When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she’s finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling … selling his grandparents’ property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him “get his head straight.” The last thing Will expects is to fall in love… with his hometown and with Annie. But Will’s life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie’s love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

I loved the characters and the lives they were living on this small island town. It takes place by the Chesapeake Bay, which is in my home state. I could imagine I was there as I read the story,
Each chapter made you want to continue reading, to discover more about each character in the book. They all became friends of yours, and you rooted for a happy ending for all of them.
I now have that island on my bucket list to visit! I love quaint places where family and friends and community is all that’s needed to make a worthwhile life.
Although predictable, I enjoyed this light romance with engaging characters. Light reading, tugs at the heart strings.
I liked it because of predictable ending.
Sweet story with a happy ending!
Great character development, charming book, didn’t want it to end.
A good read, liked tbe cjaracters and tge story. Will definitely read tbe rest of the series.
Loved it beginning to end
Sensitive details re PTSD
Great book!
I was entertained until the very end.
Lovely story.
3.5 Tinkling Stars. It looks like this is a book that you are either going to love or hate. What do I think? This is truly a delightful story! Is it the best I’ve ever read? No. Does it have a deep and meaningful message? Not really. Will it change your worldview? Definitely not. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t entertaining, fun, and worth reading.
The storyline revolves around two people suffering from PTSD. One is a Navy SEAL, the other is an eight-year-old second-grader. Both are on Heron Island to heal. Well, at least Taylor, the second-grader is, Will, the SEAL, doesn’t realize how much he needs to heal. He is just on Heron Island to get his grandparent’s inn ready to sell so he can get back to the SEALS. Taylor and her mom, Annie, are new to the island. Will is a hometown boy, he grew up on the island but left ten years ago and never looked back. Now that he’s home the locals want him to stay.
Sophie Moss is able to make you feel like you are one of the locals and have a stake in the relationships between Annie, Taylor, and Will and all of the happenings going on in Heron Island. While PTSD plays a major part in this story, Ms. Moss does not delve into it deeply and use this book to educate you on the subject. You do get some enlightening on the emotional and long-lasting toll it takes on an eight-year-old yet how resilient children can be. This is a light tale, but it’s not a fluff tale. I truly enjoyed it!
Heart warming story but also so relevant – school shooting, military vets and PTSD, and a wonderful world of well developed characters who care for each other. Highly recommend.
This book was offered free on both Kobo and Amazon (and still is). Beware, it will grab you and not let go until you finish it! This story is just so engrossing, yes it is a romance but it is much, much more. You will love little Taylor and want to hug her for what she has gone through, her mom Annie deals with it so well and then you throw a hunky man into the mix (although with his own problems) you get a great book. I would just picture the island, the old Inn in need of repair, the café with the windchimes all around. Read it, you will not be disappointed! I can not wait to read the 2 books that follow it!
Sweet story with a backdrop of sadness.
Absolutely loved this book!!! It had me on my toes the entire time! Definitely an emotional roller coaster
I enjoyed this book & the only reason for a 4 versus 5 rating is that it may have been a tiny bit too predictable in the plot development. That said, I would recommend Wins Chime Cafe.
An inspiring story with wonderful characters. A strong woman with an independent spirit who must change her goals in order to make them work for her best outcome.
Wind Chime Cafe is book 1 in the Wind Chime series. This book is about Annie and Will. Annie is a single mum that moves to Heron Island after her 8 year old daughter goes through a life altering experience that no child should ever have to experience. Will is a navy SEAL and has come back to his family home to sell it. He has been suffering after his last deployment left him with guilt that won’t go away. Will Annie and her daughter be able to make him stay or will Annie’s past come back and make him think it was all a ploy to get him to sell his family home. One click you won’t be disappointed.
This book is a great read!
