When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street café on Heron Island, she thinks she’s finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the café into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling … selling his grandparents’ property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him “get his head straight.” The last thing Will expects is to fall in love… with his hometown and with Annie. But Will’s life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie’s love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

It’s a OK read. Entertaining. Maybe a bit light.
Enjoyable, a little suspense and happily ever after
A story about what our world is like today with gun shootings at schools and our wonderful military coming back from war with PTSD.
A very sweet story about a mother looking for a new start for her daughter and finds happiness for herself too.
Really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed reading this book, because it seemed a little more realistic than other romantic novels I have read. The author did a good job of protraying the emotion of the singke mother. The author also brought a sense of wisdom to the main character, which I found refreshing. It was an easy and delightful book to read.
Loved this book!
I liked that the author kept the story light, but still touched on a very real and relevant issue with the school shooting. I look forward to reading more in the series for sure. Love all the characters too!
Believable characters, realistic storyline. There were times when I was moved to tears. Clean reading with no bad language.
A nice contemporary romance!
This formula romance is heavy on topics addressed: 9/11, school shootings, OW. But it still manages to provide a satisfying HEA, it doesn’t flounder or stall during flashbacks, and it has great characters. I am looking forward to Will and Annie’s journey in the next books in the series, and looking to see how other character relationships …
Ugh!! I didn’t get very far in this book before I deleted it in disgust. Maybe if you’re a 50 Shades fan who likes a protagonist who’s drawn to someone sexually even while the guy’s aggressive, un-politically correct behavior would warn others to run away fast, then go for it. Even worse is “hearing” the man’s caveman thoughts. Not for me.
Very enjoyable easy summer read.
Read this novel to get away from reading too many mystery novels where women are the victims. Nice escapism
I enjoyed the book. It had some twists and interesting turns.
This story actually encouraged me to purchase the next two in the series.
Love it. It made me cty
Easy read for fun. Very predictable no brainer.
A lovely surprise! I went on to buy the other two books in the series, I look forward to Grace’s story.
Really good for a cozy mystery
Loved every page of it!
