 40’s. I would also love to read a love story with them in their 50’s or even in their 60’s. There is still plenty of life in mature adults. Now on to my review for Wine and Dine. This is Dolores Chance and Garrett Fox’s story.
Dolores doesn’t even like dogs so when Wally, Garrett’s dog knocks her down and starts to hump her she is obviously upset. Of course, that was a LOL moment for me.
Dolores’ brother Denton finally comes home after their mother dies and Dolores really needs to get away. Denton sends her to his condo in California. The one-person Denton tells her to stay away from (Garrett), she is drawn to.
Garrett is a goner (for love) once he starts making exceptions that he has never made before. Like he isn’t a cuddler yet he wants to cuddle with Dolores. He has never had a woman sleep in his bed all night until Dolores, etc.
I loved this romantic tale and I can’t wait to read more about these silver foxes and vixens! 4.5 stars
This is another absolutely amazing over 40 romance by LB Dunbar, aka the Queen of the Silver Foxes!!! Dolores Chance and Garrett Fox may come from very different places but it is easy to see how they just fit! Maybe at first it was a little dicey but their chemistry overpowered their hesitation. Their journey down their very own yellow brick road is a wonderful story of how two people who are afraid to really let themselves fall in love, find with each that they have no choice. I love every single thing about Dorothy and the Tin Man’s story and can’t imagine it having gone any other way. Both characters are so relatable and lovable and real and I love that about all of this author’s characters. It makes you feel like you are taking their journey with them and are cheering them on all the way!
4 Stars
I absolutely adore LB Dunbar and am in love with her writing style. Her over forty series just keeps getting better and better. Delores and Garrett are both characters that seem to have it all together, yet are unbelievably broken. You just can’t help fall in love with these two. I laughed and swooned over this sexy silver fox.

L.B. Dunbar has become one of my favs.
This was another great read with the main characters being a little “older”. I really felt like I could identify with Dolores to a certain extent, and I loved Garrett! I will be reading more by LB Dunbar!

Loved, loved, loved this book! It’s nice to read about mature couples.
The plot was great! It was filled with love, sadness, adventure, and hotness. Never a boring moment.
The characters were great! Delores and Garrett are opposites. Small town & big city but when they are together it’s hot. Just what each other needs. All they needed to do was follow the yellow brick road over the rainbow to find their heart.
The ending is a well deserved HEA.
What does Dorothy do when she’s older and stuck in kansas?
does she still have the spunk to go on an adventure?
What if hope has dulled in her eyes and she needs a tin man or scarecrow or cowardly lion to show her that she always had the choice to change her destiny, she just didn’t know it yet?
It’s a sensitive Coming To realisation story of a woman lost in the ennui before she has even lived fully. To see a flower blooming, even a bit late, is a beautiful thing to watch and a story to read about

“Still searching for the ruby slippers, Dorothy,”he mocks, and it takes me a moment to register the reference.
“I get it.”
“But the yellow brick road doesn’t always lead to the Emerald City. And Dorothy had the power to make decisions all along.”
So did Dolores!
She’s aged before her years, too burdened with onus of her inheretance. And frankly speaking, she never had a choice. Left to take care of the Diner & Magnolia, stuck in a rut in Blue Ridge in Georgia while Denton made his life…..what could she do except drag her feet along her dismal life.
She has Smarts, Heart & Courage, just needs to click her slippers and get going on the yellow brick road!!
Fate brings her to California and life starts to change…..
She bumps into Hollow Heart Tin-man and he changes along with her.
He’s no longer the Tin Man to my lost Dorothy, but a true Wizard, making dreams a reality.
LB has a perfectly captured the mature romance market with her innate knowledge of pitfalls and insecurities of advanced age sentiments.
I especially like how her characters have REAL problems of REAL life. Beats reading unrelatable HS romances any day!! Stunner Dolores and Confused Scarecrow Garrett Fox are so relatable and true to life, I could identify with both of them at all times.
This story in particular story starts on a sad and depressed note and then the clouds clear and hope shines through. Very subtle in moods and yet very steamy, it’s like they both were making up for the lost times !!
I loved the sensibility and worldly attitude present throughout
Thank you LB for continuously churning out one smart book after the other.
3 cheers for Life After Forty !!!
4.5 stars for Smelly Wally Toto
I have really enjoyed L.B Dunbar’s Sexy Silver Foxes series and Wine&Dine is no exception. Dunbar’s books and my reading tastes have crossed paths and we’re at a sweet spot where I am always looking forward to what she will publish next.
Wine&Dine is Dolores Chance’s story. We first met her in Second Chance. She’s a woman who works incredibly hard to remain independent but time, responsibility and admittedly, some apathy means she finds herself taking stock of her life and not liking what she sees. I think Dolores represents many women; that melancholy we feel when we look back and wonder why we gave up things we loved to do. And it’s not just the big things, but the small pleasures in life that have fallen away. She is tired; drained. How did it come to this? It can be quite a sobering experience.
With a firm push from her brother, Dolores takes the chance to leave her life behind and get out into the wider world. She wants to be a better version of herself, even not knowing what that is.
Enter Garrett Fox. He is more interested in building his bank balance than in building relationships. Like any 50 year old, he’s been shaped by life experience and while his attraction to Dolores is strong, learning to trust again will take a giant leap of belief.
I really savoured this relationship. As Dolores and Garrett reveal themselves little by little, I felt invested in their relationship. I was cheering them on because I could see how good they were for each other. And let’s not forget the physical attraction, folks. These two gave us some hot and steamy times!
I haven’t read all of Dunbar’s books but for me she has found a niche writing romances for older characters. I hope she continues to do so.
4.5 stars
A favor for a friend isn’t meant to become more but when Garrett shows his neighbor’s sister around town he find himself (the confirmed bachelor) attracted in way he didn’t expect. Dolores needs to take some time to find herself, life as pushed her as far as it can running away to California she finds herself a sexy neighbor that quickly becomes more. A great love story about find yourself, becoming strong and falling in love. Loved this book.
I love when I can laugh, swoon and cheer on characters all at the same time!
My hats off to the Queen of the Over 40 Romance.
She has the smarts.
She has heart.
She has courage.
She continues to deliver!!
She is the true “Wizard”.
Steamy!
I loved reading about how mature adults can handle difficult decisions with grace and honesty. Garrett and Dolores are about as different as two people can be, but the love they find overcomes all the obstacles! I loved their romance, their passion, their kindness. Great book!
I think we’ve all been waiting on Delores’s story and it was amazing. I could even see parts of myself in her. She was a woman who had been so strong for so long. She always put everyone else first. For once she took time to herself. Never did she think she would meet someone. Garret was happy being alone until Delores felling his life. The gunman doesn’t have a heart but all it took was the right woman to help him find it again. Together They make a beautiful couple.
I love all books but this over 40 romance series has truly made me love reading more.
With her brother Denton back home after being away for decades, Dolores Chance is off to California for a well-deserved rest, courtesy of Denton in whose home she will stay. She needs that week alone to regroup, but had not anticipated Garrett Fox, her (gorgeous) next-door neighbour, to be there, nor his dog!
WINE & DINE is one of the most realistic contemporary romances I have ever read, because it’s as simple and as complicated as life itself. I love that Dolores was a sexual woman, making do with what she had as true love had eluded her. She’d settled because she’d never had time to think of herself. This is a very emotional story; most of us have met a Dolores, she is familiar to us, women. There’s a melancholy about Dolores, a loneliness, yet she never comes off as pathetic or helpless. She’s that woman whose life has somehow passed her by, where nothing went exactly as planned, who never put herself first because there was always something that needed doing, someone who needed her. The woman who was never given a chance to blossom.
WINE & DINE is the latest in L.B. Dunbar’s Sexy Silver Foxes/Former Rock Stars, and stands entirely on its own. I read After Care, and Midlife Crisis, the first two installments in the series, but not the others in between. I felt those two books were too similar, and I feared more of the same. Still I took a chance on WINE & DINE, and I’m glad I did. It is completely different, and I loved that Dolores and Garrett were so unlike the couples from the first two books. Dolores is no wishy-washy born again virgin; she’s assertive but unsure if the future she had planned is what she really wants. Garrett is a welcome type of hero, and alas, the sort we seldom see in romances: he actually knows to back off, when to offer Dolores space; he is confident without being an arrogant jerk.
Both Garrett and Dolores are exceedingly complex characters and they experience tremendous growth as the story progresses. The romance unfolds gradually, and I loved that absolutely nothing was instantaneous. There are no miscommunication or misunderstandings, what conflicts there are occur organically. I loved the interactions between Dolores and her brother Denton, which are not precisely easy. Their relationship is complicated and in some ways still tentative; they’re not used to being a family, and they have a lot to learn.
WINE & DINE is a very intelligent and adult novel, a romance with as much depth as women’s fiction but with lots of sexy times. I thought the references to The Wizard of Oz particularly clever, and some moments really spoke to me: the classic movie It Happened One Night and the tango. There are a few typos, but nothing overly distracting. The only reason I am not giving this book the full 5 stars is that I felt the writing could have been more polished; I will assume the author was pressed for time. Finally, and this has nothing to do with the story or my rating, but I read with the white letters on the black background, and for most of the book, the letters were greyish, not white. In black on white, it was perfect. Of the three books I have read in this series, this is by far my favourite.
I give 4 1/2 stars
What a Fox!
L.B. Dunbar does it again..ties me to my Kindle while reading her latest chapter in the Over 40, Sexy Silver Foxes series. When I see one of these books is coming out soon, I count down the days until I can finally get my hands on it!
In Second Chance, when we last were in Blue Ridge, Georgia, former rocker, Denton Chance, finally found his happiness after coming back to town and reconnecting with his high school crush. Since he’s been gone, his slightly older sister, Dolores, has been running herself ragged for for as long as she can remember. She’s been left alone for years to care for her sick mother, her precious grandmother and everyone else but herself all while working in and managing her own business..a diner. The Magnolia Diner has seen better days and so has Dolores, with her ratty hair and baggy clothes, she looks older than her 47 years.
After their mother passes away, Denton encourages Dolores to take the keys to his sweet Mustang, his credit card and sends her off to his beachfront condo in California for as long as she needs while he holds down the fort. Roadtrip!!!! She peals out of that town and away she goes, not looking back.
She is soooo tired, missing her mom and in need of some major down time. Add in a little wine, some walks on the beach and oh, one last wish, to be blissfully alone!
She won’t be having much peace on that walk after a huge, slobbery dog comes charging out of nowhere and knocks her down while his horrified, sexy owner tries not to laugh too hard!
Here is that neighbor her brother warned her to stay far away from..womanizer, gorgeous player with his loud overnight guests…no thank you. Garrett Fox may commanding and hot, but Dolores is not impressed..yet!
There are the only 2 condos in this building- his and Denton’s..makes it very hard to miss this guy. BUT, as they spend more time together, they discover how much fun they’re having, so they find ways to keep doing just that. One thing leads to another as Garrett brings Dolores into his more glamorous world, working his way under her skin and into her heart. Is she alone in these feelings? A man like him wouldn’t find her attractive, would he? Can the player who had his heart broken to bits years before face these new feelings after all these years alone?
What a story! In the magical California sunshine, Dolores is restored and transformed and slowly comes back to life but can this newfound happiness last as home calls her back?
L.B. Dunbar makes silver sexy again, as she always manages to do, with funny, wish you were there moments, encounters with some foxes from previous books, page turning, steamy excitement for the often neglected older romance seekers and maybe some happy tears along the way.
Hope the wait for Giant’s story is short and sweet and we end up back in Georgia sooner rather than later! Recomend this one!!!
As always, LB Dunbar creates romance for us over 40 crowds that just wow you. When we last left Dolores in Second Chances, she was driving off. We all speculated who she would end up with when it came time for her story. The blurb will tell you that she didn’t end up with who we expected her too, but am I disappointed? Not in the least because it also means that there will be more for us to come in this beautiful world of older men and women, everyone having their own crosses to bear, little bits of themselves that are broken and need mending and LB giving us beautiful happily ever afters. We know Dolores is just plain tired…she’s had to keep up and hold her family together sometimes by sheer will alone. She soon finds out that taking that break is easier said than done. Meeting Garrett shows her that not only that the life as she knew it was stifling her but that in the end, she deserves so much more. Garrett has his own share of misgivings and demons to slay but when the two of them come together, there are beautiful fireworks indeed. “Incredible, insatiable and unbelieveable” are words that were often used in this story and they describe the story beautifully. I absolutely adored the Wizard of Oz references and the cameo’s by some of her other characters (not tied to the over 40 crowd). The Tin Man is my current favorite book boyfriend and I defy anyone who tries to take him away from me!
Dolores has had a hard time of it when her brother nudges her into taking him up on his offer of his condo, his car and his credit card, so she can take a much-needed break. Dolores had been taking care of their mom for years now, while Denton (her brother) was off touring the world and becoming a rockstar. So now he is feeling guilty (rightfully so) and decides to give Dolores the time she needs to recuperate. When Denton’s neighbor’s dog literally runs into her, it’s the start of a beautiful thing between Garrett Fox and his Dorothy (Dolores). Or it could be, if these two broken people can allow each other in.
I confess that I haven’t liked all of L.B. Dunbar’s romances for the over 40 set, but I loved Wine&Dine. Garrett and Dolores are layered and substantial, and their chemistry is FIRE! I love how their story played out, how the playboy was brought to his knees by a very, very special woman. And she was special, so special. In fact, she was my favorite part of this story aside from Wally, the matchmaking dog I love how strong she is, and how she slowly let Garrett into her life and her heart. If all of L.B. Dunbar’s coming romances for the over 40 end up being this great, I will be reading them all!
Dolores needs a break from her day to day life, especially after her brother Denton comes back into town after being away for 27 years and losing her mother. So when her brother offers up his California condo, she hesitantly accepts.
While in California, Dolores meets her brothers gorgeous neighbor, Garrett Fox. Garrett knows he shouldn’t get involved with his neighbor’s sister, but he also can’t resist her. The two of them are drawn to each other and the more time the begin to spend together the more that attraction builds.
I loved the chemistry between Dolores and Garrett. There were definitely some hot moments between the two of them throughout the story. They both had their own insecurities when it came to being in a relationship, but they are amazing at constantly being there for each other and reassuring each other. Garrett is one swoon worthy silver fox when it comes to how sweet, kind and romantic he is. Plus, the man likes his toys in the bedroom.
This story can be read as a standalone, however, I feel like you get a lot more from it when it comes to the side characters and some of Dolores’s background if you’ve read Second Chance, which is Denton’s story.
Definitely a MUST READ book.
Just an amazing story by LB! I’d give it a million stars if I could!
Meet Delores, stuck in a rut in her town, running her diner, and just not really living life. When her brother offers her an escape to stay at his place in California, she takes him up on it. When she’s there walking on the beach, she’s knocked over by Wally, who she finds out is her neighbors dog. She doesn’t like dogs, and she’s not happy with her temporary neighbor Garrett. He’s a hot over 40 guy who she’s attracted too, he’s been burned before and is afraid to get to close.
Follow along with their story, as they discover their feelings, hopes and dreams of the future! Grab this asap!!!
