When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she’s finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling … selling his grandparents’ property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him “get his head straight.” The last thing Will expects is to fall in love… with his hometown and with Annie. But Will’s life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie’s love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

This book drew me in and I was quickly involved in the character’s lives, and wanted to read the next in the series.
Liked it so much I just bought the next in series. Very entertaining read.
Absolutely the best book I’ve read in a long time. Deals beautifully with PTSD, injured veterans, and environmental issues while having a compelling story which is never preachy.
Will definitely read the following books in the series…..
Good read
When you need a happy ending and light reading
A Little Boring
charming
A ‘feel-good’ book.
It was a bitter night out and I grab up the book and couldn’t put it down.
This book is so much more than a romance. The storyline is the other side of headlines. The affect of trauma on survivors . It’s surprising and compelling. It’s compassionate and eye opening.
This was an easy enjoyable read but pretty predictable ending. Can already tell what the next one will end like before reading. Would rather have some surprises to make it more interesting.

A great bed-time easy read. The main character’s 8 year old daughter was the only survivor of a second grade school shooting. The story is wound around what she endures every time a car back-fires or a firecracker goes off and how a man brings both her and her Mom peace in their new surroundings. A light love story.
I really enjoyed this book! The writing was delightful and so were the characters.
Keep on reading, it gets better all the time. It includes also some nice psychology as her daughter slowly manages to get better having experienced a traumatic event.
Good book
I enjoyed it. I want to read more in the series.
This is a somewhat predictable romance, but when you add a child sufferinf from PTSD to a hero with similar issues, it bocomes something far more than a simple romance. I liked it very much.
Read the series loved it
Enjoyed reading about the journey of healing and determination of the characters to reach their goals/dreams.
