When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she’s finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling … selling his grandparents’ property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him “get his head straight.” The last thing Will expects is to fall in love… with his hometown and with Annie. But Will’s life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie’s love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

Love these sweet small town characters who are resisting falling in love. Predictable but a fast fun little story.
I thought that the theme of the wind chimes was creative and lovely. The story flowed well and the characters seemed real. I would read another book by this author.
A quick read with likable characters, but fairly predictable. I enjoyed it, but not enough to read the sequel.
Blending life
Sweet love story, likeable characters in a fun setting
A sweet read. Wonderful stage set plus interesting and fulfilling character development. Very enjoyable read!
Very good read.
Such a sweet story of redemption and strength. Brought tears to my eyes!
Enjoyed every word. Beautifully written and well edited. The characters and the conversations were natural and believable. I loved it.
Interesting. At first I thought it was a little slow and would be predictable, but the author did a nice job handling the issues of school shootings and PTSD. The book takes place over the course of just 3 months, though, which I thought was a time period too short for the events that took place. Interesting twist at the end.
I enjoyed this book. The characters were believable and it had a happy ending. I would definitely recommend reading this one!
Charming
Annie escapes to the quiet promised on Heron Island in the Chesapeake Bay with her traumatized grade-school daughter who was the sole survivor of her second grade class in a school shooting; however, Annie’s business plans are upended when development plans for a tourist attraction evaporate and she falls for the handsome homeowner whose property will not be sold to the developer. Then, when the developer turns out to be the absentee father of her traumatized daughter, Annie’s life becomes even more complicated. A sweet story of community, relationships, and romance.
Excellent
A v good read
Easy read. Predictable. So so. Story. romance. Simple.
Good summer read, better written/edited than most. Sweet, if predictable. I felt the “patriotic” revenge motif was overplayed.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I wanted to read Book #2 right away and realized there was a #3 to the series.
I like this book. It kept my interest and I found myself rooting for the characters
