When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she’s finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling … selling his grandparents’ property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him “get his head straight.” The last thing Will expects is to fall in love… with his hometown and with Annie. But Will’s life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie’s love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

I had to read the whole series, one after another! Enjoyed the characters and needed to finish the series.
Beautiful story of a single mom struggling to do everything right for a daughter traumatized by a school shooting. Sensitive and heartfelt. Well written too. Worth reading and one for my re-read pile.
Great characters.
Amazing story.
Captivating setting.
Emotional read.
Loved it!
One of the best books I’ve read in 2018. So good I read it twice. The relationships are beautifully built and I teared up multiple times in the book (not much of a crier usually). The little girl and her dog was enough for me, but the book gives so much more.
What a great book!!! There are not to many books that I feel deserve more then 5 stars but if I could I would give it 10. Sophie Moss has definitely got my attention to read all her books. She was a new author to me, but now that I read this incredible story I can’t wait to read more.
Ann is making a fresh start for herself and her daughter on a small island. Will who hasn’t been back to the island in years comes back to close the sale of his family property. They both find themselves going into opposite directions of what they planned. Very interesting characters appear and things change. Loved the book and would read more by her.
I loved this book so much that I immediately downloaded the next two books in the series and read those. Can’t wait for the next one. These books are “chick flicks” in writing. Happily ever after, romance without describing each sexual detail. These books also grapple with issues our country is currently struggling with: how to reintegrate wounded vets to society, women abused by powerful men and the challenges of single parenting.
enjoyed this book read it straight thru
Thought it started slow but really enjoyed it and the other 2 in the series.
This nook is amazing, heart felt!!
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were fun and I am excited to try a few of the recipes. Not sure about all the cranberries.
Please read this charming, well-written book. The story involves a hardworking single mother who moves to a small eastern shore town to protect her young daughter who had survived a school shooting. It shares how they open a restaurant, become enmeshed in the life of this welcoming little town, and their complicated relationship with the veteran suffering from PTSD. This book is a joy.
Nice light summer read.
Wasn’t fond of the explicit sexual details or the way Will acts like Annie is just a piece of ass right from chapter 1.
A real lovely story!
