I have come to love a visit to Lantern Beach and Winds of Danger is no exception. This novel focuses on Wes and Paige who readers have met in previous books. Wes believes he sees an ex-girlfriend around Lantern Beach and some strange things start happening. Readers will definitely get drawn in as Wes and the rest of the Lantern Beach gang search for Wes’ ex before she causes him more grief and harms someone he cares about.
I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Finally, we get to read the story of Wes finding happiness in a relationship in the 4th installment of the Lantern Beach Romantic Suspense Series, but it sure isn’t smooth sailing! Paige came to Lantern Beach to escape a bad relationship and estrangement from her family. Police Chief Cassidy hired Paige to work at the police station and she began to develop friendship and feel comfortable again. Then she caught the eye of Cassidy and Ty’s friend, Wes. Wes also has a past that has made him leery of starting a relationship, but the two are drawn to each other. Just when they are letting their guards down, some scary incidents occur and Paige relaises she doesn’t know who to trust. Is Wes being honest with her? Can she trust him or is someone from his past telling the truth? When Wes tries to prove that he has her best interests at heart, he oversteps and ends up making Paige angry. Danger, questions, divided loyalties, the past brought to the forefront, will Wes and Paige’s blossoming relationship survive it all?

Love Christy Barrett books.
I had a free advance copy of this book, but this is a voluntary and honest review. Christy has written another great book! I enjoyed the characters and the story line. The mystery and danger are always good in her books, as well as the hint of romance. I would highly recommend this book.
Sometimes I feel like a broken record saying over and over again how every book I read by this author is AMAZING! Yet it’s true! Whenever I hear there is a new book out by Christy Barritt I know I’ll enjoy it and not be able to put it down until I’ve finished it. WELL, this story keeps that thinking going.
From the very first page to the very end I was captivated and pulled into the lives of each of these characters.
We finally get to read hunky Wes’s story! He’s a fix-it guy and tries hard to fix whatever he sees broken. Unfortunately, he can fix everything. When he meets Paige he feels there’s some deep hurt in her life but she’s not sharing it with him. He also is hiding a part of his past from everyone. Can the two overcome the issues in their past and start to trust each other enough to build a relationship? Or will the past come deadly close to breaking them apart?
Christy Barritt is the kind of author who weaves her stories with so much action and suspense that your heart pounds and you find yourself suspicious of everyone around you, even your own family. Her books are the kind you don’t read at night, or you’ll never get to sleep. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE THESE BOOKS!
If you like twists and turns, who done it stories, then you need to buy this book! It will keep you on the edge of your chair. I actually couldn’t put it down! Of course, I also didn’t want to go to bed until I found out what was really going on!
Another thing about way Christy Barritt writes is that she does a wonderful job sharing the hope we can have to be a victor not a victim through the grace of God. To be strong and not let fear and the past overcome us.
I highly recommend you reading this book. I received this book from the author and all opinions are my own.
“Define ‘crazy’.”
Attractions can be fatal. Wes O’Neil is barely holding out hope that his past has not arrived to haunt him, when a series of coincidences begin to mar his peaceful existence on Lantern Beach Island. He loves the life he is building there; and maybe, just maybe he is beginning to love Paige Henderson.
Paige Henderson is crushed when the man with whom she has begun to imagine a future is accused of terrible things. Should she turn and run, or stay and fight? A very new friend gave her this wise advice.
“Sometimes, the most rewarding thing we can do is to go against the current. It’s challenging. It’s hard. But you can make your own way. . . . . and sometimes that’s exactly what we need to do.”
The winds of danger blow once more over the sands of Lantern Beach through-out this riveting tale!
I love all of the Lantern beach books. But this one just didn’t compare. Maybe the plot is growing old now. It just bored me.
I’ve been following this book series all the way through. The whole time I was hoping that the character, Wes O’Neill would find the right woman. He’s met new islander, Paige and really enjoys spending time with her. But when a nightmare from his past shows up on Lantern Beach will that be a sign for Wes to back away from Paige?
Winds of Danger by Christy Barritt packs a deep punch for as little as the novella is. The tension runs throughout the whole story, and Barritt doesn’t let up. The romance fizzles and sparks between Wes and Paige. It is definitely one for the books with fans of the Lantern Beach series. But . . . this is a plot with a crazy ex-girlfriend who tries to kill Paige so she can be with Wes. It is predictable, and the ending happens pretty quick. It is a plot idea that has been done in movies and books a lot, so I wasn’t that thrilled to read it again. Even though Barritt does a fabulous job at bringing the story to life, I, personally, just didn’t quite like this one as the previous ones written by her. But don’t take my word for it, go read it yourself.
What a suspenseful and fast paced read! It was great to finally get Wes’s story. He’s been a steadfast friend to the other Lantern Beach residents and I was so happy to get to know him even better in Winds of Danger.
Wes has finally found a wonderful woman, Paige the new police dispatcher. Things are new, but going well until his crazy ex-girlfriend shows up and starts stalking, terrorizing, and playing mind games with them. Trying her best to tear them apart.
Wes and Paige are such a great couple who compliment one another really well. I was on the edge of my seat, worried for them. I zoomed through the pages, racing towards conclusion and hoping for a happy ending for the pair.
Winds of Danger is another great romantic suspense from Christy Barritt.
Lantern Beach, a beautiful, small coastal community that can’t escape large city crimes! Wes and Paige have been friends and are considering becoming more than that, when suddenly mysterious things begin to happen – smashed windshields, holes in kayaks, even being run down by a motorboat! Can a ghost from Wes’ past be behind this? Is Wes actually the one who is doing this or is he the target? Another great read from Christy Barritt!
Finally, fans of the Lantern Beach series hold Wes’ story in their hands. Enjoy the latest edition to Christy Barritt’s cozy mysteries set on the eastern island and learn what happens next.
Wes meets new police dispatcher, Paige, who awakens interest that his friends have never seen. Both have troubled backstories which add difficulty to the relationship, but none more serious as Wes’ stalker ex-girlfriend. Her attempts at revenge are deadly and crafty. No one can find her but must before she strikes next.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
This is a nice addition to her Lantern Beach characters series. We get to see Wes’s story in this book and his past that keeps catching up with him. It’s a quick, light read and I wouldn’t mind seeing another book that delves into Wes a little more. He’s a good character but I felt like the book moved so quickly, we couldn’t get a good feel for him and for his relationship with Paige. But overall, I enjoyed it and it was a great evening read!
