This is perfect when you’re in the mood for slightly OTT funny, but with a bit of a serious side too. The set up (like most “fake marriages”) is a little hokey – but once that’s established it’s a lot of fun. Will & Patrick are unique characters bringing their own baggage to this impromptu marriage. Small town residents, including Will’s family and his ex, are all looking to give their opinions and advice.
I love John Solo’s narration. He has distinct voices & mannerisms for a huge cast of characters. It’s a fabulous production.
I really liked this book/saga. Both characters were realistic and had to come to terms with the relationship in their own ways. It was good. I recommend it.
I quit reading at chapter 31. For awhile, I was entertained with how the two guys worked on their very obvious personal flaws and reluctantly realized they were good for each other. The graphic sex just got boring. And I just didn’t care what happened to them. Sorry. Another reader might have a different opinion.
There were times when I got so frustrated at this book. Will’s friends and family seem to be the ones pushing him over the edge or causing him to doubt his own feelings. They both grow during their marriage but to watch the changes in Patrick was great. I was so relieved when feelings were revealed only to have more craziness. It was great to finally have a good ending.
I listened to the audio version which was well done.
I love this story, it was fun, heartbreaking and intense.
Will and Patrick had a drunken marriage but has to stay married, following them on their journey to a happy ending was joyful.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Dialogues are fun, sad, happy and all the nuances of emotions
Intense love scenes
Meddling family members, supporting friends and a bad ex boyfriend makes this story never boring.
5 great stars for a wonderful entertaining mm romance
This was THE BEST book I have ever read!
5 stars
Heat Level: 4
Narration: 5+
All the feelings!!! I loved Will & Patrick!
Episode 1: Will & Patrick Wake Up Married
A great start and a funny take on a vegas wedding. I liked the backward way about this series in that they get married and then have to fake being ‘really’ married. It makes for some hilarious moments and surprising twists. I really loved the way these characters were introduced and fell for both Will and Patrick from the get-go!
Episode 2: Will & Patrick Meet the Family
A funny take on meet the parents with some fantastic characters thrown in; I love Will’s Grandma and ‘original housemate’. While Will’s mother frustrated me to no end, I really hope she improves and Will can finally stand up for himself. I really enjoyed the simmering tension and chemistry brewing between Will and Patrick and I can’t wait for it to explode!!
Episode 3: Will & Patrick Do the Holidays
Finally, the sexual tension explodes and lights the pages on fire!!
I felt for Will and Patrick throughout the holidays, as Patrick faces feelings he never felt before, and WIll faces his d*#k-headed ex who just keeps on causing/abusing Will at every turn. I hope Will can finally move past all this and find something better with someone he’s married too. P.s. I also loved the approach to Patrick’s ASD spectrum; it’s well done, addressed and respectful on the spectrum!
Episode Four: Will & Patrick Fight Their Feelings
I was surprised how deep and dynamic the pair became and as their relationship adds some serious heat, emotions become entangled and they both face some new challenges. I loved Patrick’s character development over these last few episodes and seeing him fall in love for the first time was wonderful. I enjoyed learning so much more about him and his past, my heart broke.
Episode Five: Will & Patrick Meet the Mob
They meet the Mob with a bang, some serious stress, and a dangerous decline for Will. The Mob elements were hard to fathom throughout this with Will being who he is. His father was better than expected and thankfully Patrick didn’t take any crap from such a dangerous man. All in all, I was thankful for Will finally standing up to his mother as she definitely needed a what for and it couldn’t come soon enough. I was saddened by her attitude and interference and overall opinion of Will. She didn’t even try to know him. He is more than his disease and addiction!
Episode Six: Will & Patrick’s Happy Ending
Oh, my heart! A powerful, sad but wonderful ending to such great characters! I really enjoyed the journey and while I hated the ‘separation’ I understood. I loved Patrick’s countdown and his need to help Will however he can. With a devastating loss for one of his patients, we were able to finally meet Patrick’s family and thankfully Will and Patrick were able to face, acknowledge and accept their feelings and start/continue their unique connection and relationship. A wonderful HEA and there is just so much more to these two than meets the eye!!!
Fantastic narration for such wonderful characters! I loved it all!!!

Loved this whole series!
Entertaing read. Probably too long but easy read. Laugh out loud at times. Read like a series script.
Love this book series! Have read episodes 1 thru 4 and don’t want the series to end. Funny and romantic, great characters who have funny conversations, steamy bedroom scenes and a kooky plot. Just a fun romp! Will be looking for more from these authors.
I’ve read the whole series, one book right after the next, after the next. They could have used a proof reader for better continuity. There’s a bit of gratuitous sex but not too much. It’s basically a normal relationship tale you could imagine happening with someone you know
This was a well written book, interesting characters and captivating theme. You can actually feel their emotions and would recommend reading this. Author did a wonderful job!
4.5 stars-
Not going to lie, at the start, I wasn’t so sure this story would be a good fit for me. The characters and characterizations felt overblown, the story a bit silly, and quite frankly, I didn’t really care for Will or Patrick at first glance. I was wrong, so wrong. The hype is deserved. The good thing about longer books is time is on the author’s side. As the story and characters had time and space to develop, things came together and I found myself completely hooked less than a third of the way through. Will and Patrick Wake Up Married ended up being a fantastic listen and one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
My first impression of Patrick wasn’t the best, but by the end he was a favorite (as in ever, not just within this book). I liked that readers get to see Patrick develop beyond his initial egocentric, socially inept persona. I liked that we were given an opportunity to learn and understand where he came from and why he was the way he was. And I LOVED that I got to see how having a place to belong exposed parts of Patrick he fought to keep hidden without changing him as a person. As the book closed, I found those moments that bugged me at first endearing, because I now knew him and loved him. I found Will difficult to like for a completely different reason. Whereas Patrick was abrasive, Will was a pushover. I’m not a fan of doormat characters and it irked me to see Will defer to so many people in his life, most especially his ex. As with Patrick, time gave me a new view on Will. However, I think it was Will’s development and progression, gaining confidence and asserting himself increasingly, that really changed my opinion…and it was an awesome thing to witness. Rarely do I see two “meh” characters make such a turnaround, but here they did. Not only did my understanding and appreciation for them evolve, but both Will and Patrick substantially changed over the course of the book and I loved that it happened slowly. As a reader I don’t mind working for my happily-ever-afters, and that’s what it felt like in Will and Patrick Wake Up Married. Nothing is rushed, everything is earned.
As much as I liked these two men’s individual development, I really enjoyed them together. Their romance was a bumpy ride that went a little sideways at times, but it hit on every emotion. It was fun and made me smile and laugh…a lot. There was a surprising level of heat that felt natural rather than just a plot device to create buzz. And there were plenty of sweet, swoonworthy moments that had me sighing. Heck, I even cried a couple times because I was so emotionally invested in these men. Simply put, I grew to adore Will and Patrick and had an increasingly hard time turning the audio off. The narrator was a perfect match, injecting emotion and personality into every scene as well as delivering some blistering hot moments. If you love quirky characters or odd love matches are in need of humor and heat, Will and Patrick Wake Up Married is a must read or listen.
I’m so happy that Leta Blake and Alice Griffiths complied all six serials into one bundle. This is the best way to enjoy the tumultuous and zany relationship that Will and Patrick find themselves in after one drunken night in Vegas. The plot of the book is pretty basic: Will and Patrick get drunkenly married in Las Vegas after only knowing each other for a few hours. They have to stay married because Will’s father is in the mob and the mob has a strict no-divorce rule otherwise Will could be disinherited and Patrick may be murdered. The premise is a bit outrageous, but it’s needed to propel the plot forward and keep Will and Patrick together. And really, once the story really gets started, the mob aspect of the plot fits in pretty well.
I enjoyed this book; the audiobook was my running partner for three days in a row, which is proof to how engrossed I was with the story and characters. However, there were some issues: first, since this book was originally a serial, sometimes the plot line doesn’t feel as tight and sharp as it could be. Certain scenes or themes seem to be dragged out and feel a little repetitive. Second: I wanted to smack Will and his family on multiple occasions. Will’s family is the picture of dysfunction and it’s no wonder Will has had such low self-esteem issues all his life. BUT, don’t let these issues keep you from the book, because, believe me, the last half of the book becomes incredibly satisfying.
I liked the first part of the book. The first two episodes (Will & Patrick Wake Up Married and Will & Patrick Meet the Family) do a really good job of setting the scene, introducing us to the characters, and establishing how cute Will and Patrick are together. The third episode (Will & Patrick Do the Holidays) is the point of when I truly fell in love with Will and Patrick and was squealing with delight. Plus, the sex was INCREDIBLY hot as well as heartwarming and tender. All these feelings just started happening in the middle of all this dysfunction, and oh my — it just perfect. Episode four (Will & Patrick Fight Their Feelings) felt like one of those romantic comedies where both characters are perfect for each other, but they just need a good shake to get them to see reason. Episode five and six (Will & Patrick Meet the Mob and Will & Patrick’s Happy Ending) packed in a lot of action and character growth, which was what I had been rooting for since I realized how badly Will viewed himself.
The real MVP of this series is Patrick, who is hands down one of my favorite characters ever. No nonsense Patrick, who is brilliant, rude, and an atypical romantic. Watching Patrick fall in love was wonderful.
I owned the first three serials on Kindle, but it wasn’t until I listened to John Solo’s narration of this audiobook that I truly fell in love with the series. John Solo is an incredible narrator who not only voices his characters, but embodies their spirits in the performance. I truly believe the reason why I felt so irritated at Will when he put himself down or cheered when Patrick confessed his love, was because John made the characters feel real. I was deeply invested and cared for these guys, and felt their emotions thanks to John’s performance. The production of the audiobook was well done, and I highly recommend it. Overall, this is a really fun story that has both humor, angst, and a lovely happy ending.
Audio Review
Overall 5 Stars
Story 5 Stars
Performance 5 Stars
OMG, John Solo’s performance is fantastic!
I have heard so many good things about the Will and Patrick series, and it’s been on my TBR list for quite a while. When it finally came out as an audiobook, I couldn’t wait any longer to read it.
I think this is one of those stories that I might not have liked nearly as much if I’d read it. The writing and story are great but I just don’t think I would have heard the individual characters as distinctly in my own mind as I did while listening to John’s performance. And it truly is a performance. Each character has a distinct voice and the way he conveys the depth of emotion that each of them feels is just amazing.
I’m not going to restate the book’s blurb. It does lack some information that I think was kind of significant but I’m afraid it would be too much of a spoiler to reveal it, which is probably why it’s not in the blurb. The main thing for me was that I found the story engaging due to the excellent voice acting by John Solo. I can’t say enough good things about how much I LOVED his performance of this story. The emotions he conveyed with his voice really allowed me to feel what the characters were feeling.
One of the MC’s, Patrick, is not very likeable at all but I was able to ignore (for the most part) how much of a jerk he is. Fortunately, as the story went along, my opinion of him improved. Patrick progressed from being pretty much unlikable in episode one to being my favorite character by the end of episode six. I was sobbing in some places for what his character goes through but there are also light-hearted moments. And the sexy time? OMG what these two guys get up to. They are a bit on the kinky side but nothing too outrageous.
Will is really sweet but he becomes a tiger when dealing with his douchebag of a father – who, by the end, maybe ends up not being as much of a douchebag as I first thought. I love the voice that John does for Will’s father.
This is an audiobook that I could see myself listening to again (something I rarely do because I have way too many books on my TBR list). I only have a few super favorite audiobook performers but that short list has now been increased by one.
To wrap up this kind of disjointed review, I would recommend this audiobook for the wonderful performance alone, but it’s also a very enjoyable story.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
3 of 5 stars to Leta Blake’s Wake Up Married serial, Episodes 1 – 3: Wake Up Married, Meet the Family, Do the Holidays, the first half of a six-part serial book about a couple who wake up in bed in Las Vegas, learning they’ve just gotten married. I wanted to read something new and different, and the concept of a couple waking up married in Las Vegas, and unable to divorce for a number of reasons, seemed intriguing. The story was cute. At times, it was a bit cheesy. Concept good. Characters good. Writing OK. Funny. A good welcome change of pace!
Interesting set of characters. Loved the grandmother who’s husband and son were in the mob. Ha! She’s a pip. The mother’s OK… but the friends give way to lots of laughs. The ex-bf needs to go. He’s got issues.
